Opis:
The article presents the main aspects which require attention when optimizing and improving the manufacturing process, i.e.: the human resources aspect, the technical aspect and the organizational aspect. Concepts such as the Total Quality Management, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing claim that work improvement should be a continuous process. The foundation for implementing the improvement of processes, regardless of the concept, are well-organized and orderly workplaces as well as standardization, which can be achieved thanks to the Japanese 5S method.

Opis:
Purpose: Main aims of research is to create and present the concept of using a spreadsheet to create a tool supporting the assessment of significance of causes in accordance with the principles of the Suzuki ABCD method. Design/methodology/approach: The ABCD method itself was discussed first. Based on the literature research, several different variants have been identified. One chosen option has been described in more detail. A support tool has been proposed for this option. Its structure was discussed. The two main elements of the tool are presented in detail, including the workbook, in which the assessment is performed, and the aggregate workbook. Solutions used to support individual significance assessments and solutions for the automatic generation of required summaries were presented and discussed. Findings: The presented solution shows that the spreadsheet can be treated as a sufficient environment to create a tool supporting the Suzuki ABCD analysis. The assumed functionality of the tool can be obtained without the need to register macros or create code in any programming language. Practical implications: The presented solution can be used when applying the Suzuki ABCD method in practice. Originality/value: The described concept is an original solution created by the author.

Opis:
The analysis of the problem of the mechanical damage was made for a company manufacturing furniture and furniture fronts. From January to September the company identified 285 pieces of mechanically damaged products. The management of the company wanted to identify the source of the incompatibility; therefore, it was purposeful to analyse the problem of the mechanical damage using the sequence of the selected instruments of the quality management that enable this. Additionally, until now the company has not used the instruments of the quality managements to analyse the problems involving nonconformity, so it was important to show the company their practical use. The aim was to analyse the problem of the occurrence of the mechanical damage in fronts and furniture and to identify the root cause of the problem. Also to show the effective use of the sequence of the quality management instruments (i.e. 52WH method, Pareto-Lorenz diagram, Ishikawa diagram, 5Why method) to solve the problem of incompatibility. It was concluded that the root cause of the mechanical damage of fronts and furniture was the lack of management knowledge and awareness of the need to implement visualization principles in the company. The analysis and the proposed improvement actions may be practiced in other companies from both the production and service industries.

Opis:
This article presents the issues of quality research and improvement of logistics processes in the area of distribution of one of selected industrial enterprises. The case described concerns the producer of raw chemical materials, who acts as a supplier for industrial customers. The studied company, due to dynamic changes in product demand, very often outsources the distribution of raw materials to external transport companies. This solution results in limited supervision over commissioned processes, which may lead to increased probability of customer dissatisfaction. The article presents the results of the study of the quality of logistic processes implemented or commissioned in the examined enterprise. The assessment was based on the results of the customer satisfaction survey and the results of the analysis of received complaints regarding deliveries. Analysis of the causes of complaints allowed to identify the actions necessary to improve the quality of logistics processes. This article contains, among others, the criteria for the assessment of transport service providers and a set of recommendations to reduce the risks associated with logistics processes of deliveries.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to present a model of material flow organisation in a changing production system operating under small batch production conditions. Material flow is an element of the value stream that transforms production inventory into a finished product, creating value for the purchaser. Material flow management aims to ensure the consistency of supply and reliability of the production processes being carried out. Carrying out simulations for various production scenarios will be the basis for developing an effective method of material flow management in small batch production of cutting tools. Material flow simulation makes it possible to uncover selectively disruptive factors in existing production systems in order to systematically improve systems. Implementing material flow simulation in a timely manner allows the right trajectory to be established before manufacturing reality knowledge is available.

Opis:
The need of being competitive and will to meet clients' needs makes organizations form mining branch improve their actions. There is a wide variety of system-like solutions for such organizations, such as: quality management system, environment management system, and security and safety management system and social responsibility system. The tendency of implementing and connecting some of the above mentioned solutions has resulted in the integrated management systems. An organization which is prepared in such a way often decides for the next step which allows for self-improving even more efficiently, which in turn results in a quicker reaction to clients' needs- the implementation of process-like attitude. The process-like attitude allows to identify weak elements of organization as well as help to improve them and identify those which should be included in an organization.
Potrzeba konkurencyjności i chęć sprostania oczekiwaniom klienta wymusza na organizacjach branży wydobywczej doskonalenie działania. Wsparcie działalności zapewniają różnorakie rozwiązania systemowe w dziedzinie zarządzania: system zarządzania jakością, system zarządzania środowiskiem, system zarządzania bezpieczeństwem i higiena pracy oraz system dotyczący odpowiedzialności społecznej.
