Opis:
The article shows the results of geophysical surveys performed by using Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) method on se lected ragion of P³ock slope of a Tumski hill near Ba sil ica of As sump tion of the Blessed Vir gin Mary in P³ock and in Maszewo by the Vistula River a few ki lo me ters north of P³ock. The above-men tioned sec tions were se - lected due to land slide phe nom ena ob served there. Geo phys i cal sur veys were con ducted in or der to ver ify the state of the dis tri bu tion of elec tri cal re sis tiv ity in the sec tors where mass move ment was iden ti fied. The electrofusion crosssec tion near Ca the dral Ba sil ica shows clays and sands. Also in ERT prospection a zone of loose soils with high re sis - tance is clearly vis i ble. The re sults of the ERT method from Maszewo, in di cates his tor i cal land sur face of a land slide and that the slope in Maszewo con sists of co he sive de pos its. In or der to de scribe these par tic u lar is sues, geo log i cal cross-sec tions and safety fac tor ob tained by cal cu la tion are pre sented for the an a lyzed parts of the slope. The safety factor shows that prob a bil ity of land slide ac tiv ity near Ca the dral Ba sil ica is very un likely and in Maszewo is very high.

Opis:
The article discusses the variety of ways in which the terms “popular” or “populist” could be associated with postwar Shakespearean transcreations in the Central and Eastern European region, pointing out how performers and adaptors challenged the canonical, highbrow status of Shakespeare and used his oeuvre as raw material in experimental forms and genres. Following a discussion on the variety of socio-historical contexts which inspired noteworthy popular and/or populist reworkings in several Central and Eastern European countries, the article takes a more in-depth look at a few specific comic genres, particularly the burlesque and the cabaret in a theoretical framework, and concludes by examining post-1989 experimental theatre practices.

Opis:
The carbon starvation hypothesis (CSH) is one of the current leading hypotheses regarding the mechanism of plant death, although it has not been sufficiently validated due to a lack of evidence. To help verify the role of carbon starvation in plant mortality, we measured the non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) concentration ([NSC]) in different organs (roots, stems, and leaves) of plants of Catlapa bungei clone 9-1 after the cessation of photosynthesis and death due to drought and in well-watered controls. Drought in- duced the loss of NSC reserves, which was observed in all organs at death, and carbon starvation appeared to begin after the cessation of photosynthesis. The [NSC] dynamics, occurrence time of carbon starvation, and survival time varied among the organs, and even within the same organs at different stem heights. Overall, our findings are compatible with the CSH in that carbon starvation occurs in roots, stems, and leaves and concurs with plant death during prolonged drought.

Opis:
The study explored propagation techniques of Entada rheedii Spreng., a threatened medicinal climber species with extremely hard seed coat. Propagation trials included both pre-sowing treatments of seeds for germination and clonal propagation by stem cutting. Pre-sowing treatments included (a) soaking of both cut (notched) and uncut (intact) seeds in water for 0 h, 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h and (b) immersion of intact seeds in 5% acetone solution for 5 min, 10 min, and 20 min before sowing in germination media in polybags. On the other hand, stem cutting involved treating the summer or autumn cuttings with 0%, 0.4%, and 0.8% IBA solution before rooting in non-mist propagator. Notched seeds soaked in water for 48 h showed the fastest seed germination with the highest germination percentages (73.3) and better seedling growth in terms of plant height, collar diameter, leaf number and total dry mass followed by notched seeds soaked in water for 72 h. The slowest germination and the lowest germination percentage (3.3), as well as the poorest growth performance was for intact seeds without any treatment. The highest rooting percent- age with maximum number of roots (36.6) was obtained from the summer cuttings treated with 0.4% IBA solution followed by autumn cuttings with 0.8% IBA and the lowest (43.3% and 8.3 roots) was for summer cuttings in control. The factors also dictated the survival and growth performance of rooted cuttings in the nursery conditions. The outcomes of these trials i.e., notched seeds soaking in water for 48 h will help to enhance the propagation of this valuable medicinal plant species.
