Opis:
The paper presents research to verify the effectiveness of nine selected material models of elastomeric materials based on uniaxial tension test. Basing on the cyclic uniaxial tension test of elastomers sample, the stress-strain characteristic for the 18th load cycle was prepared. On the basis of the obtained characteristic, the values of material constants were calculated for the studied models (Neo-Hookean, Mooney with two and three constants, Signorini, Yeoh, Ogden, Arruda-Boyce, Gent and Marlow) and simulation of tensile, upsetting and bending processes was performed with the usage of the software MARC/Mentat. The effectiveness of the selected models was determined based on a comparison of results obtained in the experimental tensile test, upsetting test and bending test of an elastomeric samples with the results of numerical FEM calculations for each models. The research has shown that, for modeling of the elastomeric cylinder upsetting in the range of deformation of 62%, the best results with the comparison of the experiment were obtained by using the Yeoh model. In the bending process none of the analyzed models indicate a high convergence of results from an experiment. Analyzing the characteristics of the experimental and numerical tensile test it can be seen that in the entire range of punch movement (0 to 55 mm), models Signorini, Marlow, Ogden(N3) and Mooney(3) give the best results.

Opis:
The main goal of this work is the integration of in-house software with commercial numerical software based on the finite element method (FEM). The main idea is to develop a universal interface to perform process simulations with multiscale models. The interface allows the combination of external procedures with commercial software with minimum programmer’s work putting in integration. As an example, the model of material recrystallization of steel was implemented, added to the commercial application, and the software was tested for a process defined as a sequence of compression and cooling. The material model takes into consideration each type of recrystallization that occurs during a sequence of thermal and mechanical processing such as static recrystallization (SRX), dynamic recrystallization (DRX), and meta-dynamic recrystallization (MDRX). It allows the prediction of recrystallized volume fraction (X) and grain growth on each step of numerical simulation for each Gauss point in the computation domain. The presented multiscale model of process sequences not only allows to calculate microscale model parameters such as grain growth and recrystallized volume fraction, but also reflects the impact of the microscale model on macroscale parameters.

Opis:
The article describes and compares the course of the resistance test of a treated surface against the impact of gravel with the model of the test process. The two series of composite samples with surface treatment underwent a so-called gravel test, followed by the evaluation of the test results. Simultaneously with the tests, the material models of the tested composites were created. The input values obtained were used to create a FEM model. The model describes the response of the surface treatment to the impact of the object i.e. gravel of the given size and weight/number. The modelling results were compared with the results of real tests.

This paper presents dynamic analysis of a bar with one end fixed and other free, loaded with force at its free end. The viscoelastic material of the bar is described by fractional models (Scot-Blair, Voigt, Maxwell and Zener models). Rayleigh-Ritz and Laplace transform methods were applied to obtain closed-form solution of the considered problem.

Opis:
In the paper, a literature study of a modelling methods of a photocurable materials developed by additive techniques is presented. The main aim was to assess which material model is appropriate for such kinds of matter. The Finite Element Method and the LS Dyna software was assumed as a possible environment for the investigations. The material models that can be apply for photopolymers analysing were described as well as examples of such materials. The conclusions is that the material model selection must be based on the observation of the material behaviour and the possible loading conditions (e.g. strain rate).

Interactions between hunter-gatherers and groups of farmers and breeders have been a subject of archaeological debate for many years. Thanks to the application of different scientific approaches, ranging from material studies to archaeometric analyses, the discussion has not lost its relevance. The aim of this study is to present the evolution of scientific investigations related to these interactions and to emphasise the potential of the debate: despite the passing of time, it remains an open research issue. The complexity of this discussion will be demonstrated through selected case studies from all around Europe.

Opis:
Purpose: The aim of the work is to execute measurements of digital dental models taken by scanning prosthetic impressions using the engineering CAD software and finding dimensional differences and scale factor for precise reproduction of patient tooth dimensions. Design/methodology/approach: Tests were carried out involving the execution of 3 series of impressions for selected impression materials, which were then scanned using two types of prosthetic scanners. Gypsum models based on mentioned impressions were scanned and dimensionally compared with impression-based digital models. Benchmark impressions were also performed in order to verify the obtained results and determine the correction factor for dimensions. The dimensional differences between impression groups were calculated by using Engineering CAD software. Findings: It was found, that compared to the base model, the digital model has a smaller volume than the object being mapped, the digital models based directly on the impression should be 0.09 - 0.12% rescaled to match the dimensions of the base model. Research limitations/implications: It is necessary to perform a practical verification of the results achieved and apply the determined coefficient in practice by creating working models using precise devices such as a 3D SLA printer and verify their results with intraoral scanner based models. Practical implications: This test will allow making precise working models using a 3D printer, allowing finally to perform, for example, implant-based bridges directly from the level of implants, using the masses described in the study. Originality/value: The comparative studies of polyvinyl siloxane and alignate impression materials were carried out in order to measure dimensional differences between working models made directly from the impression and gypsum models and compared with pattern, which allowed to determine the expansion coefficient, which will allow to work in 3D printing technology with close representation of real situation in the patient's oral cavity, which is particularly important when performing full arch bridges and extensive work on implants, including direct implants. The work has practical applications for both dental engineers and dentists performing advanced prosthetic work.

Opis:
The behaviour of a high strength steel (ARMSTAL 500) has been investigated using a combination of quasistatic and dynamic tests for a wide strain-rate range 1·10⁻⁴ – 3·10³ s⁻¹. A uniaxial testing machine and a Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) have been used under well controlled testing conditions. Next, the effect of the strain hardening, the strain rate hardening, loading history and stress triaxiality on the strength and ductility of the material has been studied. The present work also describes constitutive and damage models and their implementation available in the nonlinear finite element code LS DYNA. Calibration of constitutive model parameters and damage criteria is most often accomplished via regression techniques applied to laboratory data. A 3D numerical simulation of perforation of ARMSTAL 500 plates with 7.62 × 51 mm AP projectile were carried out with detailed models of target and compared with experiment in order to validate the calibrated models. As it will be shown, ARMSTAL 500 steel is a high strength steel with modest strain-rate sensitivity. The study indicates that the penetration depth can be predicted quantitatively and qualitatively with MJC hardening parameters calibrated from compression tests. The Modified Johnson–Cook constitutive model with Cockcroft and Latham failure model can predict the projectile residual speed and the fragmentation process followed very closely by MJC failure criteria.

Opis:
In the paper the effects of nucleation and growth of voids in the plastic porous media are investigated. Three different forms of the model are considered: the augmented Gurson model (total porosity model) with variable nucleation and growth material function, the same model with constant growth material function and the separated porosity model. The identification of the material functions parameters is based on Fischer's experimental data set for axisymmetric tension of steel specimens and formulated as a typical nonlinear regression problem using the least squares approach. The resulting minimization problem is solved by means of our own implementation of the Boender at al. global minimization method. Calculations and statistical analysis (Akaike, FPE and Vuong tests) have led to a conclusion that the growth material function in the uniaxial tension for steel may be assumed to be constant although not necessarily equal to one.
