Mark the Hermit, a monk from the 4th century, active probably in Asia Minor, indicates in an original way that the cause of passion in man is forgetting about good thoughts (lēthē), carelessness (rhathymia) and ignorance (agnoia). This threefold evil is opposed by the following means: forgetfulness – by memory of good works, carelessness – by most sincere readiness, ignorance – by enlightened cognition. Nobody before him had ever dealt with the causes of passion in such a way and indicated such an antidote to them. In order to understand Mark the Hermit’s theory, it is necessary to look in detail at this writer’s teaching about passion and the ascetic fight against it. This article is devoted to this spiritually important issue.

Mark the Hermit is one of the most important theoreticians of ascetic life in the ancient Church. In his ascetic writings, he takes up a number of subjects, including teaching about freedom and grace. This is not a systematic doctrine, but rather statements scattered in his works, occasional, often similar to each other. “Freedom” is defined by St. Mark the Hermit by the term ἐλευθερία, while “grace” – by the term χάρις. He also reminds us that freedom is given to man by Christ; man also receives it in the sacrament of baptism, because it frees him from the burden of sin. Grace, in turn, is presented by Mark the Hermit always as a gift from God given to man. Therefore, the Kingdom of Heaven is a gift, and not a reward for deeds, and the salvation that we receive from Christ is also grace. St Mark the Hermit’s teaching on freedom and grace certainly differs from the views of the Messalian sect, whose followers did not want to admit that grace and freedom are given to the baptised, so that they can perfect themselves throughout their lives and become similar to God.

The main objective of the paper was to check if and which monopolistic markups of 29 Polish food sector branches can be regarded as potential predictors of business cycle changes. Markups were measured based on a non-overhead labour input margin, whereas the business cycle was considered on the three levels of branch, sector and the whole economy, with following indicators: value of production for the first two, and GDP for the macro cycle. Research methods were panel regressions and cross-correlations. In the analysed period 2000-2013 markups were countercyclical regarding macro cycle and procyclical regarding sectorial and branch cycles. Changes in market structures of 10 Polish food sector branches could be used as predictors for the macro business cycle, and of 6 – for the sectorial business cycle.
Głównym celem artykułu jest sprawdzenie, czy i które marże w 29 branżach polskiego przemysłu przetwórczego mogą być potencjalnymi predyktorami zmian koniunktury. Wybrano sposób liczenia marż bazujący na marżach pracy produkcyjnej, a cykl koniunkturalny rozważono na 3 poziomach – branży i sektora (wartość produkcji) oraz całej gospodarki (PKB). Metodami badawczymi były regresje panelowe i korelacje krzyżowe. W analizowanym okresie 2000-2013 marże zachowywały się antycyklicznie w odniesieniu do cyklu makroekonomicznego i procyklicznie w odniesieniu do cykli sektorowego i branżowego. Zmiany struktur rynkowych w 10 branżach polskiego przemysłu spożywczego mogłyby być predyktorami zmian cyklu ogólnogospodarczego, natomiast w 6 – cyklu sektorowego.

Intercalations are found in the Gospel of Mark. They are graphically described by the following scheme: A – B – A’. Mark’s convention consists of the break off narration (pericope A) through insertion of another one (B) and placing it inside. Such a technique is called intercalation, interpolation or a sandwich technique. The use of intercalation is somehow intended. The purpose of this article is to indicate a problem of criteria that will allow to select the texts of intercalations precisely. The analysis of the criteria and the features of intercalations corroborates the use of sandwich technique by Mark in the six commonly accepted by the biblical scholars conjoined narratives: 3:20-35; 5:21-43; 6:6b-31; 11:12-25; 14:1-11; 14:53-72 and also in case of the juxtaposed pericopes from the group of disputable ones: 8:1-21 and 15:40-16,8.DOI: https://doi.org/10.31743/ba.2018.8.3.03

Mark, trace and structure have been in consistently used in ichnology for many years; we wish to clarify the origins and to prescribe correct usage of these terms. The origins of the words are ancient and complex; in the twentieth century they were given clear definitions as ichnologic terms. Seilacher (1953) defined a mark (German Marke) as a physical (abiogenic) sedimentary structure, as in the common terms sole mark, flute mark, but not bite mark or scratch mark. Trace has been defined many times; we recommend the consensus definition of Bertling et al. (2006) as “a morphologically recurrent structure resulting from the life activity of an individual organism (or homotypic or ganisms) modifying the substrate”; this in cludes dwelling trace, feeding trace, bite trace. Structure, as implied in another consensus paper (Frey, 1973), is a neutral term for geologic patterns resulting from either biogenic or abiogenic processes. Use of the three terms in a clear consistent manner will aid communication both among ichnologists and between ichnologists and their colleagues in other fields.

Opis:
A Greek inscription on stone found in Alexandria in the nine- teenth century and exhibited in the Alexandrian Greco-Roman Museum contains an unusual dedicatory text in honour of Mark Antony. The text was edited several times. It contains useful information which agrees with the passage of Plutarch on the lifestyle of Antony and Cleopatra, and their entourage. In this paper the author suggests the date 34–30 bc for the activity of the ‘Inimitables’ and adds a further commentary on the history of Antony and Cleopatra.

While Theophylact’s Enarratio in Evangelium Marci [Explanation of the Gospel of Mark] is known as the first commentary on the whole Gospel in Greek, the question remains: how much of Mark’s Gospel is in this Explanation? The main aim of the article is to examine whether Theophylact notices the specificity of Mark’s Gospel, or whether he is harmonizing Mark with Matthew, on which he commented earlier, or other Gospels. The analysis of the Explanation of the Gospel of Mark shows that Theophylact relates to content typical of the Gospel of Mark. He distinguishes Mark’s theology from other Gospels, recognizing at the same time the theological unity of the four Gospels. His attentiveness to the details of the narrative is evidenced by the accurate presentation of divergences and, regarding some pericopes, the lack of harmonization.

Artykuł dotyczy problematyki nakładania noty cenzorskiej w związku z zawarciem nieodpowiedniego małżeństwa w okresie republikańskim. Analiza tekstów źródłowych prowadzi do wniosku, że związki członków nobilitas z wyzwolenicami oraz kobietami o wątpliwej reputacji były postrzegane negatywnie i jako takie mogły podlegać nocie. Dlatego też autorzy opisujący wprowadzenie przez Augusta ustaw małżeńskich piszą, że princeps zezwolił na małżeństwa z wyzwolenicami wszystkim oprócz senatorów.
This article is on the administration of the censor’s mark on Roman citizens who contracted inappropriate marriages in republican Rome. An examination of the source texts has led me to conclude that marriages contracted by members of the nobility with freedwomen or women with a bad reputation were considered unacceptable and were liable to a censor’s mark. That is why authors writing on Augustus’ reform of the marriage laws say that the Emperor permitted all the citizens except senators to marry a freedwoman.

Aim: The requirements for placing construction products for fire protection marked with a construction mark on the market or making them available on the national market result from the applicable legal acts. The article aims to present the current requirements and to analyze the changes introduced over the last two years. It contains a valid list of construction products for fire protection, for which it is necessary to carry out national assessment and verification of constancy of performance, as well as a summary of information related to the update of the definitions. Introduction: In 2017, the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure and Construction on the method of declaring the performance of construction products and the method of marking them with a construction mark entered into force. It also concerned products used in fire protection [1]. The previous legal act that was in force in this area was the 2018 regulation [2]. In the article published in the fourth issue of “BITP. Safety and Fire Technique” from 2018 [8], the authors discussed the changes introduced then. More than 2 years have passed since the previous article was written, and the 2017 regulation has four amending acts, which - according to the authors - also deserve clarification. The changes to these regulations included updating the list of construction products for which national assessment and verification of constancy of performance is carried out, amendment of the definitions and extension of the transition periods. Methodology: In order to present changes in the scope of the requirements for placing construction products for fire protection marked with a construction mark on the market or making them available on the national market, an analysis was carried out of the acts amending the regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure and Construction of 17 November 2016 on the method of declaring the performance of construction products and the method of marking their construction mark. On the basis of the analysis, the scope of changes was presented along with an indication of their impact on national assessment and verification of constancy of performance. Conclusions: This article presents changes over the last 2 years in the requirements for placing construction products for fire protection marked with a construction mark on the market or making them available on the domestic market.
Cel: Wymagania w zakresie wprowadzania do obrotu lub udostępniania na rynku krajowym wyrobów budowlanych służących ochronie przeciwpożarowej znakowanych znakiem budowlanym wynikają z obowiązujących aktów prawnych. Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie aktualnych wymagań oraz analizę wprowadzonych zmian na przestrzeni ostatnich dwóch lat. Zawiera on obowiązującą listę wyrobów budowlanych służących ochronie przeciwpożarowej, dla których niezbędne jest przeprowadzenie krajowej oceny i weryfikacji stałości właściwości użytkowych, a także podsumowanie informacji związanych z aktualizacją definicji. Wprowadzenie: W 2017 roku weszło w życie rozporządzenie Ministra Infrastruktury i Budownictwa w sprawie sposobu deklarowania właściwości użytkowych wyrobów budowlanych oraz sposobu znakowania ich znakiem budowlanym dotyczące także wyrobów stosowanych w ochronie przeciwpożarowej [1]. Poprzednim aktem prawnym, który obowiązywał w tym zakresie było rozporządzenie z roku 2018 [2]. W tamtym czasie autorzy omówili wprowadzone zmiany w artykule opublikowanym w czwartym numerze „BITP. Bezpieczeństwo i Technika Pożarnicza” z 2018 roku [8]. Od momentu powstania poprzedniego artykułu minęły ponad 2 lata, a rozporządzenie z 2017 r. doczekało się czterech aktów zmieniających, które – zdaniem autorów – także zasługują na wyjaśnienie. Zmiany w tych przepisach obejmowały aktualizację wykazu wyrobów budowlanych, dla których dokonuje się krajowej oceny i weryfikacji stałości właściwości użytkowych, nowelizację definicji oraz wydłużenie okresów przejściowych. Metodologia: W celu przedstawienia zmian w zakresie wymagań wprowadzania do obrotu lub udostępniania na rynku krajowym wyrobów budowlanych służących ochronie przeciwpożarowej znakowanych znakiem budowlanym dokonano analizy aktów zmieniających rozporządzenie Ministra Infrastruktury i Budownictwa z dnia 17 listopada 2016 r. w sprawie sposobu deklarowania właściwości użytkowych wyrobów budowlanych oraz sposobu znakowania ich znakiem budowlanym. Na podstawie wykonanej analizy zaprezentowano zakres zmian wraz ze wskazaniem ich wpływu na przeprowadzanie krajowej oceny i weryfikacji stałości właściwości użytkowych. Wnioski: Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia zmiany w wymaganiach dotyczących wprowadzania do obrotu lub udostępniania na rynku krajowym wyrobów budowlanych służących ochronie przeciwpożarowej znakowanych znakiem budowlanym na przestrzeni ostatnich 2 lat.

Over the last few years credit risk and its minimalization have been widely discussed. Therefore the problem of credit risk and methods of its evaluation seem to be quite important. In the article there were presented various models of credit risk using statistic information and they ware shortly characterized. It should be emphasized that the discussed methods in many cases situations can make it easier to take difficult credit decisions.
