    In this paper, the fact that there is no or little history in neuroethics is briefly considered. An open list of reasons explaining this fact is proposed as well as an open list of authors sensitive to history who adopt a critical attitude towards some bold claims expressed by a number of neuroethicists. These reflections are intended to make a humble case for more history in neuroethics.

    Life in the 21st century has presented people with unprecedented appeals and ethical challenges which are nowhere more evident than in educational institutions as well as in the online space. A renewed interest in the character as one of the crucial ethical developments is gaining momentum today. Good character is based on the virtues one possesses. We argue that education focused on the cultivation of intellectual virtues such as curiosity, intellectual humility, intellectual autonomy, attentiveness, intellectual carefulness, intellectual thoroughness, openmindedness, intellectual courage and intellectual tenacity are needed for individuals to lead fulfilling lives. At least, growing in intellectual virtues seems to be a valuable and desirable educational aim. This theoretical study strives to make a twofold contribution to the area of knowledge: firstly, it aims to contribute to the area of character and moral education through describing its forms and features; and secondly, it aims to contribute to virtue epistemology by identifying its nature and focus and outlining nine intellectual or epistemic virtues. Further to the second contribution, the study ends by arguing that the intellectual virtue approach and the critical thinking approach both help to cultivate intellectually virtuous critical thinkers.

    Departing from the distinction proposed by J. Buchanan between thinking in economics in terms of the theory of choice and analysis in categories of exchange and coordination, we claim that the Hayekian concept of economic order has a significant heuristic potential and can be fruitfully used to explain some important socio-economic phenomena. The goal of this paper is to confirm this claim through the application of the concept of economic order in the analysis of economic transformation and the discussion of the relation between economic order and moral norms. The paper is organised as follows. Section I contains introductory remarks. In section II, the two systems of economic thinking and reasoning: the theory of choice and analysis in categories of exchange and coordination are briefly presented. Section III contains a discussion of the concept of economic order, its origin, relation to the Freiburg School notion Ordo, and J. Buchanan’s perspective on the market and exchange. In section IV, two areas of the application of the concept of economic order are presented: a) systemic transformation as a change in formal and informal institutions, their subjective representation by economic agents and the complex economic order, b) a relation between economic order and moral norms. Conclusions are drawn in section V.
    Bazując na zaproponowanym przez J. Buchanana rozróżnieniu pomiędzy myśleniem w ekonomii w ramach teorii wyboru oraz analizą w kategoriach wymiany i koordynacji, twierdzimy, że Hayekowska koncepcja porządku ekonomicznego ma znaczny potencjał poznawczy i może być owocnie stosowana w badaniach wielu ważnych zjawisk społeczno- ekonomicznych. W celu uzasadnienia tego twierdzenia, wykorzystujemy koncepcję porządku ekonomicznego do analizy zjawiska transformacji systemowej, a także do określenia relacji pomiędzy porządkiem ekonomicznym a normami moralnymi. Artykuł ma następującą strukturę. Część I zawiera uwagi wprowadzające. W części II zostały zwięźle zaprezentowane dwa systemy myślenia ekonomicznego: teoria wyboru oraz analiza w kategoriach wymiany i koordynacji. Część III przedstawia koncepcję porządku ekonomicznego, jej źródła, relację do pojęcia Ordo Szkoły Freiburskiej, oraz J. Buchanana ujęcie rynku i wymiany. Z kolei w części IV pojęcie porządku ekonomicznego zostało zastosowane do analizy: a) transformacji systemowej jako zmiany w sferze instytucji formalnych i nieformalnych oraz w ich odzwierciedleniu w subiektywnej sferze gospodarujących podmiotów; b) relacji pomiędzy porządkiem ekonomicznym a normami moralnymi. Część V zawiera konkluzje.
