Opis:
Field and as mineralogical and petrographical examinations of sedimentary rocks present in the area surrounding the Pieniny Klippen Belt were performed. The aim of these investigations was to identify the symptoms of hydrothermal processes within the studied rocks. Moreover, the areas prospective for the occur- rences of geothermal waters, alternative source of thermal energy instead of traditional power production using fossil fuels, were indicated. Analytical investigations were focused mainly on mineralogical composition of rocks as well as on the frequency of occurrences of various veins (mainly built of carbonate minerals) intersecting the rocks from the neighbourhood of Neogene andesitic rocks from the Pieniny Klippen Belt. The highest quantity and thickness of the veins was observed in the rocks from the area of Piekiełko stream near Krościenko. The clastic rocks (sandstones) from this area contain many fractures which are crucial for potential geothermal water circulation.

Opis:
Perovskites are inorganic compounds that exhibit dielectric properties. These minerals belong to the crystal ceramics family. These compounds are described by the formula: ABX3 where, A and B are 2, 3 or 4 valuable metal ions, and X is an ion of oxygen or fluorine. An example of perovskite is the compound KTaO3. There are many methods for producing KTaO3, but the hydrothermal method is most commonly used. Perovskites can be characterized by magnetic, photocatalytic and electrical properties. For this reason, the most effective methods for obtaining perovskite structures are sought, and research methods for their characterization are developed. In this thesis, KTa0.8A0.2O3 (A = Co, Fe, Ni) was obtained by hydrothermal method. The influence of dopants on the photocatalytic was verified. As a result of experiments, it was found that two samples had a single phase the pyrochlore structure (KTaO3 and KTa0.8Fe0.2O3). The Ni-doping increased photocatalytic activity, while Fe-doping reduced photocatalytic activity.

Opis:
Chitosan/CuO nanocomposites (Chi/CuO) were prepared by facile and eco-friendly technique. The 2%w/v chitosan solution was mixed with 0.5 %w/w sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP), resulting in the formation of ionically crosslinked chitosan. The crosslinked chitosan was soaked in an aqueous solution containing 0.001, 0.01 or 0.1 mol/L CuSO4·5H2O for 24 hrs, in which the Cu2+ ions were absorbed into the chitosan network, forming as the chitosan/Cu2+ precursors. The chitosan/Cu2+ precursors were hydrothermally reacted in two different basic media, i.e. NaOH and NH4OH, at 100°C for 24 hrs, resulting in the nano-sized CuO crystals hydrothermally grew and embedded in the crosslinked chitosan matrix. The CuO grown in the NaOH possessed larger crystallite size and higher crystallinity than that in the NH4OH. In addition, the CuO crystallite size in the nanocomposites increased with the increase of initial concentration of Cu2+ starting agent due to the increase of Cu2+ quantity in the chitosan/Cu2+ precursors. The chitosan/CuO nanocomposites prepared by using 0.01 and 0.1 mol/L Cu2+ could exhibit the antibacterial activities after intimate contact with Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli under JIS L 1902:1998 (Qualitative) test method, indicating their potential use as biocontrol agents.
