Opis:
The paper presents a simple, systematic and novel graphical method which uses computer graphics for prediction of limit cycles in two dimensional multivariable nonlinear system having rectangular hysteresis and backlash type nonlinearities. It also explores the avoidance of such self-sustained oscillations by determining the stability boundary of the system. The stability boundary is obtained using simple Routh Hurwitz criterion and the incremental input describing function, developed from harmonic balance concept. This may be useful in interconnected power system which utilizes governor control. If the avoidance of limit cycle or a safer operating zone is not possible, the quenching of such oscillations may be done by using the signal stabilization technique which is also described. The synchronization boundary is laid down in the forcing signal amplitudes plane using digital simulation. Results of digital simulations illustrate accuracy of the method for 2×2 systems.

Opis:
Source/filter models have frequently been used to model sound production of the vocal apparatus and musical instruments. Beginning in 1968, in an effort to measure the transfer function (i.e., transmission response or filter characteristic) of a trombone while being played by expert musicians, sound pressure signals from the mouthpiece and the trombone bell output were recorded in an anechoic room and then subjected to harmonic spectrum analysis. Output/input ratios of the signals’ harmonic amplitudes plotted vs. harmonic frequency then became points on the trombone’s transfer function. The first such recordings were made on analog 1/4 inch stereo magnetic tape. In 2000 digital recordings of trombone mouthpiece and anechoic output signals were made that provide a more accurate measurement of the trombone filter characteristic. Results show that the filter is a high-pass type with a cutoff frequency around 1000 Hz. Whereas the characteristic below cutoff is quite stable, above cutoff it is extremely variable, depending on level. In addition, measurements made using a swept-sine-wave system in 1972 verified the high-pass behavior, but they also showed a series of resonances whose minima correspond to the harmonic frequencies which occur under performance conditions. For frequencies below cutoff the two types of measurements corresponded well, but above cutoff there was a considerable difference. The general effect is that output harmonics above cutoff are greater than would be expected from linear filter theory, and this effect becomes stronger as input pressure increases. In the 1990s and early 2000s this nonlinear effect was verified by theory and measurements which showed that nonlinear propagation takes place in the trombone, causing a wave steepening effect at high amplitudes, thus increasing the relative strengths of the upper harmonics.

Opis:
The economic crisis initiated in 2007, has caused disturbance and a fairly a sharp drop the yachting industry in the country. Many of foreign companies could not bear at all the crisis and were forced to close or were absorbed by other companies in the sector. Since 2010, is observed the at first slow, and currently the dynamic growth of produced boats for various purposes also on the Polish market for Polish customers. The upward trend of the sector will need adequately trained engineers (specialists) - designers, constructors, technologists, etc. Deficiencies literature regarding (approaches) design guidelines on recreational boats, bowed the author to develop one of the methods determine the basic dimensional parameters and design of motor yachts at the initial stage, right away selected the technical assumptions. Based on the gathered database of built yachts developed regression that allow the initial design stage to determine the basic dimensions, namely: LOA, B, H, T and the design parameters, i.e. D, SP, CB yacht. This allows start the next project stage, which is the creation the first concept yacht along with his shape, bodylines and estimate construction costs.
