Opis:
The article presents examples of the employment of various geodetic measuring tools used for a detailed inventory of lake basins and shorelines. The measurement and analysis covered three post-mining open pit excavations recultivated as water reservoirs: two in Krakow (Bagry Wielkie and Bagry Małe) and one in Piaseczno (Piaseczno Sulphur Mine). Attention was paid to the factors that reduce the accuracy of the inventory of some flooded post-mining excavations, which determine the degree of usefulness of the morphometric data set for later analyses. According to available estimates, only about one-third of all water reservoirs in Poland have detailed geodetic documentation in the form of bathymetric maps. This documentation usually does not include water reservoirs of anthropogenic origin formed after the flooding of post-mining excavations (mines: sand, gravel, clay, limestone, sulphur, aggregates, etc.). The authors suggest the introduction of a document known as a reservoir documentation card and the creation of a database covering all anthropogenic water reservoirs. Considering the water deficit in Poland, it may be necessary to develop a detailed database of water resources in the short term.

Opis:
This article describes a measuring method used for monitoring deformations in wooden grating mining casings. It is intended, in particular, to determine the degree of deflection of load-bearing elements in relation to their original position. It was prepared especially to supplement the technical evaluation of wooden supporting casings in historic mines, underground sections of tourist routes, tunnels etc. The primary reason for the development of this problem were the designs prepared in recent years for large-scale grating constructions at Wieliczka Salt Mine and those for their reconstructions (strengthenings). The article describes the assumptions for the method proposed as well as the measurement system prepared. At Wieliczka Salt Mine two chambers with grating casings were selected and these were equipped with measuring devices. This paper presents the characteristics of these structures, the distribution of the devices installed and the course of the measuring process.

Opis:
In the underground mines of the Legnica-Głogów Copper District (LGOM) the main way to protect the room excavation is the use of a rock bolt support. For many years, it has proven to be an efficient security measure in excavations which met all safety standards and requirements. The article presents the consumption of the rock bolt support in the Mining Department “Polkowice-Sieroszowice” in the years 2010-2015 as well as the number of bolt supports that were used to secure the excavations. In addition, it shows the percentage of bolt supports that were used to conduct rebuilding work and cover the surface of exposed roofs. One of the factors contributing to the loss of the functionality of bolt supports is corrosion whose occurrence may lead directly to a reduction in the diameter of rock bolt support parts, in particular rods, bearing plates and nuts. The phenomenon of the corrosion of the bolt support and its elements in underground mining is an extremely common phenomenon due to the favorable conditions for its development in mines, namely high temperature and humidity, as well as the presence of highly aggressive water. This involves primarily a decrease in the capacity of bolt support construction, which entails the need for its strengthening, and often the need to perform the reconstruction of the excavation. The article presents an alternative for steel bearing plates, namely plates made using the spatial 3D printing technology. Prototype bearing plates were printed on a 3D printer Formiga P100 using the “Precymit” material. The used printing technology was SLS (Selective Laser Sintering), which is one of the most widely used technologies among all the methods of 3D printing for the short series production of the technical parts of the final product. The article presents the stress–strain characteristic of the long expansion connected rock bolt support OB25 with a length of 3.65 m. A rock bolt support longer than 2.6 m is an additional bolt support in excavations, and it is increasingly frequently used to reinforce roofs and in rebuilding the underground mines of KGHM Polish Copper S.A. In order to conduct the laboratory tests that are most suitable for the mine conditions, and yet are carried out on a laboratory test facility, the Authors used a steel cylinder with an external diameter of 102 mm and a length of 600 mm, which was filled with a core of rock (dolomite) from the roofs of the mine workings. In addition the maximum load that took over the bolt support made of rods and connected with sleeves was determined. For the initial tension, the elastic and plastic range of the maximal displacements, which were measured by the rope encoder, were determined. The statical tests of the expansion rock bolt support were carried out at the laboratory of the Department of Underground Mining in simulated mine conditions. The test facility enables the study of the long bolt rods on a geometric scale of 1:1 for the different ways of fixing. The aim of the laboratory research was to obtain the stress-strain characteristics, of the long expansion rock bolt support with a steel bearing plate and a plate printed on a 3D printer.

Opis:
The loss of stability of shallow voids existing in the rock mass often results in the formation of sinkholes on the surface. This has a significant impact on the threat to public safety. Therefore, it is crucial to recognize the presence of such voids, especially in old post-mining areas, where shallow extraction was previously conducted, and there is a lack of mapping documentation indicating the location of underground workings. This paper presents an example illustrating a proposed procedure for recognizing shallow voids, which consists of two research works: geophysical research combined with numerical analyzes used as a kind of forward modeling. This combination increases the possibility of accurately locating potential sinkhole occurrences. The first part of this article provides selected literature information on the occurrence of sinkhole hazards. The second part presents the results of subsurface layer investigations of the rock mass conducted using electrical resistivity tomography (ERT). The third part focuses on assessing the threat of sinkhole formation by using forward numerical modeling performed with the FLAC 3D software to confirm the subsurface structures identified through the ERT method. The results of the analyzes conducted with both methods are then discussed in terms of their suitability for assessing the associated risk. The research conducted within the framework of this study confirms the effectiveness of the ERT method combined with numerical modeling for evaluating the state of the rock mass. This method can be considered a valuable tool for supporting decision-making in identifying post-mining areas that are particularly at risk of sinkhole formation.

Opis:
Results of measurement and interpretation of velocity amplitudes of rock mass particles vibrations (PPV) registered on side walls of excavations of longwall 3/503 in the Bobrek-Centrum mine are presented in order to assess the potential stability hazard of these excavations. During the exploitation of longwall 3 strong tremors have occurred of energies higher than 106 J and it was essential to estimate the level of dynamic loads affecting excavations. This assessment was carried out by continuous registration of tremors and PPV vibrations measurements and their analyses on side walls of active excavations and comparison of measured values with empirical values of elaborated criteria of the assessment of potential hazard (Mutke 2008, 2011). The elaborated PPV method enabled one to state that strong tremors of rock mass occurring in the final stage of longwall 3/503 exploitation caused low level of vibrations and dynamic load in mine excavation. In accordance with the criteria of PPV method, these were vibrations at the level of a lack, or at the most, low hazard of mine excavation stability.
W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki pomiarów i interpretacji amplitud prędkości drgań cząstek górotworu PPV w bezpośrednim otoczeniu wyrobisk przyścianowych ściany 3/504 w ZG Bobrek-Centrum, w celu oceny ich potencjalnego zagrożenia utratą stateczności.
