    Opis:
    The study presents an historical outline of boundaries in views: not only as physical and political barriers, but principally social, economic and imaginative. It is an attempt to understand the role of borders for the mi-grants. The problem is described on the basis of literaturę: Key Island written by Margaret Szejnert and A short guide to the crossing of borders, written by Gazmed Kapllani. The first book shows true stories about migrants, who had arrived at Ellis Island and tried a chance at the seaside of United States of America. The second contains a real experience of author, who is a traveler, but first of all a refugee. Travelers and migrants are examples of groups, which are constantly overcoming boundaries - especially cultural barriers, which make it difficult to cohabitate with existing population. For this reason, the articles address a problem of migration in the context of border crossing.

    Opis:
    The Polish version of the article was published in Roczniki Humanistyczne vol. 64, issue 1 (2016). The article presents Polish literature in Israel as literature written by migrants: a response to the experience of being relocated and of functioning between different cultures. The subject of the analyses are the paraphrases, travesties and parodies of works by Adam Mickiewicz that are present in Polish-Israeli literature. Referring to the canon texts of Polish literature in them serves the recording of life in Israel. Using Polish literary patterns in stories about the new life and inscribing the Israeli world, as well as signs of Hebrew culture, into them is interpreted as a peculiar correlate of the experience of migration.

    Opis:
    Canadian ethnic literature has been dominated by testimonies of migrant experience for a long time. Writers of Eastern European extraction, such as Janice Kulyk Keefer, Eva Hoffman, Eva Stachniak, Lisa Appignanesi or Elaine Kalman Naves to mention just a few, have contributed to the vast body of Canadian migrant literature, giving voice to the quandaries of white, invisible minority migration. As it turns out, the latest texts published by Polish-born Canadian women writers also address the issues of migration and the memory of Communist Poland, which the writers left in the 1980s and early 1990s. The aim of this paper is to look at three selected texts: Giant (2012) by Aga Maksimowska, Lemons (2017) by Kasia Jaronczyk and Was It Worth It. Columbus in Jeans (2019) by Liliana Arkuszewska, all of which are debut novels, and discuss their perception and rendition of Communist Poland, which the authors left behind physically and simultaneously struggled to free from mentally. The narratives chosen for this study, despite substantial differences, bear certain similarities in their treatment of Poland as well as become important commentaries on the status of migrant discourses in North America.
    W kanadyjskiej literaturze etnicznej od wielu lat pojawiają się świadectwa doświadczeń migrantów. Pisarki o pochodzeniu wschodnioeuropejskim, takie jak Janice Kulyk Keefer, Eva Hoffman, Eva Stachniak, Lisa Appignanesi czy Elaine Kalman Naves, by wymienić tylko kilka z nich, wniosły ogromny wkład do kanadyjskiej literatury migracyjnej, dając wyraz rozterkom migracji białych, niewidzialnych mniejszości. Jak się okazuje, najnowsze teksty opublikowane przez kanadyjskie pisarki urodzone w Polsce również poruszają kwestie migracji i pamięci o komunistycznej Polsce, którą opuściły w latach 80. i na początku lat 90. Celem niniejszegoartykułu jest przyjrzenie się trzem wybranym tekstom: Giant (2012) Agi Maksimowskiej, Lemons (2017) Kasi Jaronczyk oraz Was It Worth It? Columbus in Jeans (2019) Liliany Arkuszewskiej. Wszystkie te teksty to utwory debiutanckie, w których autorki przedstawiają sposób postrzegania komunistycznej Polski sprzed przełomu 1989 roku, którą ich bohaterki zostawiły za sobą fizycznie i jednocześnie, już w Kanadzie, walczyły o uwolnienie się od niej duchowo i mentalnie. Narracje wybrane do tego studium, pomimo istotnych różnic (także gatunkowych), wykazują pewne podobieństwa w traktowaniu dziedzictwa komunizmu i Polski, oraz zdają się być ważnymi komentarzami na temat statusu migrantów i dyskursów migracyjnych w Ameryce Północnej.

    Opis:
    Der Beitrag geht der Frage der literarischen Darstellung von Adoleszenz in Verbindung mit der Migration nach. Das Thema ist sowohl wissenschaftlich, publizistisch, als auch literarisch weitgehend unerforscht. Dabei sind beide Prozesse einander äußerst ähnlich und können in Verbindung miteinander zu großen Störungen der Persönlichkeit sowie enormer Überforderung des jungen Menschen führen. Die Hauptfigur des Textes, ein adoleszentes Mädchen, durchlebt nach ihrer Ankunft in Deutschland Veränderungen auf sämtlichen Ebenen ihres Daseins. Im Beitrag geht es darum, aufzuzeigen, auf welche Aspekte die Aufmerksamkeit der Leser gerichtet wird und wie diese erzähltechnisch dargestellt werden.
    Artykuł poświęcony jest przedstawieniu problemu adolescencji w połączeniu z migracją. Temat ten pozostaje niezbadany naukowo czy publicystycznie, nie był częstym tematem dzieł literackich. Oba te procesy są jednak niezwykle zbliżone i w połączeniu ze sobą mogą prowadzić do znaczących zaburzeń osobowości oraz przytłaczać młodego człowieka. Główna bohaterka powieści, dorastająca dziewczyna, przeżywa po przyjeździe do Niemiec zmiany dotyczące niemalże każdego aspektu jej egzystencji. Celem artykułu jest wykazanie, na jakie aspekty zwraca uwagę autorka, jak również przy pomocy jakich środków narracji.
    The paper deals with the question of the literary representation of adolescence in connection with migration. The topic is largely unexplored, scientifically, journalistically and literarily. Both processes are extremely similar to each other and, combined with each other, can lead to great disturbances of the personality and enormous overburdening of the young person. The main character of the text, an adolescent girl, is experiencing changes on all levels of her existence when she arrives in Germany. The paper aims to show which aspects the reader’s attention is focused on and how they are presented in a narrative manner.
