Opis:
The main aim of this paper is to demonstrate the Hip-hop based Education (HHBE) and Hip-hop Pedagogy (HHPED) as two accommodating strategies that may be utilized fourishingly to differentiate a teaching-learning process further to integrate learners in any education-like environment, as the example the IB World School No. 006654 International School of Bydgoszcz (ISOB) has been chosen. This is the first study presenting international community in a truly homogeneous society (ca. 98% of Polish inhabitants in their country). The author enlists affirmative methodologies beginning with a hypothesis that the Hip-hop cultureis gaining popularity among adolescents in greater numbers. As a result of observations, interviews and survey he is acquainted with students’ wants and needs. There is a necessity to put them in a bigger picture by analyzing the phenomenon from a historical, sociological, political, economical and intercultural viewpoint on a local (Bydgoszcz’s) and global scale. And finally, the author is describing a use of the aforesaid strategies through transfer skills that are taught in the IB History and Social Studies classes.

Opis:
As a subculture created by black and Latino men and women in the late 1970s in the United States, hip-hop from the very beginning was closely related to urban environment. Undoubtedly, space has various functions in hip-hop music, among which its potential to express the group identity seems to be of the utmost importance. The goal of this paper is to examine selected rap lyrics which are rooted in the urban landscape: “N.Y. State of Mind” by Nas, “H.O.O.D” by Masta Ace, and “Street Struck,” in order to elaborate on the significance of space in hip-hop music. Interestingly, spaces such as the city as a whole, a neighborhood, and a particular street or even block which are referred to in the rap lyrics mentioned above express one and the same broader category of urban environment, thus, words connected to urban spaces are often employed interchangeably.

Opis:
As far as hip-hop is concerned, it is a truism that Didier Awadi counts as one of its influential leading figures. The famous musician from Senegal takes advantage of hip-hop as a medium and participates in disseminating its values across the world. Awadi’s creativity aims at conscientising Black people whose misery, according to him, is due to an internalised negativity about themselves. The artist pursues this objective in “Dans mon rêve” by staging MLK as a historic benchmark and source of inspiration to Africans. My paper attempts to highlight why the use of hip-hop as a medium of pop culture does not effectively serve that creditable objective. I also review the provocative trope of African pop-artist as a modern griot, raised a decade ago by the United States-based scholars. Theoretically, Stuart Hall’s conception of culture and Guy Debord’s theoretical complexity in his attempt to dismantle the monopoly of the spectacle inform the study.
Koncepcja kultury Stuarta Halla i teoria Guya Deborda stanowią podstawę niniejszych badań.

Viruses and viroids cause losses in hop production and are very difficult to eliminate, they spread easily and infected plants become a source of infection for other plants in the hop garden. Hop infected with viruses or viroids usually do not show any symptoms of disease, which makes it difficult to identify in-fected plants and prevents their elimination from the plantation. Monitoring is of utmost importance to detect and eradicate at an early stage first sources of infection with pathogens that have po-tentially catastrophic impacts on hop production. The aim of the study was determine the incidence of Hop latent virus (HpLV), Arabis mosaic virus (ArMV), Hop stunt viroid (HSVd), Apple fruit crinkle viroid (AFCVd) and Citrus bark cracking viroid(CBCVd) in Polish hop gardens. Hop leaves from commercial hop gardens and a propagation facility were tested by RT-PCR. On the basis of the obtained results, HpLV was found to occur in a few hop gardens in all regions of hop cultivation in Poland. HSVd was found in one hop garden and ArMV, AFCVd and CBCVd were not found in any of the tested samples. The results provided knowledge about these pathogens and will be useful in effective management of the risk of these dangerous diseases.

Opis:
Drones are considered to be an important part of future 6G telecommunication systems. Thanks to their quick deployment potential, they provide additional connectivity options in the form of a flying hotspot. However, in such use cases, they typically require a wireless backhaul link to facilitate their proper operation, which might be a challenging task in dense urban environments. One of the potential methods that may be relied upon to connect such nodes is the integrated access and backhaul (IAB) approach, where part of the spectrum allocated to users accessing the base station is used for wireless backhauling. Thus, in this work, we consider the problem of establishing a multi-hop wireless backhaul link following the IAB concept, with the aid of drone relay stations (DRSs) and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). We formulate the problem of coverage improvement with a fixed number of relays, assuming certain throughput requirements for the backhaul link. The simulations show that the use of RISs offers a coverage improvement in such a scenario or a reduction in the number of nodes involved in ensuring the required backhaul performance.

The simple method of nucleic acids extraction, based on guanidine thiocyanate extraction buffer, was sufficient for obtaining a good templates for RT-PCR. The RT-PCR reactions were performer from the start to the end (both the reverse transcription and the HLVd-cDNA amplification) in the same reaction mixture and in the very small volume of reaction (10 μI). Both pairs of primers designed by authors were good for reverse transcription and later for amplification of the HLVd-cDNA. The presence of gelatin as a stabilizer of DNA polymerase was indispensable for successful performance of RT-PCR.
Wiroida wykrywano w ekstraktach kwasów nukleinowych z blaszek liściowych i z ogonków liściowych chmielu. Ponadto w zastosowanej metodzie opracowano warunki do przeprowadzenia zarówno odwrotnej transkrypcji i następnie amplifikacji powstałego cDNA wiroida w jednej probówce, w tej samej mieszaninie reakcyjnej .

The aim of the study presented in this article was to verify the presence of the assumptions of anti-discrimination education in the lyrics of songs featured on the album “Hip-Hop racism stop! #1”, a project launched as part of a Polish campaign called “Music Against Racism”. The study involved using the content analysis method in an interpretative paradigm according to the contextual theory of meaning. The main conclusion is that the use of songs as a form of educational support can be a valuable element in the anti-discrimination education, but it is crucial to call for “negotiating with young people the content of existing culture”, which may provoke discussion with students about the ways in which words are used to form a specific image of the world. Another important conclusion is the “paradox of violence” referring to a tendency to appeal for the rejection of violence, while at the same time using violence-provoking words.

Isoxanthohumol (2) and its 4'-O-monoacylated (3) and 7,4'-O-diacetylated (4) derivatives were synthesized and evaluated in vitro for their cytotoxic activity against several cancer cell lines of various origins: MCF-7 (breast), A549 (lung), MESSA (uterine sarcoma), LoVo (colon), drug-resistant human cancer cells (MESSA/DX and LoVo/DX), glioblastoma (U-118 MG), and also towards the non-cancerous cell line MCF-10A (normal breast cells). An antiproliferative assay indicates that 7,4'-di-O-acylisoxanthohumol (4) has similar cytotoxicity to its precursor, isoxanthohumol (2), against selected cell lines (A549, MES-SA, MES-SA/5DX, and U-118 MG). Compound 4 was only slightly more cytotoxic to lung, colon, breast (cancerous and normal) and uterine sarcoma (drug sensitive and drug resistant) cell lines compared to its monoacylated derivative (3). Both acylated isoxanthohumols showed preferential activity against tumor cells (MCF-7) and low cytotoxicity to normal cells (MCF-10A), which suggests selectivity of the acylated isoxanthohumols towards cancer cells. Additionally, the activity of the acylated isoxanthohumols was higher than for 2. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report on bioactivity of monoacylated isoxanthohumol (3) and its ester derivatives as antiproliferative compounds in drug resistant cell cultures. Acylation of 2 decreased the antioxidant activity determined by the DPPH method in the order isoxanthohumol (2) >4'-O-acetylisoxanthohumol (3) >7,4'-di-O-acetylisoxanthohumol (4).

In order to link a source-destination node pair in inter-working multi-hop wireless networks, links or routes must first be available. It is only after establishing the availability of links and routes between nodes that factors which affect connectivity e.g. interference can be considered. Connectivity in multi-hop wireless networks has been studied. However, the studies focused on network connectivity in ad-hoc networks. Since the next generation of wireless networks will be inter-working, an understanding of connectivity as it applies to such networks is needed. Specifically, this paper emphasizes that an analysis of route connectivity rather than network connectivity is needed for inter-working multi-hop wireless networks. With a focus on route connectivity, a route availability model for inter-working multi-hop wireless networks is presented.

Single hop delay of SIP message going through SIP proxy server operating in carriers backbone network is being analyzed. Results indicate that message sojourn times inside SIP server in most cases do not exceed order of tens of milliseconds (99% of all SIP-I messages experience less than 21 ms of sojourn delay) but there were observed very large delays which can hardly be attributed to message specic processing procedures. It is observed that delays are very variable. Delay components distribution that is to identied are not exponentially distributed or nearly constant even per message type or size. The authors show that measured waiting time and minimum transit time through SIP server can be approximated by acyclic phase-type distributions but accuracy of approximation at very high values of quantiles depends on the number outliers in the data. This nding suggests that modeling of SIP server with queueing system of GjPHjc type may server as an adequate solution.

The aim of the study was to assess the dynamicsof changes in the content of hop bitter acids during long-termstorage of cones that vary in maturity degree under differenttemperature conditions. The impact of the degree of maturityof hop cones on the stability of bitter acids during storage islittle known so far, and it is important, because due to the systematicincrease of the hop growing area on individual farms, thecone harvesting period is extended beyond the optimal phase oftechnological maturity. Hop cultivars belonging to two groupswere included in the study: bitter (Magnat, Magnum) and aroma(Puławski, Sybilla). Cones were collected on a few dates duringvegetation season, starting from the phase in which they reachedmaximum size until the beginning of physiological maturity. The dried cones were stored at +5 °C and +20 °C for 12 monthsand tested every three months for alpha and beta acid contentusing HPLC. Studies have shown that too early a hop harvestadversely affected bitter acid content. Storage temperature hadsignificant impact on the degradation of alpha and beta acids. Ata higher temperature the decrease in the content of these compoundswas greater. The tested hop cultivars were characterized bydifferent stability of bitter acids. The highest stability of alphaacids was observed for Sybilla, while the lowest for Magnat. The stability of alpha and beta acids during long-term storageof the raw material, especially at + 20oC, depended on the degreeof cones maturity. The aging rate of hop cones was not thesame throughout the storage period. For the first 3–6 months ata temperature of +5oC, the bitter acid content remained at a levelsimilar to the initial one, later a relatively rapid decrease in thecontent of these metabolites occurred. At higher temperatures, the bitter acid stabilization period was shorter.

The hop-constrained minimum spanning tree problem is the problem of determining a rooted spanning tree of minimum cost in which each path from the root node to any other node contains at most H hops or edges. This problem relates to the design of centralized tree networks with quality of service requirements (in telecommunications) and has a close relation with other tree problems. In this paper we investigate the adaptation of some well-known "repetitive" heuristics used for the capacitated minimum spanning tree problem to the hop-constrained minimum spanning tree problem and investigate some simple look ahead mechanisms for enhancing the quality of a savings heuristic. Computational results for a set of benchmark tests with up to 80 nodes are presented.

The main operating technology of these networks is the acoustic communication. The communication among the sensors and finally to the surface station requires a routing protocol. The sensors being battery limited and unfeasible to be replaced under the water requires an energy efficient routing protocol. Clustering imparted in routing is an energy saving technique in sensor networks. The routing may involve single or multi hop communication in the sensor networks. The paper gives a comparative study of the benchmark protocol multi-hop LEACH with the proposed Sensor Hop-based Energy Efficient Networking Approach (SHEENA) for the shallow as well as deep water in three dimensional Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks. The network energy model for the Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks is based among the different acoustic channel characteristics. The proposed approach is found to give better response.
