Opis:
A new macroscopic model for non-stationary heat transfer processes in a periodic hexagonal-type anisotropic rigid conductor is formulated. The main aim of this contribution is to show that the macroscopic properties of such a conductor are transversally isotropic. The tolerance averaging technique as a tool of macroscopic modelling is taken into account.
Celem pracy jest sformułowanie makroskopowego modelu niestacjonarnego przepływu ciepła w lokalnie anizotropowych heksagonalnych przewodnikach prostych. Jako narzędzie modelowania zastosowano technikę tolerancyjnego uśredniania. Sformułowano warunki wystarczające na to, by otrzymane równania były izotropowe. Zasadniczym rezultatem pracy jest wykazanie, że własności makroskopowe lokalnie anizotropowech przewodników mogą być transwersalnie izotropowe.

Opis:
A poetic cycle is a specific case of poetic contextualisation and for translators this means additional efforts in identifying the micro- and macro-level network of functional and semantic links. Joseph Brodsky’s cycle A Part of Speech represents a highly conceptual approach and strong integration of each and every poem. In this context the paper briefly outlines different types of micro- and macroscopic approaches to poetry translation. Further practical analysis of some translation issues observed in the respective English and Latvian translations show that decisions of poetry translators are informed by different backgrounds in the author-text-reader relationships. Artistic creativity is certainly present in the translation activity but this does not mean that a completely independent target text is produced.

In this study, pine and beech sapwood samples coated with 12 different waterborne acrylic resin coating systems were exposed to natural weathering in Trabzon, Turkey. The natural weathering test continued for 18 months. In these coating systems, water in different proportions, boric acid, two different acrylic resins and three different UV absorbers supplied by BASF were used. The aim was to compare the durability of 12 different coating systems in natural weathering in terms of colour change, surface roughness and macroscopic evaluation. These test methods were used to evaluate the appearance and physical properties of the coatings after the natural weathering test. The results led to the selection of the best coating formulation for wood durability in natural outdoor conditions. The appearance and physical values after 18 months of the weathering test showed that boric acid increases the durability of the coating for use in outdoor conditions. Additionally, the coating formulation containing especially acrylic resin and Tinuvin 400 DW provided the highest durability against outdoor conditions.

The business structure and process development in many modern companies is assisted by architectures, frameworks, and a new generation of computer systems with a broad representation of methods and tools of design and modelling, i.e. object-oriented, event-oriented, activity-oriented, process-oriented, agent-oriented, communication-oriented, behaviour-oriented, etc. are recommended. The aim of this paper is to compare micro- vs. macro scope modelling and to investigate the relevance of micro- and/or macro simulation in the context of business process management (BPM) modelling for organizational design/redesign. The BPM modelling features and some specific issues of simulation modelling are discussed. Combined with BPM modelling methodologies, these issues are used to drive a concept for development of an integrated methodology for BPM models’ building and simulation approach in organizational BPM design/redesign projects.

Opis:
The article discusses the problems of modeling of energy requirements to overcome grade resistance in vehicle motion in macroscopic scale simulations. Authors describe ways of modeling this requirement with the use of forward and backward facing models in microscopic simulations. The data limitation problem is defined, i.e. data only available in sparse values, describing only altitude of nodes between sections at length of several dozen to several hundred meters. Authors propose to use potential energy change as basic approximation of energy demand to overcome grade resistance and show estimated impact of motor and inverter efficiency on electric energy consumption. More accurate model is proposed based on additional road section parameter – hypothetical road peak. Based on carried out verification with an example of route and speed profile, significant improvement of energy estimation made with the three-parameter section altitude description is shown.

The monograph is devoted to studies of the problem of a macroscopic body known as the soccer-ball problem in the frame of different deformed algebras leading to space quantization. It is shown that this problem can be solved in a deformed space with a minimal length, in a noncommutative phase space, in a space with a Lie-algebraic noncommutativity, in a twist-deformed space-time due to the relation of parameters of corresponding algebras with mass. In addition, we conclude that this relation gives a possibility to obtain a list of important results in quantum space including recovering the weak equivalence principle, preserving the properties of the kinetic energy, obtaining the Galilean and Lorentz transformations independent of the mass of the particle.

This paper describes the preliminary results of my PhD research within the ERC project “HisTochText”. The aim is to perform macroscopic analyses of archaeological papers from the Pelliot Collection. They are stored in the National Library of France (Bibliothèque nationale de France). Most were discovered in the oasis kingdom of Kucha, inscribed in an ancient Indian writing, brāhmῑ. The language was unknown in France. Kucha was a meeting place for many influences both western and eastern, insofar as paper analysis seeks to determine technological influences and local adaptations. Macroscopic analyses rely on traces found in the material of the paper which may be the result of the many stages in the life of the document: the raw material, the manufacturing process, the conditions of use and the storage conditions, both ancient and modern. To this day 350 fragments have been observed. Little is known about papermaking in Central Asia. As a consequence, every shred of information must be examined in order to determine the differences from and similarities to paper manufacturing in Xinjiang.

This paper deal with the evaluation of quality of lacquered sheets with different pre-treatments after corrosive loading. Samples will be divided into groups according to the type and duration corrosion loadings. After exposure to corrosive salt mist corrosion chamber, the samples will be evaluated macroscopically according to relevant standards. Low degradation after all time corrosion load was on the sample pre-treated with an alkaline degreasing in combination with a yellow chromating and the samples pre-treated with an alkaline degreasing in combination with surface passivation. On these samples showed no loss of adhesion to the base material and the evaluation of delamination due to corrosion during loading had a low degree of degradation. Surfaces after the cross-cut test did not for both sets of samples after corrosion load all times no defects in the adhesion layer.

The thin-walled cooking pottery of the early to late Roman period originating from the area of Morphou Bay in the northern part of Cyprus, excavated by the Paphos Agora Project of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, is studied in this paper in order to shed new light on the nature of the supply patterns of this extraordinary class of pottery. The collected data—on the macroscopic characteristic of the ware and shape—and a chronological analysis as well as quantitative study of the assemblage have indicated a continuous presence of this group in Nea Paphos, reflecting perhaps some sort of special social requirements combined with an economic background.

An analysis of the measured macroscopic withinwafer variations for threshold voltage (Vth) and on-current (Ion) over several technology generations (180 nm, 100 nm and 65 nm) is reported. It is verified that the dominant microscopic variations of the MOSFET device can be extracted quantitatively from these macroscopic variation data by applying the surface-potential compact model Hiroshima University STARC IGFET model 2 (HiSIM2), which is presently brought into industrial application. Only a small number of microscopic parameters, representing substrate doping (NSUBC), pocket-implantation doping (NSUBP), carrier-mobility degradation due to gate-interface roughness (MUESR1) and channel-length variation during the gate formation (XLD) are found sufficient to quantitatively reproduce the measured macroscopic within-wafer variations of Vth and Ion for all channel length Lg and all technology generations. Quantitative improvements from 180 nm to 65 nm are confirmed to be quite large for MUESR1 (about 70%) and Lmin(XLD) (55%) variations, related to the gate-oxide interface and the gate-stack structuring, respectively. On the other hand, doping-related technology advances, which are reflected by the variation magnitudes of NSUBC (30%) and NSUBP (25%), are found to be considerably smaller. Furthermore, specific combinations of extreme microscopic parameter-variation values are able to represent the boundaries of macroscopic fabrication inaccuracies for Vth and Ion. These combinations are found to remain identical, not only for all Lg of a given technology node, but also for all investigated technologies with minimum Lg of 180 nm, 100 nm and 65 nm.

Macroscopic and microscopic composition of lignite from the Szczerców deposit belonging to the Bełchatów Lignite Mine (Polish Lowlands) has been examined. The macroscopic composition was determined according to the newest lithological classification of humic coal. On this basis, it has been shown that the main lithotypes occurring in the Szczerców deposit are the detritic and xylodetritic lignites. The petrographic composition of the investigated lignite was determined microscopically for 11 samples. The examined lignite is predominantly composed of macerals from the huminite group. It is in the range from 75.2 to 86%, including atrinite (23.1–40.7%, averaging 28.9%) and densinite (18.2–41.4 %, averaging 24.9%). It also demonstrated that the statistical variability of the macerals content from the huminite group in the studied lignite is very weak in all samples. In addition, the random reflectance of ulminite was measured traditionally. The results, ranging from 0.247 to 0.282%, with the maximum permissible standard deviation < 0.07, were achieved for all analysed lignite samples.

In the past, the density-gradient term of second-order macroscopic models was replaced with a speed-gradient term to rectify the rearward movement of traffic waves. Hither, a classical speed-gradient macroscopic model is extended to account for the lateral flow dynamics on a multi-lane road. The anisotropic model is modified to capture some inherent vehicular multi-lane traffic features; lateral viscosity and velocity differentials. These variables are quantized within the scope of a two-dimensional spatial domain as opposed to the existing one-dimensional model. A detailed exemplification of acceleration and deceleration waves, stop-and-go waves, and cluster effects are presented to explain the path of information flow. All these non-linear flow properties are evident throughout the simulation.
