Opis:
The paper suggests the Solution to the problem of seeking the mirror reflection of any point from the flank surface of a cone in relation to the eye point, which is the centre of projection, on the grounds of descriptive geometry. To accomplish this goal a couple of spatial curves is used, whose point of interception is the sought point.

The paper is an attempt at a systematic review and a tentative synthesis of the philosophically most relevant theories of voice that are to be found within the psychoanalytic tradition. Beginning with some reflections borrowed from Thomas Ogden, the author proceeds to examine two lines of thinking about voice: the ‘paternal’ line which discusses voice mostly in relation to the superego and the orientation of the self and the ‘maternal’ line which discusses voice in relation to the processes of subjective constitution. Having analyzed selected insights of such authors as Freud, Reik, Isakower and Lacan within the paternal line and Lacan, Anzieu, Rosolato, Vasse, and Abraham&Török within the maternal one, the author attempts to show the common features of many of these diverse takes, focusing especially on the processes of internalization of external voices and on the strange status of voice as both most intimate and alien to us. The closing discussion of Mladen Dolar’s theory opens the way to a synthetic view of voice as the paradoxical kernel of human subjectivity.

A separate, cat-specific hospitalization room away from dogs is recommended to reduce stress in cats; however, this can be difficult for some hospitals to provide. In such cases, measures are undertaken to reduce the cat’s stress by providing a place to hide. However, inability to observe the cat’s condition may be an obstacle to providing veterinary care. The use of a one-way mirror to create a sheltered environment while allowing observation of the cats was assessed. Five healthy cats were assessed using the Cat Stress Score (CSS) while in a cage with either a transparent panel or a one-way mirror. No significant differences in the CSS between the transparent panel and one-way mirror were observed. Variations in the CSS scores depended on the cat’s personality, with friendlier and more sociable cats showing a lower CSS with the one-way mirror. A one-way mirror may be useful to reduce stress in hospitalized cats.

Research background: Some statistics are of a bilateral nature. This is how foreign trade data is organized. They are recorded both in the supplier and recipient countries, hence they are called mirror data. The data recorded at both trading partner countries are not the same for different reasons. Such differences between data on the same groups of transactions are often referred to as the asymmetry of mirror data. The information about the value of the flows of goods are of great importance in economic analyses and therefore their quality is particularly important. Purpose of the article: The aim of this paper is to present a new measure of data asymmetry - the aggregated quantity index with value-based weights. Methods: The proposed measure combines the quantity and the value of turn-over in individual trade relations. Such a measure makes it possible to eliminate basic deficiencies in value-based measures, while considering the specificity of trade in individual countries. The proposed measure of data asymmetry was confronted with several measures present in the literature and previously used by the Authors. The numerical example uses Comext data on intra-Community trade in 2017 provided by Eurostat. Findings & Value added: The proposed measure performs better than all the previously used data asymmetry indices. It is to some extent immune to exchange rate differences and inconsistencies resulting from the inclusion of transport and insurance costs in the value of goods. In addition, it gives lower weights to unimportant trade directions than other data asymmetry indices. Since the new index has proved to be better than the measures previously used, it is worth applying to those trade relations where the data are not de-rived from customs documents, but from declarations made by businesses, as in the case of intra-Community trade.

Recently, cemented carbide dies are used for many industrial products, due to their high stiffness and long life. Electric discharge machining is conventionally used and then, hand lapping is finally undergoes for mirror-like finishing of these products. In privious research, a simple lapping system for only plane surfaces of cemented carbide die was developed. In this study, several lapping tools for lapping of side, edge and corner were developed and evaluated by experiments. The system consists of a lapping tool, lapping vessel and conventional NC milling machine. The lapping vessel is placed on the table of the NC machine and the lapping tool is fitted with the spindle of the NC machine. Cemented carbide work piece is sunk and fitted in the lapping slurry and lapping processing is taken using the developed tools. Each lapping tool consists of a coil spring for supplying lapping pressure and the NC program was made possible to move the lapping head to contact and leave the work surface regularly for catching new grains and dressing. These lapping tools were finally evaluated by experiments. It is concluded from the results that the developed lapping tools were capable of lapping side, edge and corner of the cemented carbide work pieces for mirror-like surface finishing.

Opis:
Ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting has recently been utilized in industry for finishing of various precision parts such as mirror surface finishing and precision micro machining of dies and molds. However, its application has been limited to high-cost ultra-precision machining, where depth of cut is typically in a range from a few micrometers to several tens of micrometers due to power limitation of the vibration device. To expand its application to low-cost mirror surface finishing with ordinary machining facilities, a high-power elliptical vibration device was developed in this research. The elliptical vibration cutting of hardened die steel was examined by applying the developed high-power elliptical vibration device with single crystalline diamond tools. Pick feed was kept to be 0.02 mm to obtain mirror quality surfaces, while depth of cut was increased up to 0.4 mm to verify performance of the high-power elliptical vibration cutting. By analyzing the experimental results, it was clarified that mirror surface finishing of the hardened die steel can be achieved at the large depth of cut with practically acceptable tool life.

Opis:
Mirror-polishing processes have recently been required to add high quality, high-precision precision and multi-functionality to industrial products. However, this requires skilled manual work, making it difficult to improve productivity. Automatic polishing of these products is also very difficult. Furthermore, mirror-polishing process of stainless steel, titanium and glass, which are often used in high-value-added medical products, is also difficult. Therefore, in this study, a technology for high-precision, automatic mirror polishing of three difficult-to-polish materials - stainless steel, titanium and glass - was developed and evaluated. First, the difficult-to-polish properties of different materials were considered, and then tools were developed to improve these properties and enable suitable mirror-polishing processes. Next, a polishing slurry was developed to improve the surface roughness (Rz = 0.1 μm or less). Finally, the optimum polishing conditions for the proposed mirror-polishing process were determined by design of experiment and then evaluated. It was concluded that; (1) In order to perform mirror-polishing processes of three types of workpieces, stainless steel (SUS304), titanium (pure titanium) and glass (quartz glass), new polishing tool and slurries corresponding to each material were developed and the optimum polishing processing conditions were clarified, (2) Using (1), mirror-polishing processes of each material with a surface roughness of Rz = 0.1 μm has been achieved.

Recently, high efficient solar power generation is required because eco-awareness is increasing. High efficient generation becomes possible by focusing sunlight on electric generating element, i.e. CPV (Concentrator photovoltaic). Although the concentrator is used for focusing sunlight, it demands large spherical surface with high solar reflectance, fine accuracy and lightweight. Aluminum is considered as suitable material for concentrator. However, mirror-like processing on large spherical surface is very difficult. Therefore, new polishing technology for aluminum was developed and evaluated in this paper.Main objective is to obtain high solar reflectance by improving surface roughness. As a trial study, workpiece was not large spherical but small and flat. Firstly, the polishing tool which attached polishing cloth was developed.Optimum polishing cloth for tool was investigated by trial and error approach. When workpiece was heated before starting polishing, a number of oxides were adhered to polishing cloth and surface roughness was improved efficiently. Then optimum polishing condition was decided by using design of experiments method. Finally, solar reflectance on polished surface was measured and evaluated. It is concluded from these results that (1) the developed polishing technology was effective for processing the mirror-like surface on the surface of aluminum, (2) 82% solar reflectance was obtained with developed polishing technology by improving surface roughness of workpiece.

As high speed, high acceleration and stable drive on machine tools is constantly growing in demand, the use of linear motors in machine tools has increased. On the other hand, in order to achieve a high degree of quality, the need for mirror-like finish surfaces on industrial products has also considerably increased. This research explores the use of linear motors to develop a high-speed fine polishing process that achieves a mirror-like finish surface on small parts. The first stage of this process consisted in developing a polishing device, which was composed of a NC milling machine, a linear motor drive and a polishing head. Specifically, a polishing head attached to a linear motor drive was coupled with the spindle of a NC milling machine. A substitute for a small linear motor drive was obtained from a commercially available shaver, while the polishing head was made of propylene. The polishing head elaboration process, linear motor drive properties, lapping agent and the optimum polishing conditions were investigated in several experiments. The evaluation consisted in the high-speed polishing of minute areas on flat surfaces using the selected optimum conditions. It is concluded that, (1) the proposed system was able to achieve a mirror-like finish surface, (2) when compared to polishing with an ultrasonic motor, the machining time of the proposed system was reduced by half, (3) the proposed system was able to achieve a mirror-like finish on a 3 mm square sided area.

This article introduces the study of peripheral clamping for large-aperture laser mirrors in high power laser facilities. Some multi-point clamping schemes were experimentally tested, the results of the experiments show that these schemes cannot meet the technical requirements, and in the simulation analysis, we explain the reason for this phenomenon. It is concluded that the additional bending moment caused by the non-ideal process factors in the multi-point clamping is the main cause for the surface distortion. Based on the above conclusions, we carried out research on minor-point clamping. Experimental verification of the minor-point clamping were done, the results show that the minor-point clamping can meet the requirements of technical indicators in whole process. This work can provide a reference for the design of the large-aperture transport mirror clamping structure, which may be used in huge laser devices and telescopes.

Back side p+ emitter thin silicon solar cells have been constructed using vapor phase epitaxy. Double porous structure on a c-Si substrate was used as a seed substrate in order to enable active layer separation after vapor phase epitaxy growth. Structure of the back side emitter solar cell was obtained in situ during the epitaxy process. In order to enhance solar cell response to light from a range of 700–1200 nm wavelength, the back side dielectric mirror was developed and optimized by means of a computer simulation and deposited by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. At the same time, a reference sample was fabricated. Comparison of solar cells performance with or without the back side mirror was performed and clearly shows that the quality of solar light conversion into the electricity by means of solar cells, can be improved by using the structure proposed in this article.

Research background: Transactions in international trade of goods are recorded in two sources, on the side of the seller's country and on the side of the buyer's country. The confrontation of such data makes it possible to measure their quality. An inconsistency between the data is called mirror data asymmetry. Purpose of the article: The aim of the paper is to adapt the methods developed by the Authors to study mirror data asymmetry to commodity group markets examination. The quality of data on trade within specific commodity groups (CN chapters) in intra-Community trade was compared. The data were aggregated by country. The indicators used allow for the indication of commodity groups with high mirror data compatibility and those with data asymmetry between intra-Community supplies (ICS) and acquisitions (ICA). Moreover, the commodity groups for which the value-based and quantity-based approaches give different results have been identified. Methods: Based on the literature on the subject and their own research, the Authors have developed a group of methods for studying the asymmetry of mirror data. The proposed indicator formulas are based on various data aggregation approaches. The research used data on intra-Community supplies and acquisitions of goods broken down into 97 chapters of the Combined Nomenclature (CN). Differences between the ICS and ICA in particular commodity groups were aggregated for all pairs of EU countries. The data comes from the Comext database, provided by Eurostat. Findings & value added: The results of the analysis are rankings of the Combined Nomenclature (CN) chapters by the quality of data on ICS and ICA. Lists of CN chapters have been created for discrepancies both in value and weight of goods. Thus, areas of necessary intensification of the work of public statistics services to improve data reliability were identified.
