The paper refers to pulverization and sintering of the (Fe80 Nb6 B14 )0.88 Tb0.12 high coercive alloy. The powder was sintered using the ultra-fast current aided method. It turned out that too long discharge time leads to appearing of a soft magnetic phase and simultaneously, decrease in coercivity of the compacted powder. Nevertheless, it was possible to establish preference technology parameters, preserving magnetic hardness of the alloy. As a final test, an impact of Co-powder addition on magnetic properties was studied. The introduced soft magnetic phase (about 20 wt. %) caused about 30% increase of magnetic remanence, which is a resultof direct exchange interactions between the two phases.

The magnetic properties of Fe-based composite materials with different particle sizes were investigated. The results of energy loss density were obtained from measurements of the static (DC) hysteresis cycles ranging from 0,2 to 1,4 T. In turn, the results of power loss density were obtained from measurements of the dynamic (AC) hysteresis cycles ranging from 20 to 400 Hz and at the maximum flux density 0,3; 0,9 and 1,3 T. Two sets of specimens was analyzed in the investigation: the specimens compacted under pressure of 800 MPa and hardened at 500°C and the specimens compacted under different pressure and hardened at 500°C. Specimens of the second set had the same density. The study confirmed the influence of particle size distribution on magnetic properties of Fe-based soft magnetic composites.

The SMCs are composed of iron powder with dielectric and have a lot of advantages in comparison to commonly used electrical steel. The paper deals with the modelling and analysis of theSRMproduced by Emerson Electric Co. forwashing machines. Numerical calculations and modelling were done using the FEMM 4.2 program. Magnetic flux densities and magnetic flux lines were calculated, as well as electromagnetic torque and inductance for changing the position of a stator to a rotor. The obtained results were compared with other measurement results and are quite similar. The developed numerical model will be used for the project of a motor with an SMC magnetic circuit.

Opis:
Materials with so-called soft magnetic properties are an important object of material engineering research due to their potential application, among others, in the construction of low-loss transformer cores. Such properties are typical for alloys with an amorphous structure and with a high content of ferromagnetic elements: Fe, Co, Ni. Difficulties related with obtaining alloys which meet satisfactory dimensions result in the search for new solutions. One of them is the production of composites based on ferromagnetic powders obtained from amorphous alloys. This paper presents results of structure research for composite materials produced in a multi-stage production process. Magnetic composites were made on the basis of a bulk amorphous Fe70B20Y5Nb4Mo1 alloy produced by the injection method. On the basis of the obtained powder, two series of moldings were made: with 0.5% resin and covered with high-temperature varnish. Final composites were produced by using high temperature isostatic press. On the basis of the conducted research, it was found that the composites without resin are characterized by distinctly better magnetic properties as compared to resin-bonded composites.

Opis:
The paper focuses on the effect of both the aluminium alloy addition and microstructural inhomogeneties on the magnetic behaviour of soft magnetic materials tested at low frequencies. The IIPC material (base on the commercial Somaloy 1P powder) has been blended with different amounts of commercially aluminium alloy Alumix 321 (0, 5 and 10 wt %). Specimens with a different green density were obtained by pressing at a pressure in the range from 400 to 800 MPa. Different thermal treatments (in air or nitrogen at the maximum temperature of 500ºC for 30 min) were carried out on the evaluated systems. The microstructure investigation revealed that for materials with high aluminium alloy contents, pores are located nearby or around the aluminium alloy particles. The heat treatment regime resulted in a coarse-grained structure with a small number of inclusions within the grains and at the grain boundaries. The comparison of the results indicated that the magnetic properties were considerably dependent on the microstructural inhomogeneities.
Zastosowano różne obróbki cieplne (w powietrzu i azocie) ustalając maksymalną temperaturę 500ºC.

Opis:
Strontium ferrite was compounded with ethylene-propylene-diene monomer rubber (EPDM) to prepare rubber magnetic composites. Traditional sulfur as well as peroxide curing system were applied for cross-linking of the rubber matrices. The main objective of the work was to investigate the influence of magnetic filler content and type of curing system on the cross-linking, magnetic and physical-mechanical properties of the prepared composites. The results of the study revealed that EPDM based magnetic composites can be efficiently prepared by applying of both, sulfur and peroxide curing systems. Slightly higher values of tensile strength were found to have composites cured with peroxide curing system, what can be attributed to the suitable combination of dicumyl peroxide and co-agent (i.e. ethylene glycol dimethacrylate). The application of strontium ferrite into both type composites leads to a significant improvement of the remanent magnetic induction.
Do kauczuku etylenowo-propylenowo-dienowego (EPDM) wprowadzono ferryt strontu w celu uzyskania magnetycznych kompozytów gumowych. Do wulkanizacji mieszanek kauczukowych użyto zarówno tradycyjnych siarkowych, jak i nadtlenkowych zespołów sieciujących. Głównym celem pracy było zbadanie wpływu zawartości magnetycznego napełniacza oraz rodzaju zespołu wulkanizującego na właściwości magnetyczne i fizyko-mechaniczne otrzymanych materiałów kompozytowych. Wyniki uzyskanych badań potwierdziły możliwość efektywnego otrzymywania kompozytów gumowych zarówno poprzez wulkanizację siarkową, jak i nadtlenkową. Nieznacznie większą wytrzymałość na rozciąganie kompozytów usieciowanych za pomocą nadtlenkowego zespołu wulkanizującego można przypisać odpowiedniej kombinacji nadtlenku dikumylu i koagenta (tzn. dimetakrylanu glikolu etylenowego). Zastosowanie ferrytu strontu w obu rodzajach kompozytów przyczyniło się do znacznego zwiększenia szczątkowej indukcji magnetycznej.

The paper presents method of measuring the magnetic properties such as magnetic permeability and determination of the hysteresis B – H loop of magnetorheological composites. Magnetorheological composites are composition in which polarizable magnetic particles are dispersed in the soft elastomer mould. Magnetorheological composites have a big potential, which can be used in the aviation sector or in the motorization. Defining the magnetic properties of magnetorheological composites is essential; it allows determining the possibility of use of such materials and also gives opportunity to adapt materials characteristics to the needs of design. In the Institute of Aviation during the project “Butterfly wing“, the specialized test stand for testing of magnetic composite materials has been designed and manufactured. Construction of the test stand is based on electromagnet yoke, which allow generating magnetic field with a value above 1.5 T at low coercion value. Tests on the test stand were preceded by a simulation in the Maxwell Ansys environment. The article presents subsequent stages of magnetorheological materials testing, starting with electromagnet yoke characterization relative to the air gap to determining relation between magnetic induction B, and magnetizing current I, determining the correction factor of the electromagnet and ending on the measurement of magnetic B – H hysteresis loop of tested composite materials.

Opis:
The article presents the basic properties of composite materials used for the construction of special ships. Static and dynamic characteristics of materials such as wood and polyester-glass composites are presented. Noteworthy are materials such as surface modified wood and polyester-glass composites with the addition of recyclate. Composite materials are widely used materials for the construction of non-magnetic warships. The article describes the properties of surface modified wood with polymethyl methacrylate and a polyester-glass composite with the addition of recyclate. The recyclate is fragmented, milled polyester-glass scrap. The content of the recyclate greatly affects the mechanical properties of the composite. The properties of the composite with the addition of recyclate depend on the recyclate content as well as the production technology and size of the recycled granulates. The test results showed that the increase in the recycled content causes a decrease in the mechanical properties of the composite. However, it should be remembered that these materials originated from waste, waste that is not subject to self-degradation, which have a very negative impact on the natural environment. At present, where there is a very large pollution of the natural environment, the processing and management of huge amounts of composite waste is an essential goal. A significant amount of recyclate significantly reduces the mechanical properties of the composite; however, the same large amount of recycled material has been transformed and used. The manufactured material and its structural elements are still non-magnetic structures and can be used on a less loaded element. The choice of material for the construction of special ships elements is determined not only by its properties but also by knowledge, experience, method of processing, economic and technical risk.

Opis:
The paper presents the possibility of fabricating ceramic-metal composites by an innovative method of centrifugal slip casting in the magnetic field. It was examined whether the use of this method would allow obtaining a gradient concentration of metal particles in the ceramic matrix. In the applied technique, the horizontal rotation axis was used. The study investigated the effect of solid phase content on the properties and microstructure of the products. Water-based suspensions with 35, 40, 45 and 50 vol.% of solid-phase content were prepared with 10 vol.% additional of nickel powder. The viscosity of prepared slurries was considered. The gradient distribution of nickel particles in the zirconia matrix was observed on SEM. Vickers hardness of ZrO2-Ni composites has been measured. The research revealed that the physical properties depend on the volume fraction of solid content and increase as the volume of solid content increases.
