Currently, the development of information technology in all fields is very rapid, including in the manufacturing sector, thus making the social environment of manufacturing change a lot. Traditional manufacturing research focuses on applying technology, such as production models, supplier arrangements, automation, advanced machines in the manufacturing industry, etc. Global competition and increasingly diverse customer demands are a phenomenon that occurs today. Social manufacturing is a new distributed, collaborative, and intelligent manufacturing, that every consumer can participate in the entire process of product design, manufacture, and even marketing. This study aims to examine the development of social manufacturing systems and the latest research in social manufacturing. The method used is to review the latest papers related to social manufacturing that provide a new paradigm for the manufacturing industry, then map based on the concepts, frameworks, and technologies used. The results of this review paper are in the form of mapping research papers taken from the database of a reputable international journal, Scopus. The mapping includes data on the author, co-author, terms on social manufacturing paper, year of publication, type of document and publisher. This systematic literature review can be one of the references for basic research on social manufacturing.

Opis:
Process planning knowledge (PPK) is one of the most important knowledge in production manufacturing enterprise. The traditional method of organizing data into knowledge relies on manual analysis and interpretation. This paper analyzes the source and composing of process planning knowledge and state of arts on process planning discovery in production manufacturing enterprise. On the basis of the application of computer aided process planning (CAPP) system in mechanical manufacturing enterprise, the concept of process planning information model (PPIM) is proposed based on process planning databases. This paper provides a CAPP database developed in own research, clarifying how PPK and PPIM in CAPP database are related both to each other and to related fields, the technology database of process planning knowledge discovery is modeled based on object-oriented model-driven technology, and the process planning knowledge discovery script is designed.

This article summarizes the arguments and counterarguments within the scientific discussion on identifying the enterprise’s state to evaluate its effectiveness and optimize the target functions in solving enterprise development problems. The proposed scientific and methodological approach to modeling the enterprise development management system under decentralization conditions and its practical implementation makes it possible to determine the dominant development parameters of manufacturing enterprises that influence the United Territorial Community and to timely track the impulses and space of the United Territorial Community state, taking into account the PS state as parameters for its development. The proposed analysis of the Production System state within the United Territorial Community framework and evaluating its development dynamics shows the necessity of forming a system of generalized vector-scalar, situationally oriented indicators.

The article presents the issue of risk assessment of innovations. Specificity of technological innovation realized in manufacturing companies has been particularly well described here. An original method of assessing the innovative projects risk has been presented. The elaborated method has been implemented in three enterprises, the business activity of which is not typical for electrical engineering, metal and mechanical engineering and companies which are going to carry out the innovative project simultaneously with already started innovative projects. Moreover, an example of the risk assessment of a chosen technological innovation has been presented.

The article deals with the issue of the links between technological and marketing innovations. The theoretical part of the paper presents defi nitions and key features of marketing innovations, as well as it indicates the potential cause-effect relations between decisions to introduce process and product innovations and the implementation of new methods in marketing mix. The empirical part of the paper verifi es formulated hypotheses using data derived from the survey on innovation activity of Polish manufacturing enterprises in the years 2008–2010. The results of research show the positive impact of propensity to adapt product innovations on marketing innovations activity of enterprises. Moreover, expenditures on acquisition of knowledge from external sources and expenditures on marketing for new and signifi cantly improved products turned out to be factors stimulating enterprises to implement changes in marketing methods.
Artykuł podejmuje problematykę związaną z relacjami między innowacjami technologicznymi a innowacjami marketingowymi. W części teoretycznej opracowania przedstawiono defi nicje i charakterystykę innowacji marketingowych oraz wskazano na potencjalne zależności przyczynowo-skutkowe między decyzjami o wdrożeniu innowacji produktowych i procesowych a implementacją nowych metod w zakresie marketingu mix. W części empirycznej artykułu dokonano weryfi kacji sformułowanych hipotez badawczych na podstawie danych pochodzących z badania aktywności innowacyjnej polskich przedsiębiorstw przemysłowych w latach 2008–2010. Wyniki badania wskazują na pozytywny wpływ skłonności do wprowadzania innowacji produktowych na aktywność przedsiębiorstw w zakresie stosowania innowacji marketingowych. Ponadto, czynnikami stymulującymi przedsiębiorstwa do implementacji zmian w metodach marketingowych okazały się nakłady inwestycyjne na zakup wiedzy ze źródeł zewnętrznych oraz nakłady inwestycyjne na marketing dotyczący nowych i istotnie ulepszonych produktów.

Sustainability manufacturing is crucial in many aspects in terms of environmental impact. It concerns the consumption of energy, raw materials and materials, as well as the emission of harmful substances and waste. The implementation of sustainability manufacturing requires many actions at various levels, including strategic, tactical and operational ones. In order to implement measures aimed at minimizing the negative impact of the company on the environment, employees’ competencies are needed. The article presents preliminary research on key green competencies for sustainability companies. The research was carried out in the form of individual interviews with medium and large production companies. The result of the research is the division of competencies (knowledge, skills and attitudes) into three stages of the organization’s development, indicating the key competencies for each stage of the development of sustainability management.

This article concerns the issue of modernization of the manufacturing system of national enterprises by implementing modern information technologies. The analysis of the need for the industrial transformation of Ukraine at the macro level has been conducted. The role of modernization of the manufacturing structure of the enterprise is determined. Changes in technology have significant influence on the transformation of enterprise management system. The role of modern information systems in management of technological processes is analyzed. Effective Enterprise Management System (EMS) shall harmoniously combine diverse targeted components into the new competitive socioeconomic system. Changes in areas of EMS improvement during the process of formation of information infrastructure are shown in this research. MES system is a key element of the overall enterprise information structure; it is able to meet the challenges of the manufacturing sphere. The existing barriers to the development of production systems for national enterprises are also analyzed and summarized.

The article examines the relationship between object-orientation and transformations of manufacturing processes. For this purpose, the information- enterprise was defined, as characterized by a change of balance between the processing of materials and processing of information. In section 1 the genesis of the considered transformations was identified, proposing their classification on three levels. Section 2 was devoted to the characteristics of the information-enterprise as an organization of self-learning, virtuality, networking and bio organization. The importance of industrial development trends 4.0 was mentioned. In section 3 features of object-oriented programming were connected to examples of solutions in industrial practice. The business model of information and its surroundings was defined. The summary pointed out the advantages of object-oriented approach to transformations in production.

The competitiveness of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) is vital for the European economy. Also, manufacturing is often the core competence of SMEs. Adopting lean philosophy is a viable and popular approach for developing production and enabling continuous improvement. Despite the increased interest in empirical lean research, the body of knowledge about lean manufacturing development in SMEs is currently insufficient. This paper describes a study of a lean development project in a Finnish-based manufacturing SME. A current state analysis and development proposals are presented. The project applies a framework that other SMEs can utilize in identifying their problem areas and creating development proposals for their production activities. The results of the study contribute to the existing body of knowledge in lean manufacturing. In addition, managers in SMEs can utilize the study results as a reference when designing production development projects.

Both in the Polish and global economy, many companies are looking for solutions and management methods that, with such high competition, will allow them to adapt to the changing conditions and increasingly demanding customers. Many companies, to meet their expectations, began to improve their processes, moving away from the conventional way of thinking for a new approach, and new management methods. The purpose of this article is to analyze the selected methods of the implemented production system, based on Lean Manufacturing principles, which is still evolving. The leitmotiv of this system is the elimination of all loss-making activities, finding the right solution and using the appropriate tools, as well as involvement of employees. The research was carried out on the case study referring to the corporation, which operates in the sanitary technology sector. The paper attempts to assess the scope of implementation of the individual Lean Manufacturing tools and their importance in the process of eliminating of various types of wastage.

This paper proposes the application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process method to support decision making regarding the selection of an Enterprise Resource Planning system in a manufacturing company. The main assumption of the work is that the management of the selection of an ERP system should consider that the most important selection criteria are concerned with the functionality of the ERP system. Besides this, the aspects of total cost of ownership, technical support and implementation time or vendor experience are taken into consideration to guarantee a successful ERP implementation. The proposed procedure of an ERP system selection is dedicated for small and medium manufacturing enterprises. A structure of attributes for the AHP method is proposed on the basis of an analysis and identification of critical success factors. Different kinds of production (make-to-stock, make-to-order and engineer-to-order are taken into consideration). Illustrative examples are also given.

Sheet metal forming is a critical process in the manufacturing industry, which involves shaping sheet metal into desired configurations and structures. The use of digital tools in the lifecycle management of sheet metal forming tools has become increasingly important to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the process. The digital model of tool lifecycle management (TLM) in sheet metal forming provides a complete approach to manage the entire lifecycle of tools used in sheet metal forming. It enables optimization of tool design, simulation of the tooling process, real-time monitoring of tool conditions, and retirement and replacement of tools. This approach improves efficiency, reduces costs, and ensures optimal performance in sheet metal forming. The paper presents an elaborate analysis of the development of TLM models concerning the progress in ICT modelling and its implementation in the field of sheet metal forming. Furthermore, the paper includes an exemplary TLM model for an industrial enterprise.

Technological progress is the driving force behind industrial development. It is a multidimensional and multi-level phenomenon. In this article we focus on its three manifestations: information and communication technologies (ICT), Industry 4.0 and agile manufacturing. The aim of this article is to analyse the relationship between these constructs as they are undoubtedly interrelated. ICT plays a key role, but it is not a goal itself. They are a prerequisite for the implementation of Industry 4.0, but together with it they serve to achieve agility by the manufacturing system and, as a result, achieve a competitive advantage by companies operating in turbulent and unpredictable environment. The literature findings in this paper are part of a broader study conducted on the impact of ICT on agility of SMEs operating in India. Therefore, we include also subsections showing the level of this relationship in Indian SMEs.
