Opis:
The organizational structure of materials handling is illustrated with an example of a distribution plant. A route for a materials flow was outlined on the architectural design and necessary transport operations were described. A model shipping unit was selected, for which a materials flow process chart and a transport cycle chart were drawn up.
Przedstawiono strukturę organizacyjną transportu bliskiego na przykładzie zakładu dystrybucyjnego. Na podkładzie architektonicznym wyznaczono drogę przepływu materiałów i opisano konieczne operacje transportowe. Wybrano przykładową jednostkę ładunkową, dla której sporządzono kartę procesu przepływu materiału i kartę cykli transportowych.

Opis:
Continuous processing of energetic materials using a twin screw extruder is gaining importance as it is a safe and cost-effective alternative to conventional batch processing. The continuous process based on a twin screw extruder combines the capabilities of intensive mixing and high pressure extrusion. It is used for processing a variety of energetic materials, such as gun and rocket propellants, plastic bonded explosives, pyrotechnics, thermo-baric explosives, etc. The twin screw extruder process demands various safety features for the processing of energetic materials. Therefore, exhaustive characterisation of the energetic materials in terms of safety and rheology, coupled with characterisation of the mechanical components of the extruder, are essential for designing a safe continuous process. In this article, a technological overview of continuous processing for energetic materials is presented, along with its various features, process design methodology and safety issues.

The temperature in the laser irradiation area of an amorphous iron-based ribbon was calculated. As a result of the calculation a spatial temperature distribution and its time dependence were structured which allowed reproducing the geometric and structural characteristics of exposed areas. Simultaneously, an irradiated amorphous alloy was investigated by scanning electron microscopy which allowed determining the geometric and structural characteristics of these areas experimentally and obtaining their dependencies on the laser pulse parameters. The results of theoretical calculations were compared with the experimental data.

Opis:
Magnetic hysteresis occurs in most electrical engineering devices once soft ferromagnetic materials are exposed to relatively high temperatures. According to several scientific studies, magnetic properties are strongly influenced by temperature. The development of models that can accurately describe the thermal effect on ferromagnetic materials is still an issue that inspires researchers. In this paper, the effect of temperature on magnetic hysteresis for ferromagnetic materials is investigated using a self-developed numerical method based on the Preisach distribution function identification. It employs a parameter depending on both temperature and the Curie temperature. This approach is of the macroscopic phenomenological type, where the variation of the magnetization (in direct connection with the Preisach triangle) is related to the observed macroscopic hysteretic behavior. The isotropic character of the material medium is predominant. The technique relies on a few experimental data extracted from the first magnetization curve provided by metallurgists. The ultimate goal is to provide a simple and robust magnetic behavior modeling tool for designers of electrical devices. Temperature is introduced at the stage of identifying the distribution function of the Preisach model. This method is validated by the agreement between the experimental data and the simulation results. The developed method is very accurate and efficient in modeling the hysteresis of ferromagnetic materials in engineering particularly for systems with ferromagnetic components and electromagnetic-thermal coupling.

Opis:
The ways of reducing CO2 emissions in the cement industry were analysed for the purposes of implementation of the low carbon development strategy. The optimal solution to this problem is the technologically optimised blended cements with high volume of supplementary cementitious materials of various genesis and fineness. The design of eco-friendly blended cements was achieved by a synergistic combination of the main constituents such as granulated blast furnace slag, superfine zeolite, fly ash and limestone, as well as by optimisation of the their granulometric composition, taking into account their bimodal particle size distribution by volume and surface area. Moreover, the article presents the technical, environmental and economic benefits of using eco-efficient blended cements.

Opis:
Mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) is widely used for the microstructural characterisation of porous solids. Comparatively few studies have employed the technique to characterise the size of particles within powdered samples. The present study uses the MIP technique to characterise the particle sizes of contemporary supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), and in particular uses the technique to present particle size distributions, rather than a single mean size. Representivity of the technique for known limitations of non-spherical and porous particles are checked using the Scanning Electron Microscope. The findings indicate that the MIP affords a good approximation of particle sizes, including distributions, of spherical and non-spherical particles. The technique was also found to provide reasonable accuracy for estimating the particle sizes of highly porous particles, where distinction between inter-particle and intra-particle porosity was made.
