Opis:
Nowadays, the applications of the electrical machines with permanent magnets become very common, because of the outstanding properties of these devices in comparison with the induction machines. PM machines do not indicate electrical losses with the field excitation, which means increasing of their efficiency. This is a very important factor considering the urgent need of the energy conservation. Although, numerical methods for a field computation are time consuming, they provide accurate results without making any simplification of the geometry. The paper presents a comparison of 2D and 3D magnetic analysis of a PM servo motor. The analyzed servo motor is designed with a surface magnet rotor and produced by the VUES Brno company. The applied PM material is of rare earth type NdFeB. This material is characterized by a very high energy product. 2D model of this servo motor is created using AutoCAD program. The 2D magnetic analysis is computed using FEMM (finite element method magnetics). The 3D magnetic analysis is computed using a modem technique in the field of magnetic analysis of electrical machines. 3D model of the servo motor is generated using RMxprt program. The 3D magnetic analysis of the generated 3D model is computed using Maxwell 3D program. The program Maxwell 3D generates fine mesh automatically with a high accuracy. The distribution of the magnetic field inside the servo motor is computed for the case of the nominal current in both of 2D and 3D magnetic analysis. The distribution of the magnetic flux density according to the air gap length is presented too. The FEM (finite element method) is used for both 2D and 3D magnetic analysis of this servo motor.

This work presents a method for measuring the magnetic susceptibility of soil samples based on interactions of magnetic particles contained in a tested sample with a weighed permanent magnet placed in the balance mechanical design. The MYA 2.4Y microbalance manufactured by Radwag Wagi Elektroniczne, Poland, was used to perform mass measurements. The weighing system was adjusted for mass indication using a certified mass standard, and for magnetic susceptibility indication using a certified magnetic susceptibility standard. The volume of each analysed soil sample was 3.93 cm3 and was similar to the volume and the size of the magnetic susceptibility standard. The research was carried out for 10 soil samples with a magnetic susceptibility range varying from 20 to 1600x10-8 m3 kg-1. The soil samples contained technogenic magnetic particles and particles of natural magnetite of geogenic origin. The study was performed for a field of 2 mT.

Opis:
The paper presents results on whether and how the magnetic domain structure in maraging steel undergoes any change due to the aging process. It continues the works on application of correlation methods and fractal analysis into studies of magnetic properties of various steel alloys using Scanning Probe Microscopy. It is aimed at verifying the usefulness of the structure function for description of spatial changes in shape and orientation of magnetic domains, and the magnitude of magnetic stray field affected by the heat treatment. Obtained results suggest that despite vanishing magnetic tip-surface interaction, and hence vanishing magnetic stray field, magnetic domains remain nearly perfectly isotropic although randomly oriented. Similar to isotropic real surfaces, the fractal dimension of the magnetic domains turns out to be independent of the structural changes induced by the aging process, whereas the topothesy is found to vary within order of magnitude along with changes in the magnetic stray field. After all, obtained results lead to conclusion that the aging process leaves its fingerprints in the structure of the steel alloys, which can be studied using numerical analysis of images of magnetic interactions between vibrating tip and the stray field.

The paper presents results of a research on simulation of magnetic tip-surface interaction as a function of the lift height in the magnetic force microscopy. As expected, magnetic signal monotonically decays with increasing lift height, but the question aris es, whether or not optimal lift height eventually exists. To estimate such a lift height simple procedure is proposed in the paper based on the minimization of the fractal dimension of the averaged profile of the MFM signal. In this case, the fractal dimension ser ves as a measure of distortion of a pure tip-surface magnetic coupling by various side effects, e.g. thermal noise and contribution of topographic features. Obtained simulation results apparently agree with experimental data.

The paper presents the scaling-based approach to analysis and prediction of magnetic anisotropy in grain-oriented steels. Results of the anisotropy scaling indicate the existence of two universality classes. The hybrid approach to prediction of magnetic anisotropy, combining the scaling analysis with the ODFs method, is proposed. This approach is examined in prediction of angular dependencies of magnetic induction as well as magnetization curves for the 111-35S5 steel. It is shown that it is possible to predict anisotropy of magnetic properties based on measurements in three arbitrary directions for φ = 0°, 60° and 90°. The relatively small errors between predicted and measured values of magnetic induction are obtained.

Presented work is focused on the use of correlation methods for numerical analysis of magnetic stray field over the surface of materials. Obtained results extend our previous findings about application of the autocorrelation function and the fractal analysis for characterization of magnetic surfaces. Several domain images are recorded at various tip-sample gaps (i.e. the lift heights), and then their average widths were extrapolated down to the zero distance in order to estimate the width seen right on the surface. Apart from that, fractal parameters were derived from autocorrelation function, which turned out to be sensitive to the lift height, and might constitute universal measure (the critical lift height), above which the MFM signal became dominated by thermal noises and non-magnetic residual interactions.
Niniejsza praca dotyczy zastosowania metod korelacyjnych do numerycznej analizy obrazów rozkładu pola magnetycznego emitowanego z obszarów spontanicznego namagnesowania.

Opis:
Silicone-based elastic composites with a metallic filler have been strongly developed in recent years. These materials are considered applicable in many fields of science, including medicine. The advantageous mechanical parameters provided by the NdFeB micropowder reinforcement are balanced by the elasticity and biocompatibility guaranteed by the silicone matrix. So far, there have been several reports regarding such composites’ properties important from the biomedical point of view. The article deals with the physicochemical parameters of the new material for medical applications as well as the properties of the incubation liquid. The aim of the work was to determine effects of both the magnetic particles content (0, 30, 50, 70 wt%) and the incubation process under physiological conditions on the physicochemical properties of the material and the solution after incubation. The samples were incubated for various periods of time (8, 16 and 24 weeks) at the temperature of 37°C in a 0.9 wt% NaCl solution. The density, water contact angle, and water absorption of the materials were measured. The electrolytic conductivity, pH value, redox potential, surface tension, and kinematic viscosity were determined for the liquids after the materials incubation. The results obtained for pure silicone and the silicone-based composite reinforced with NdFeB microparticles were compared. The results indicate that incubation affects the samples and liquids, changing their physiochemical properties. For composites, the density decreased, which results in a noticeable concentration of the examined elements in the solutions.

Opis:
The anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) of sedimentary rocks has been used for interpreting wide range of processes: early rock deformations, palaeotransport directions, as well as the evolution of mineral content. Various sedimentary factors which may determine magnetic susceptibility within lacustrine, river, floodplain and swamp deposits have been examined in the Oravica section of the Orava-Nowy Targ Basin. Multiple components of mineral content: illite, chlorite, smectite, kaolinite, quartz and unidentified high susceptibility phase make an AMS interpretation of this content ambiguous. However, this method may be useful for tracing early diagenetic geochemical/microbial processes where iron element is involved. Some sedimentary processes may be recognized from AMS when an assemblage of parameters is studied together: bulk susceptibility, the degree and the shape of anisotropy, principal directions, and the distribution of all these parameters within a set of specimens. Debris-flow processes, as well as lacustrine and floodplain sedimentation are especially well-defined in AMS results. Palaeotransport directions are ambiguous because studied rocks have undergone weak deformation what overprints this sedimentary feature. Most specimens represent an oblate shape of anisotropy and show a good correlation of minimum susceptibility axis and normal to bedding plane.

Several samples of dusts from steel and coke plants (collected mostly with electro filters) were subjected to the investigation of content of mineral phases in their particles. Additionally, sample of bog iron ore and metallurgical slurry was studied. Next, the magnetic susceptibility of all the samples was determined, and investigations of iron-containing phases were performed using transmission Mössbauer spectrometry. The values of mass-specific magnetic susceptibility varied in a wide range: from 59 to above 7000 × 10−8 m3kg−1. The low values are determined for bog iron ore, metallurgical slurry, and coke dusts. The extremely high was obtained for metallurgical dusts. The Mössbauer spectra and X-ray diffraction patterns point to the presence of the following phases containing iron: hematite and oxidized magnetite (in coke and metallurgical dusts as well as metallurgical slurry), traces of magnetite fi ne grains fraction (in metallurgical dusts), amorphous glassy silicates with paramagnetic Fe3+ and Fe2+ ions, traces of pyrrhotite (in coke dusts), α-Fe and nonstoichiometric wüstite (in metallurgical slurry), as well as ferrihydrite nanoparticles (in bog iron ore). For individual samples of metallurgical dusts, the relative contributions of Fe2+/3+ ions in octahedral B sites and Fe2+ ions in tetrahedral A sites in magnetite spinel structure differs considerably.

In this paper, three types of MGPM machines are present, and a quantitative comparison among them is performed by finite element analysis (FEA). The magnetic field distribution, stable torque and back EMF are obtained at no-load. The results show that three types of MGPM machine are suitable for different application fields respectively according to their own advantages, such as high torque and back EMF, which form an important foundation for MGPM electrical machine research.
