Opis:
In this paper research methods for detection of laminate panels damage were presented. The most common damage is: matrix cracking laminate interlayer damage to joints, connecting cracks, delamination and fiber breakage. The tested laminates will be used as assemblies and sub-assemblies of freight wagon. Other methods of modeling of machines by means of transducers are shown in Płaczek (2012, 2015) and Białas (2010). As part of the project authors were collaborated with specialists from other research centers and scientific research (Bocian and Kulisiewicz, 2013). As a part of future work the places where we will be able to replace the standard materials by parts made of laminate will be shown. Layered composites despite many advantages have also disadvantages. From last mentioned it is a relatively low resistance to transverse impact. When the laminate is used as a decorative element, its small damage is not a problem. The problems start when the composite satisfies more responsible tasks such as: is a part of the technical means for example of a railway wagon. Aspect of continuous monitoring of the technical state of the laminate is very important. Current technology provides numerous opportunities for non-destructive methods of technical inspections. In this paper method for testing of large areas, completely non-contact, based on the methods of thermography, was presented. It consists heating by using the composite tubes and examining it through a thermal imaging camera. Length of heating, and consequently the temperature to which the laminate is heated mostly were chosen experimentally. During the measurements, the camera measures the intensity of radiation, not temperature. Received thermogram is not always a precise representation of the actual temperature, because the camera does not reach only the radiation from tested object, but also reaches the radiation coming from the environment and reflected objects etc. As part of the research authors also we undertook other work related to Mechanical Engineering (Wróbel et al., 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015; Płaczek et al., 2014). Cooperation with other national and European centers has contributed to many publications of authors for example Tuma et al. (2013, 2014) and Jamroziak and Kosobudzki (2014).

Opis:
This paper is devoted to interesting and difficult problems concerned with interdisciplinary biomedical engineering. The main purpose of the paper is to present rules and application of still developing modern methods of medical imaging combining properties of the selected techniques. The examples considered by the authors include combined applications of different methods of imaging such as: X-ray imaging, videoendoscopy, and ultrasonography. Some selected examples of effects obtained during real interventions assisted by combined imaging of operation site are shown in the paper. Examples of imaging the application of stents allowing for the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are also reported. Videoendoscopy imaging and X-ray imaging are two complementary methods applied during the interventions presented in stenting control. On the one hand, these methods facilitate a significant increase in diagnostics and treatment comfort. On the other hand, there is possibility to control stenting efficiency.

Opis:
Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women in Poland and other developed countries. It refers especially to those in peri- and postmenopausal age. Poland is characterized by a dynamic increase in the number of new cases of breast cancer. Namely, in 2010, the number of new diagnosed cases was more than 30% higher than 10 years before. As suggested by epidemiological forecasts for Poland, the trend is expected to be maintained. Surgical treatment is the main prerequisite for a permanent and positive outcome of breast cancer treatment. The percentage of surgeries performed in Poland has increased significantly in recent years from 77% in 2004 to 90% in 2010. The most important prognostic factor affecting longterm treatment outcomes in cancer patients is the clinical grading of the disease. Early detection of breast cancer, preferably at the asymptomatic stage, may significantly determine both the selection of available treatment options and the final treatment outcome. The objective of this study was to discuss current problems related to preoperative diagnostics and surgical treatment of breast cancer patients. Issues concerning mammography screening program were subjected to analysis. The part concerning surgical treatment features new trends regarding procedures of conservative treatment of breast cancer. It is also important to emphasize the necessity of the use of conclusions from the Z0011 trial and personalized oncoplastic surgery techniques in everyday clinical practice.
Rak piersi jest najczęstszym nowotworem złośliwym u kobiet żyjących w Polsce i innych krajach rozwiniętych; dotyczy to zwłaszcza chorych w wieku około- i pomenopauzalnym. W polskiej populacji dynamicznie rośnie liczba nowych przypadków raka piersi: w 2010 roku stwierdzono ponad 30% więcej zachorowań niż 10 lat wcześniej. Według prognoz epidemiologicznych należy spodziewać się utrzymania tej tendencji w naszym kraju. Podstawowy warunek mogący pozwolić na uzyskanie trwałego wyleczenia to zastosowanie leczenia operacyjnego. Odsetek jego wykorzystania w Polsce wyraźnie wzrósł w ostatnich kilkunastu latach – z 77% w roku 2004 do 90% w roku 2010. Najważniejszym czynnikiem mającym wpływ na odległe wyniki leczenia pacjentów z nowotworami złośliwymi jest stopień zaawansowania klinicznego choroby. Wczesne wykrycie raka piersi, optymalnie w stadium bezobjawowym, może w decydujący sposób wpłynąć zarówno na wybór dostępnych metod leczenia, jak i na jego wynik. W pracy omówiono najistotniejsze aktualne problemy diagnostyki przedoperacyjnej i leczenia operacyjnego chorych na raka piersi. Analizie poddano zagadnienia związane z programem wczesnego wykrywania choroby. W części poświęconej leczeniu chirurgicznemu przedstawiono nowe trendy związane z procedurami leczenia oszczędzającego. Podkreślono konieczność wykorzystania w codziennej praktyce klinicznej wniosków z badania Z0011 i technik chirurgii onkoplastycznej.

Opis:
The article presents a method to determine the position of mechanically scanned sonar images by comparing them with the database of simulated synthetic images. The synthetic images are generated from high-density bathymetric data coming from the same fragment of water region, using the ray tracing method. The article discusses the issues related to the choice of the probability function as the method of image comparing which allows to find the correct georeference of the real image. For the correlation method and the logical conjunction method, which are believed to give the best results, detailed studies were performed, including boundary cases. The obtained results of matching are presented in tabular and graphic form.

The purification of microplastic samples is a crucial step in environmental research, aiming to remove contaminants and ensure accurate analysis. This study explores various methods for purifying microplastics, focusing on the removal of organic contaminants, specifically fulvic acids. Comparative analysis using microscopic imaging techniques was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of these methods. The results highlight the complexities involved in microplastic purification and the challenges associated with different approaches. While some methods showed promising outcomes, such as the sonification method, it was also observed that they could potentially alter the microplastic structure. Additionally, the limitations and potential interferences of other purification methods, such as Fenton's solution, were identified. This study underscores the importance of selecting purification methods that minimize negative impacts on microplastics and ensure reliable analysis. Further research is needed to optimize purification techniques and fully understand their effects on microplastic integrity. This research contributes to the broader goal of developing robust methodologies for microplastic analysis in environmental studies.
