Opis:
The paper presents the circular Hough transform in the process of detecting and counting coins. The issues of linear and circular Hough transform are discussed. An algorithm for counting coins in a three-dimensional image using the discrete Hough space is demonstrated. Moreover, the results of the application for detecting and counting coins in a static image and video stream are presented. Observations of histograms for HSV and RGB color palettes, for different camera resolutions and various parameters of image segmentation, edge detection and smoothing filter have been made.

Opis:
This paper describes implementations of the Hough Circle Transform and the Radon Line Transform. The presented transforms were used to build a system for identifying road signs from selected images and recordings. This can be very important and especially useful for monitoring and prevention in driver assistance systems. The design of our system assumed that the objects should be found automatically from images or video sequence. Furthermore, the detection was based on the shapes of common traffic signs which correspond to used transforms. Additionally, the Huffman method was applied to encode the data before being compared. Consequently, the traffic signs were matched directly with the Euclidean distance.

Opis:
A modification of the descriptor in a human detector using Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) is presented. The proposed modification requires inserting the values of average cell brightness resulting in the increase of the descriptor length from 3780 to 3908 values, but it is easy to compute and instantly gives ≈ 25% improvement of the miss rate at 10‒4 False Positives Per Window (FPPW). The modification has been tested on two versions of HOG-based descriptors: the classic Dalal-Triggs and the modified one, where, instead of spatial Gaussian masks for blocks, an additional central cell has been used. The proposed modification is suitable for hardware implementations of HOG-based detectors, enabling an increase of the detection accuracy or resignation from the use of some hardware-unfriendly operations, such as a spatial Gaussian mask. The results of testing its influence on the brightness changes of test images are also presented. The descriptor may be used in sensor networks equipped with hardware acceleration of image processing to detect humans in the images.

The paper presents two methods of prior JPEG-compression detection. In the first method the histogram of chrominance is analysed. In JPEG-compressed images the histogram contains significantly more local maxima than in uncompressed files. The second method is based on neighbouring pixel Ø value difference. In JPEG-compressed image the distribution of these values is different than the distribution counted on the edges of compression 8x8 blocks. These differences are summed up to create a classifier that allows to assess if the image was compressed.

This work presents the method of leaks detection in recorded sequence of infrared images. Infrared field measurements were taken on small experimental embankment during flood process simulation. The leak processes took place thru initially dry facility. Getting wet areas were visible in infrared images as lower temperatures part of embankment on its air side. Image processing methods allowed to localize the leak in thermal images, despite the impact of external factors on the measurement and differences in objects emissivity in the observed scene.

Opis:
Neutrosophic set (NS) is a powerful tool to deal with indeterminacy. In this paper, the neutrosophic set is applied to the image domain and a novel edge detection technique is proposed. Noise reduction of images is a challenging task in image processing. Salt and pepper noise is one kind of noise that affects a grayscale image significantly. Generally, the median filter is used to reduce salt and pepper noise; it gives optimum results while compared to other image filters. Median filter works only up to a certain level of noise intensity. Here we proposed a neighborhood-based image filter called nbd-filter, it works perfectly for gray image regardless of noise intensity. It reduces salt and pepper noise significantly at any noise level and produces a noise-free image. Further, we proposed an edge detection algorithm based on the neutrosophic set, it detects edges efficiently for images corrupted by noise and noise-free images. Since most of the real-life images consists of indeterminate regions, neutrosophy is a perfect tool for edge detection. The main advantage of the proposed edge detector is, it is a simple and efficient technique and detect edges more efficient than conventional edge detectors.

Face detection which is a challenging problem in computer vision, can be used as a major step in face recognition. The challenges of face detection in color images include illumination differences, various cameras characteristics, different ethnicities, and other distinctions. In order to detect faces in color images, skin detection can be applied to the image. Numerous methods have been utilized for human skin color detection, including Gaussian model, rule-based methods, and artificial neural networks. In this paper, we present a novel neural network-based technique for skin detection, introducing a skin segmentation process for finding the faces in color images.

Opis:
For 3D object localization and tracking with multiple cameras the camera poses have to be known within a high precision. The paper evaluates camera pose estimation via a fundamental matrix and via the known object in environment of multiple static cameras. A special feature point extraction technique based on LED (Light Emitting Diodes) point detection and matching has been developed for this purpose. LED point detection has been solved searching local maximums in images and LED point matching has been solved involving patterned time functions for each light source. Emitting LEDs have been used as sources of known reference points instead of typically used feature point extractors like ORB, SIFT, SURF etc. In such a way the robustness of pose estimation has been obtained. Camera pose estimation is significant for object localization using the networks with multiple cameras which are going to an play increasingly important role in modern Smart Cities environments.

The biggest advantage of this method is that it doesn't have to be manually set like other image processing methods used in chatter detection.

Content-based image retrieval methods develop rapidly with a growing scale of image repositories. They are usually based on comparing and indexing some image features. We use such a description to retrieve similar images fast. We performed extensive experiments on three established image datasets proving the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Opis:
This paper presents a method of vehicle detection using the conversion of images from a source image sequence into binary target images. This conversion is performed on the basis of small image gradients. The location of binary values after conversion is in accordance with the edges of the converted image. For all processed images, a detection field is defined, which is composed of two segments. In the area of each segment, the sum of the edge values is calculated. On the basis of the calculated sums within the segments, an adjusted sum of the edge values is established, which allows for the determination of the state of the detection field. Vehicle detection is carried out by recognition of distinctive changes in the state of the detection field caused by the passing vehicle. Experimental results are provided.

We compare different methods using a database which consists of radar images from two different manufactures. The data covers a timespan of roughly 4 hours with a one second time resolution. The performance of 3 template matching and 5 feature detector algorithms is tested and the most suitable algorithm is chosen for further optimizations. These optimizations are based on the properties of the radar images and the properties of the radar target.
