Opis:
Lumbricidae, as representatives of edaphone, are used in ecological research. Over the years, various attempts to improve the ways of earthworm extraction have been made. One of the pro-environmental methods for extracting these animals from the soil is the method involving the application of electric current (octet). The aim of the study was to compare the efficiency of the earthworm extraction using the mixed method (manual segregation along with the use of 0.5% formalin solution) with the method applying the electroshocking. The species composition of earthworms extracted using both methods was the same (seven species of earthworms belonging to three ecomorphological groups were found). A lower number and biomass of earthworms were found in the permanent grassland and arable land with the help of octet than using the mixed method. Further research is needed to improve the existing methods for Lumbricidae extraction and to implement new ones that would be safe for the edaphon representatives.

Aim. The paper addresses the problem of formative assessment in the foreign language (FL) classroom. Its main objective is to present the outcomes of a study identifying tendencies related to the use of formative assessment during English lessons in Polish high schools, and students’ opinions on the frequency, type and effects of assessment they had been provided with during secondary school education. Methods. The data come from a retrospective study applying a mixed-method approach. They were gathered with a questionnaire based on a Likert scale, complemented with a few open-ended questions. The responses were provided by 106 students who graduated various high schools in the years 2014-2017 in 36 towns/cities located in different regions of Poland. The frequencies of using formative assessment in the case of all the FL skills and subskills are presented in comparison to summative assessment. The qualitative data were coded with an aim of finding some common trends.    Results. The study showed that in the case of the participants of this research, formative assessment in secondary education at EFL classes was evidently neglected. Many students (approximately 25%) acknowledged to never having been provided with formative assessment with regards to pronunciation, receptive and productive skills. The open responses signal students’ awareness of the importance of feedback and of several negative effects resulting from the lack of its regular provision.    Conclusions. The data gathered in the study seem to call for the need to raise the understanding of the role and the practical abilities to use formative assessment in the EFL classroom both at pre-service and in-service teacher training courses.

Aim. The aim of this research is to identify student perceptions of the current organizational culture type in four flagship Turkish public universities. Its further goal after this diagnosis was to help the researchers and policy makers to deeply understand the actual situations and make recommendations for organizational culture change and educational innovations. Methods. We applied a mixed-method approach to collect data. The quantitative method consisted of 964 applications of the instrument of OCAI to bachelor students. The qualitative method included 19 semi-structured interviews to follow up and verify the results from the survey to have a deeper insight into Turkish HEIs. Results. The variety of findings through survey and interviews revealed and validated that the dominant culture type of Turkish universities regarding students is hierarchy followed by market culture. It is probable that the national cultural structure of the Turkish society is a result of this finding. It appears that Turkey has a hierarchical workplace attributing control, order, authority, and smooth functioning. Conclusions. Based on student perceptions, this study can provide policy makers, academic leaders, academic staff and employees in administrative units with a broader knowledge of the current organizational culture type in universities in Turkey, and identify the strengths and weaknesses of organizational culture in universities and to improve the quality through making innovations.

The aim of this research was to fabricate and study the properties of Bi1-x DyxFeO3 (for x = 0, 0.05, 0.07, 0.1) ceramics materials. Simple oxide powders Bi2O3, Dy2O3 and Fe2O3 were used to fabricate Bi1-xDyxFeO3 ceramics by mixed oxide method followed by free sintering. The study presents changes in microstructure and crystal structure as well as in dielectric properties and magnetic properties caused by modification of BiFeO3 with dysprosium dopant.

This study aims to examine the current status of Chinese Confucian ideas that have affected Korean youth culture and to draw up more effective education methods. A survey was conducted after teaching three different groups with the use of three teaching methods over two weeks. Before the experiment, Korean teenagers had preferred different teaching methods depending on their origins. However, after learning from the three teaching methods (cramming, mixed, and discussion teaching methods) for two weeks, the participants preferred the discussion method. Thus, the survey found that while Chinese Confucian ideas have a great influence on Korean youth, there is a possibility for change in preferred teaching methods.

The purpose of this study was to explore the degree of Confucian awareness among Korean university students, and to develop more effective education measures. Before the experiment, Korean university students preferred a cramming teaching method (CTM) and an audiovisual teaching method (ATM). After observing four education methods such as the CTM, the discussion teaching method (DTM), the mixed teaching method of cramming and discussion (MTM), and the audiovisual teaching method (ATM) over two weeks, however, the study found that freshmen and sophomore students prefer the MTM, while junior and senior students prefer the DTM. This implies that the preferred teaching method for Korean university students is the CTM when the level of Confucian awareness is high, but as the level of awareness is reduced, the method progresses to DTM through MTM. In other words, it could be found that different methods of education need to be employed depending on the degree of identified Confucian-style values of students.

Purpose: The aim of the work was to propose the integrated decision method with quality techniques to precision identify the root of the problem. Design/methodology/approach: The proposed method was integrated methods as the Ishikawa diagram, 5Why method and AHP method. An idea of the proposed method was improving the process of identifying the problem by using a new mixed-method, ie. after Ishikawa diagram the methods 5Why and AHP. Findings: It was demonstrated, that it is purposeful using the proposed mixed method (ie. qualitative and quantitative) to expand the horizon of identifying the root cause. Research limitations/implications: The limitation is the subjectivism of the entity using the method, which is revealed during assessing the causes of a problem. Therefore, future works will be based on the minimalization of subjectivism by using the fuzzy Saaty scale. Practical implications: The proposed method is a new approach to analyse different types of problems and support the process of solve decision problems. Therefore, this method can be practice in service and production enterprises to identify the root of product incompatibility. Social implications: Using the method allows improving the process of making the decision about causes of the problem, and limits the possibility of wrong decision about the source of the problem. Originality/value: The proposed method was used a new proposal of mixed-method, ie. it was used integrated the Ishikawa diagram, 5Why method and AHP method. The presented method is some kind of a new approach to identify the root of the problem.

This study provides the first critical and systematic investigation of the literature on Means-End Chain theory after the ground-breaking book “Understanding Consumer Decision Making: The Means-End Approach to Marketing and Advertising Strategy” by Olson and Reynolds (2001). The sample of 157 articles published in the Science Direct, Emerald, and Wiley databases was investigated. The period covers scientific literature published from 2001 to 2018. The paper shows the main theoretical concepts, methodological approaches, research problems, and findings. The results of the literature review demonstrate that the Means-End Chain theory is an evolving area of research and is gaining importance in academia and management. Some important gaps in the knowledge of theoretical and methodological levels were identified, and the most important directions for further studies were proposed.
Celem artykułu jest systematyczny i krytyczny przegląd literatury dotyczący teorii łańcucha środków-celów i wywiadów drabinkowych wykorzystywanych w badaniach konsumenckich. Przegląd jest dokonany na podstawie 157 artykułów opublikowanych w bazach danych Science Direct, Emerald oraz Willey, w których uwzględniono opracowania wydane między rokiem 2001 a 2018. Artykuł przedstawia podstawowe koncepcje teoretyczne podejścia środków-celów, problemy badawcze, metody wykorzystywane w badaniach i główne wnioski z badań. Wyniki przeglądu literatury potwierdzają, że teoria łańcucha środków-celów jest obszarem dynamicznie rozwijającym się pod względem badawczym w świecie naukowym oraz w praktyce zarządzania. Zidentyfikowano luki poznawcze związane z obszarem teorii i metodologii badań i zaproponowano nowe kierunki przyszłych badań.

This study aims to investigate relationship between entrepreneurship education and student readiness to start new venture. A mixed-method approach was employed that incorporates most significant change (MSC), factor analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis.The respondents were all alumni of undergraduate program in a school of management who were experiencing entrepreneurship education. Using a census method, three variables emerged as impacts of entrepreneurship education: ability to handle internal liability of newness (LoN), ability to handle external LoN, and recognition. Ability to handle internal and external LoN exert a positive influence on readiness to start new venture, while recognition does not. The relationship between ability to handle internal LoN and readiness to start new venture is stronger for students who possess feasibility.
Celem artykułu jest zbadanie związku między kształceniem w zakresie przedsiębiorczości a gotowością uczniów do rozpoczęcia nowego przedsięwzięcia. Zastosowano metodę mieszaną, która obejmuje najbardziej znaczącą zmianę (MSC), analizę czynnikową i analizę regresji hierarchicznej. Respondenci byli absolwentami programu studiów licencjackich w szkole zarządzania, którzy mieli doświadczenie w zakresie przedsiębiorczości. Przy użyciu metody spisowej wyłoniły się trzy zmienne jako wpływ kształcenia w zakresie przedsiębiorczości: umiejętność radzenia sobie z wewnętrzną odpowiedzialnością za nowość (LoN), umiejętność radzenia sobie z zewnętrzną dpowiedzialnością za nowość i rozpoznanie. Zdolność do obsługi wewnętrznej i zewnętrznej LoN wywiera pozytywny wpływ na gotowość do rozpoczęcia nowego przedsięwzięcia, podczas gdy rozpoznanie nie wywiera takiego wpływu. Związek pomiędzy umiejętnością radzenia sobie z wewnętrzną LoN a gotowością do rozpoczęcia nowego przedsięwzięcia jest silniejszy dla studentów posiadających wiedzę z zakresu studium wykonalności.

This paper is concerned with the frictionless unilateral contact problem (i.e., a Signorini problem with the elasticity operator). We consider a mixed finite element method in which the unknowns are the displacement field and the contact pressure. The particularity of the method is that it furnishes a normal displacement field and a contact pressure satisfying the sign conditions of the continuous problem. The a priori error analysis of the method is closely linked with the study of a specific positivity preserving operator of averaging type which differs from the one of Chen and Nochetto. We show that this method is convergent and satisfies the same a priori error estimates as the standard approach in which the approximated contact pressure satisfies only a weak sign condition. Finally we perform some computations to illustrate and compare the sign preserving method with the standard approach.

Opis:
Laminar mixed convection heat transfer in a vented square cavity separated by a porous layer filled with different nanofluids (Fe3O4, Cu, Ag and Al2O3) has been investigated numerically. The governing equations of mixed convection flow for a Newtonian nanofluid are assumed to be two-dimensional, steady and laminar. These equations are solved numerically by using the finite volume technique. The effects of significant parameters such as the Reynolds number (10 ≤ Re ≤ 1000), Grashof number (103 ≤ Gr ≤ 106 ), nanoparticle volume fraction (0.1 ≤ φ ≤ 0.6), porous layer thickness (0 ≤ γ ≤ 1) and porous layer position (0.1 ≤ δ ≤ 0.9) are studied. Numerical simulation details are visualized in terms of streamline, isotherm contours, and average Nusselt number along the heated source. It has been shown that variations in Reynolds and Darcy numbers have an impact on the flow pattern and heat transfer within a cavity. For higher Reynolds (Re > 100), Grashof (Gr > 105 ) numbers and nanoparticles volume fractions the heat transfer rate is enhanced and it is optimal at lower values of Darcy number (Da = 10−5 ). In addition, it is noticed that the porous layer thickness and location have a significant effect on the control of the heat transfer rate inside the cavity. Furthermore, it is worth noticing that Ag nanoparticles presented the largest heated transfer rate compared to other nanoparticles.

This paper deals with an application of complex analysis to second order equations of mixed type. We mainly discuss the discontinuous Poincaré boundary value problem for a second order linear equation of mixed (elliptic-hyperbolic) type, i.e. the generalized Lavrent'ev-Bitsadze equation with weak conditions, using the methods of complex analysis. We first give a representation of solutions for the above boundary value problem, and then give solvability conditions via the Fredholm theorem for integral equations. In [1], [2], the Dirichlet problem (Tricomi problem) for the mixed equation of second order $u_{xx} + sgn y u_{yy} = 0$ was investigated. In [3], the Tricomi problem for the generalized Lavrent'ev-Bitsadze equation $u_{xx} + sgn y u_{yy} + Au_x + Bu_y + Cu = 0$, i.e. $u_{ξη} + au_ξ + bu_η + cu = 0$ with the conditions: a ≥ 0, $a_ξ + ab - c ≥ 0$, c ≥ 0 was discussed in the hyperbolic domain. In the present paper, we remove the above assumption of [3] and obtain a solvability result for the discontinuous Poincaré problem, which includes the corresponding results in [1]-[3] as special cases.

This study aims to prepare the most effective Korean history education plan for children from mixed marriages in Korea using a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews. Before the survey, the children from mixed marriages between Korea and Vietnam, China, and Japan preferred the auto-visual teaching method (ATM). However, after learning Cramming Teaching Method (CTM), Audio-Visual Teaching Method (ATM), Comparative-History Teaching Method (CHTM), and Discussion Teaching Method (DTM) for one week, Chinese and Korean – Japanese children preferred CHTM, whereas Korean-Vietnamese children preferred ATM itself. Hence, CHTM was found to be the most effective method when educating Korean history to the children from mixed marriages between Korea and countries with many historical conflicts, similar to that of their mothers (first-generation immigrants).

A series of $Mo_xW_{1-x}S_2$ (0 ≤ x ≤1) layered mixed crystals was grown by the chemical vapor transport method. A systematic study of these crystals was then conducted using the Raman scattering measurements. The peaks of the two dominant first-order Raman-active modes, $A_{1g}$ and $E_{2g}^1$, and of several second-order bands are observed from 150 cm¯¹ to 500 cm¯¹. The peaks corresponding to $A_{1g}$ mode show one-mode type behavior, whereas the peaks of $E_{2g}^1$ mode demonstrate two-mode type behavior for the entire series. These results can be explained by the atomic displacements of each mode. For $A_{1g}$ mode, only S atoms vibrate, thereby resulting in a one-mode type behavior for the mixed crystals. For $E_{2g}^1$ mode, metal and S atoms vibrate. The mass difference in the vibrating Mo and W cations causes the two-mode type behavior of $E_{2g}^1$ mode. In addition, the largest asymmetry and broadening of $A_{1g}$ mode for $Mo_{0.5}W_{0.5}S_2$ is attributed to random alloy scattering.
