    Opis:
    Despite a lot of works on teaching and teacher education, little attention has been paid to the search for the essence, contents and conditions of the category of “responsibility” as presented by the contemporary philosophers. In this paper a variety of theoretical references to the approaches and traditions dealing with the widely seen field of responsibility in the philosophy is presented, and consequently an attempt to translate them into the problems of pedagogical responsibility, which amounts to resolving doubts inherent in the area defined by the question about relationships between the teacher’s responsibility and the social function s/he performs, is undertaken. The problems dealt with in my paper may constitute an important contribution to the development of our knowledge about the teacher’s profession. The obtained analytical results of the research prove the existence of the need for the educational sciences to solve a lot of significant problems. In order to deal with them the answer to the question “What teacher does the modern school need?” must be found. In connection with this the answers to the following questions should be given: What conditions teacher’s responsibility? Who does the teacher feel answerable to and how is (or will be) his responsibility evaluated? What or/and who is the teacher responsible for? Does the fact that the teacher’s work is monitored and assessed by the units of educational authorities mean that the teacher is answerable only to them? Do teachers focus only on carrying out orders and achieving their own goals and the goals of the “insiders” in the system? How do teachers perceive the contemporary world and its future? What tasks is the contemporary teacher assigned in the light of the demands of the changing world?

    It is often claimed that structured collections of individuals with mental or cognitive states—such collections as courts, countries, and corporations—have mental or cognitive states of their own. The existing critical literature casts substantial doubt on this claim. In this paper, I evaluate a defensive move made by some proponents of the view that groups have mental or cognitive states of their own: to concede that group states and individual states aren’t of the same specific natural kinds, while holding that groups instantiate different species of mental or cognitive states—perhaps a different species of cognition itself—from those instantiated by humans. In order to evaluate this defense of group cognition, I present a view of natural kinds—or at least of the sort of evidence that supports inferences to sameness of natural kind—a view I have previously dubbed the ‘tweak-and-extend’ theory, as well as a theory of cognitive systems. Guided by the tweak-and-extend approach, I arrive at a tentative conclusion: that what is common to models of individual cognitive processing and models of group processing does not suffice to establish sameness of cognitive (or mental) kinds, properties, or state-types across individuals and extant groups, not even at a generic level.

    Opis:
    Difficulties resulting from the social perception of people with disabilities, and the personal assessment of their own disability are important for her/his relationship with other people. Therefore, it is worth asking what the perceptions are, of those who experience psychosocial effects due to their physical disability, towards people with intellectual disabilities, hearing impairments, visual impairments, mental illnesses, as well as their own physically disabled group. To analyse the perception of people with a physical disability, the study explores three areas: the acceptance or rejection of society’s stigmatization towards persons with disabilities; integrative versus separative social orientations of people with physical disability; social preferences of people with physical disability regarding other disabled people. The research sample consisted of 75 people with physical disabilities, who suffer from damage to the locomotor system. The data was collected using a questionnaire The findings highlight that the response from those who were physically disabled agreed with the opinions of general society, not only with the issue of promoting integrated solutions and offering assistance, but also having the same preferences and opinions about specific types of disability. However, their perception regarding their own group was noticeably different from that of general society.

    Michael Moore defends an account of scientific, mental, moral, and legal properties, according to which there are not only natural kinds, but also moral and functional kinds; and he maintains, more specifically that: 1) distinctively legal phenomena, such as legal rights, precedent, malice, etc. are functional kinds, in the sense that they have a nature that consists in the function they fulfill in law, 2) the function of a functional kind is that effect, or those effects, of the functional kind that causally contribute more than does any of its other effects to the goal of the larger system within which it occurs, and 3) functional kinds can be reduced to indefinitely large disjunctions of natural properties, 4) the relevant version of naturalism is metaphysically reductionist naturalism, and 5) functional kinds play an indispensable role in the explanation of human behaviour. I argue, however, 1) that the method for determining the function of a (purported) functional kind proposed by Moore is too indeterminate to be able to pin down the function. I also argue 2) that it turns out to be very difficult to identify the properties that are part of the indefinitely large disjunction of natural properties which, on Moore’s analysis, is identical to a functional kind, 3) that functional kinds cannot be part of the best explanation of human behaviour, because they lack nomological unity, and that they lack such unity because they are necessarily multiply realizable, and 4) that Moore will therefore have to give up: a) the view that functional kinds are identical to indefinitely large disjunctions of natural properties, b) the view that functional kinds are part of the best explanation of human behaviour, or both (a and b). I also argue 5) that the idea of a functional kind should not play a central role in any theory of law or legal reasoning.
    Michael Moore broni ujęcia własności naukowych, umysłowych, moralnych i prawnych, zgodnie z którym istnieją nie tylko rodzaje naturalne, ale także rodzaje moralne i funkcjonalne; a dokładniej utrzymuje, że: 1) zjawiska wyraźnie prawne, takie jak prawa (legal rights), precedens, zła wola itp. są rodzajami funkcjonalnymi w tym sensie, że ich natura polega na funkcji, jaką pełnią w prawie, 2) funkcją rodzaju funkcjonalnego jest ten skutek lub te skutki rodzaju funkcjonalnego, które przyczyniają się bardziej niż jakikolwiek inny skutek do osiągnięcia celu większego systemu, w którym występują, 3) rodzaje funkcjonalne można zredukować do nieokreślenie dużych dysjunkcji własności naturalnych, 4) właściwą wersją naturalizmu jest metafizycznie redukcjonistyczny naturalizm, oraz 5) rodzaje funkcjonalne odgrywają niezbędną rolę w wyjaśnianiu ludzkiego zachowania. Twierdzę jednak, 1) że metoda określania funkcji (rzekomego) rodzaju funkcjonalnego zaproponowana przez Moore’a jest zbyt nieokreślona, by można było tę funkcję ustalić. Twierdzę również, 2) że bardzo trudno jest zidentyfikować własności, które są częścią nieokreślenie dużej dysjunkcji własności naturalnych, która w analizie Moore’a jest tożsama z rodzajem funkcjonalnym, 3) że rodzaje funkcjonalne nie mogą być częścią najlepszego wyjaśnienia ludzkiego zachowania, ponieważ brakuje im jedności nomologicznej, a brakuje im takiej jedności, ponieważ są z konieczności realizowane na różne sposoby, oraz 4) że Moore będzie musiał w związku z tym zrezygnować: a) z poglądu, że rodzaje funkcyjne są identyczne z nieokreślenie dużymi dysjunkcjami naturalnych własności, b) z poglądu, że rodzaje funkcyjne są częścią najlepszego wyjaśnienia ludzkiego zachowania, lub z obu (a i b). Twierdzę również, 5) że idea rodzaju funkcjonalnego nie powinna odgrywać centralnej roli w żadnej teorii prawa czy rozumowania prawniczego. [tłumaczenie Redakcja]

    Opis:
    The article considers the essence of innovative activity and presents results of the study of innovative processes, conducted by agricultural enterprises of Ukraine. To detect peculiarities of those processes, the researchers used results of examination of the innovative activity of agricultural enterprises in the Lviv region. The work confirms a rather high level of innovative activity of agricultural enterprises, compared to the enterprises of other branches of the economy of Ukraine. It secures positive transformations in the system of agrarian production of the country. The work demonstrates expansion of some kinds of innovations (in product, process, organization, and marketing) by agricultural enterprises of the Lviv region. The authors of the research have analyzed changes in the expenditures of agricultural enterprises, arguing the dependence of innovative activity on resource attraction. The article suggests perspective directions of some kinds of product innovations at agricultural enterprises.
    W artykule omówiono istotę działalności innowacyjnej i przedstawiono wyniki badań procesów innowacyjnych w przedsiębiorstwach rolniczych Ukrainy. Aby poznać specyfikę tych procesów, wykorzystano wyniki badania działalności innowacyjnej w przedsiębiorstwach rolniczych regionu lwowskiego. Stosunkowo wysoki poziom innowacyjności wymienionych przedsiębiorstw został ustalony w porównaniu z przedsiębiorstwami innych gałęzi ukraińskiej gospodarki, co zapewniło zauważalne pozytywne zmiany w systemie produkcji rolnej w kraju. Pokazano rozprzestrzenianie się niektórych rodzajów innowacji (produktowych, procesowych, organizacyjnych, marketingowych) w przedsiębiorstwach rolniczych badanego regionu. Przeanalizowane zostały zmiany kosztów przedsiębiorstw rolniczych, które odzwierciedlają zależność innowacji od intensywności przyciągania zasobów. Rozważono perspektywy niektórych rodzajów innowacji produktowych w przedsiębiorstwach rolnych.

    The article deals with the development of children’s reading skills that are regarded as the major foundational skills for all school-based learning, academic and occupational success. Thus, parents can and should play a significant role in helping their children to develop reading skills and in encouraging their growth in this respect. It is often emphasised that starting early is the best way for parents to prepare their child for school and life progress. As parents can have a huge impact on how quickly their children learn to read, the ways parents can help their children with reading are suggested in the article. It also includes activities for families with children that can make learning experiences out of the everyday routines in which parents and their children participate if they want to help children to gain the skills they need to become readers. The resulting steps that parents can take to help the child become a successful reader are offered. The author considers that it is important for parents to know what children like in books and the kinds of books that are the most suitable for children at different ages, and that the books that parents pick to read with the child are very important.
    Artykuł dotyczy rozwoju umiejętności czytania dzieci, która jest uważana za podstawową umiejętność szkolną, akademicką i zawodowego sukcesu. Rodzice mogą i powinni odgrywać znaczącą rolę w pomaganiu dzieciom w rozwijaniu umiejętności czytania i zachęcaniu ich do rozwoju w tym zakresie. Podkreśla się, że wczesne rozpoczynanie nauki jest najlepszym sposobem, aby rodzice przygotowali swoje dziecko do rozwoju szkoły i życia. Podkreśla się, że jak najszybciej nauka czytania jest najlepszym sposobem, aby rodzice przygotowywali swoje dziecko do pomyślnych osiągnięć w szkole i życiu. Ponieważ rodzice mogą mieć ogromny wpływ na to, jak szybko ich dzieci uczą się czytać, w artykule zasugerowano sposoby, które rodzice mogą zastosować by pomóc swoim dzieciom w czytaniu. Obejmuje również zajęcia dla rodzin z dziećmi, które sprawiają, że doświadczenia edukacyjne wychodzą z codziennych zajęć, w których uczestniczą rodzice i ich dzieci, jeśli chcą pomóc dzieciom zdobyć umiejętności, których potrzebują, aby stać się czytelnikami. Można zaproponować następujące kroki, które rodzice mogą podjąć, aby dziecko mogło być szczęśliwym czytelnikiem. Autorka uważa, że wiedza na temat tego, co dzieci lubią w książkach i rodzaj książek najbardziej odpowiednich dla dzieci w różnym wieku, jest ważna dla zrozumienia przez rodziców. Podkreśla się, że książki, które rodzice wybierają do czytania z dzieckiem są bardzo ważne.

    The distinction between private relationships and public relationships is connected with a lot of problems in praxis. The nature of the legal relations has an impact on the position of participants in these legal relations and the possibilities to protect their rights. The current line between private relationships and public relationships is still weaker. There are also the possibilities to find the opinions that the distinction between public law and private law is overcome. In the study, the author pointed to some particular situations where there were problems with the determination of the kind of legal relationship and consequences which are connected with this. Finally, he tried to formulate the development possibilities in the future.
    Rozróżnienie między relacjami prywatnymi a publicznymi wiąże się z wieloma problemami w praktyce. Charakter stosunków prawnych ma wpływ na pozycję ich uczestników oraz na możliwości ochrony ich praw. Granica pomiędzy relacjami prywatnymi a publicznymi jest wciąż słabsza. Według niektórych opinii przełamano rozróżnienie między prawem publicznym i prywatnym. W opracowaniu autor wskazał na niektóre szczególne sytuacje, w których występowały problemy z określeniem rodzaju stosunku prawnego oraz na wynikające z tego konsekwencje. Podjęto też próbę sformułowania możliwości rozwoju w przyszłości.

    Functional class (so called “part of speech”) assignment as a kind of meaning-bound word syntactic informationThe traditional division of the lexicon into parts of speech which seems to satisfy the requirements of a syntactic description, on the one hand, and a word formation description, on the other hand, cannot be looked upon as a result of a strict classification covering the totality of the lexicon and being based on a coherent set of criteria. Making the criteria more precise or correcting them is an issue of extreme importance and urgency in the work on the theory of language. Such achievements can help solve many other problems, in particular, syntactic ones. The article presents a scheme of several preliminary steps of an amelioration program (a scheme which has been improved compared to the author’s earlier attempts going in the same direction). The program is based on combinability characteristics of words, i.e. on those properties that are responsible for the tasks to be accomplished by a given class of expressions in making up a higher order unit, i.e. a syntagm (the author emphasizes this point: it is syntagm rather than sentence which is the category the recommended approach is focusing on), and that, importantly, determine the limits of syntactic rules, i.e. the ins and outs of the rules (the limits concerning the overall stock of words).

    The research and technical achievements in the area of lasers are summarized every three years by the National Symposium on Laser Technology held in the Baltic See Resort Świnoujście near Szczecin, Poland. The paper presents a review of the main symposium subjects tracks debated during this key national lase event in September 2012. There are shown developement tendencies of laser materials and technologies and laser asociated branches of optoelectronics in this country, including the efforts of academia, governmental institutes, research businesses and industry. The symposium work are divided to two branches: development of lasers and laser applications, where the laser systems operators and laser users present their achievements. Topical tracks of the meeting are presented, as well as the keynote and invited subjects delivered by key representatives of the laser industry. The STL 2012 was a jubilee meeting held for the Xth time.
