Opis:
There are two major theories about the origin of human syntax: evolutionary and catastrophic, the latter appears more probable on theoretical and empirical grounds, the most serious reason being the problem with imagining the intermediate stages between protosyntax and full-blown syntax (Bickerton 1998). The “missing link” is recently often associated with recursion, a sole element of human syntax considered specifically human and specifically linguistic. Some accounts associate this trigger with a subpart of recursion, either operation Merge or a subpart of Merge, operation Label (Hornstein 2009) which by breaking the initial symmetry provides a sine qua non condition for asymmetric syntax in terms of endocentricity, phrase structure and, consequently, recursive embedding. My hypothesis is that assuming the catastrophic scenario, more than one catastrophic event must have happened in a very short time. Given that human vocal tract and human phonetics and phonology have several unique features compared with Great Apes (hierarchical but non-recursive structure, speech imitation skills, abundant use of formants, lack of laryngeal air sacks in the vocal tract) and given that the phonological form constitutes the interface of the human syntax, the mere addition of Label to the already existing operations of the protolanguage is insufficient, since (1) it does not account for the emergence of the phonologically interfaced syntax, (2) it fails to explain the indisociability of non-syntactic elements of language in terms of phonology, semantics and syntax as evidenced in Jackendoff (2011). Consequently, I assume that human language emerged as a result of at least two catastrophic processes: catastrophic emergence of phonetics and catastrophic emergence of syntax accompanied by the rapid expansion of the lexicon, the latter possibly as a result of a quantitative rather than qualitative development. The emergence of human phonology might have occurred gradually, but as a result of the catastrophic emergence of phonetics.

Opis:
New protoceratopsid (Dinosauria: Ceratopsia) specimens from two Late Cretaceous Mongolian localities with problematic stratigraphy are described. A specimen of Protoceratops andrewsi from the Zamyn Khond locality enables its correlation with other sites of the Djadokhta Formation. P. andrewsi is also abundant in the Üüden Sair locality, variously assigned to the Djadokhta or Baruungoyot formations. However, one new specimen from that site exhibits a fused nasal horn and a sharp buccal crest of the dentary. With these apomorphic features, it resembles Bagaceratops rozhdestvenskyi, known from the Baruungoyot and Bayan Mandahu formations. It may be an evidence for: sympatric evolution of B. roz hdestvenskyi and P. andrewsi; a dispersal of Bagaceratops to Üüden Sair; hybridization between the two parapatric taxa; or the anagenetic evolutionary transition from P. andrewsi to Bagaceratops. The anagenetic explanation appears to be most strongly supported by given data. This new record advocates for the age of the sediments from the Üüden Sair locality being intermediate between the Djadokhta and Baruungoyot formations. The observed changes in the frequency of the apomorphic features within protoceratopsid samples from various Late Cretaceous sites of the Gobi Desert potentially enable their correlations and chronological ordering.

Opis:
This case study describes a manufacturing process of composite chassis also known as monocoque. The structure is made using carbon fibre reinforced polymers (CFRP) which are manufactured in out-of-autoclave (OOA) process from pre-impregnated carbon fabrics and aluminium alloy honeycomb core. Since the material cost is high the aim of the project was to reduce the cost of manufacturing process i.e. cost of models and moulds. Therefore, instead of high-temp models and moulds a cheaper alternative was used. It consisted of Styrofoam models made using polyurethane (PU) paste and moulds made from CFRP using wet layup process which were cured at room temperature. Such moulds had to be adapted to withstand high temperatures during pre-preg cure. This was done with gradual heat annealing process which increased the maximum service temperature from 45C to 90C. This was enough for the low-temp cure of pre-preg material, but it might be possible to increase the temperature even further. As a result, the cost of manufacturing process had been reduced by 50%.

W prezentowanym artykule przedstawiliśmy ewolucję dwóch notacji francuskich: północnofrancuskiej i akwitańskiej. Na podstawie wybranych źródeł, w porządku chronologicznym zbadaliśmy wybrane elementy neumatyczne tych notacji i w końcowym etapie zaprezentowaliśmy wnioski, w jakim kierunku ewoluowały poszczególne neumy.
In this article the evolution of two French notations is presented: North-French and Aquitaine notations. On the basis of selected sources in a chronological order investigation of selected neumatic elements of these notations was conducted and at the final stage conclusions how evolved of the particular neumes was drawn. The evolutionary process of the musical scripture proved to be more distinct in the northern French notation. Step after step, the formation of the classic shapes of the square notation, can be observed with the characteristic junctures of elements (ligature). In the case of Aquitaine notation, one can speak only in a very limited manner of the graphical form evolution, because the important elements of this notation were modified only slightly in the course of tree hundred years. Thereby it is proven that the contemporary choral notation stems from the northern French form.

Opis:
Research background: Studying the dynamic characteristics of unemployment rate is crucial for both economic theory and macroeconomic policies. Despite numerous research, the empirical evidence about stochastic behaviour of the unemployment rate remains disputable. It has been widely agreed that most economic variables, including unemployment rates, are characterized by both structural breaks and nonlinearities. However, a little work is done to examine both features simultaneously. Purpose of the article: In this paper, we analyse the stationarity properties of unemployment rates of Euro area member countries. Also, we aim to test stochastic convergence of unemployment rates among member countries. Our empirical procedures explicitly allow for simultaneous gradual breaks and nonlinearities in the series. Methods: This paper develops a new unit root test procedure for panel data, allowing for both gradual structural breaks and asymmetric adjustment towards equilibrium. We carry out Monte Carlo simulations to examine small sample performance of the proposed test procedure and compare it to the existing test procedures. We apply the newly proposed test to examine the stochastic properties of the unemployment rates of Euro-member countries as well as relative unemployment rates vis-à-vis the Eurozone unemployment rate. Findings & value added: We find that the newly developed test procedure outperforms existing tests in highly nonlinear settings. Also, these tests reject the null hypothesis of unit root in more cases when compared to the existing tests. We find stationarity in the series only after allowing for structural breaks in the data generating process. Allowing for nonlinear and asymmetric adjustment in addition to gradual breaks provides evidence of stationarity in more cases. Furthermore, our results suggest that relative unemployment rate series are stationary, providing evidence in favour of stochastic convergence in unemployment rates. Overall, our results imply a limited room for coordinated economic policy to fight unemployment in the Eurozone.

The Centre of the Sun is very important to be study because this layer is where the nuclear reaction will be occurred. During large event pre-flare usually continues a few minutes and followed by impulsive phase about 3 to 10 minutes. Solar storms such as solar flare and Coronal Mass Ejections are frequently occurred on the area of the Sun that have strong magnetic field or known as active region The release of the stored free magnetic energy that probably drives a CME can take many forms including (predominantly) mechanical in the form of an expanding CME and erupting filament, electromagnetic emission in the form of a flare, and also in the acceleration of energetic particles, magnetic field reconfiguration and bulk plasma motion. In this study, the data of active region of the Sun was taken from official website of the Langkawi National Observatory. The image of the active region was observed by using 11-inch Celestron telescope with solar filter. This data confirms that there was a strong M class of solar flare during the day due to eruption of AR 2529 was occurred on 18th of April. From the x-ray flux data also, it can be observed that few days before M6.7 class solar flare occurred, there were several C classes of flare. The evolution of small AR 2529 to a big heart-shape forms an eruption that producing strong M6.7 class of flare and three gradual CMEs. This strong flare caused significant impact around the high technologies of Pacific Ocean by fading the signal at frequencies below 15 MHz.

An attempt of direct solidification (DS) of Cu-17 at. %Al eutectic alloy is presented in the paper. The chosen alloy belongs to the copper-rich eutectic region in the Cu–Al phase diagram. The alloy was remelted and solidified in a vertical furnace of Bridgman type with a moving crystallization zone. Thus, the expected structure will result in an arranged distribution of two phases in the bulk of the material. However, due to cooling the mentioned alloy down to room temperature, the phase transformations occur according to the respective phase diagram, including β phase decomposition through eutectoid and peritectoid reactions. The crystallized material consisted of the following phases α solution and γ1 (Cu9Al4) phase. Structure observations, determination of the formed phases and texture analysis of the obtained material are described. Mechanical properties received from a tensile test are also included.

The evolutionary changes of the Early Cretaceous (Valanginian) marine gastropod Rissoina (Buvignieria) sp. from Wąwał (central Poland) show a pattern typical of the Ancient Lake Concept. Its morphology is stable during period of unstable conditions and starts to change gradually when the environment becomes stable. The linear character of the evolutionary changes of Rissoina sp. and lack of evolution among co−occuring gastropods suggests that the rate of evolution was controlled by intrinsic factors, not the environment.

Opis:
The Graduale Cassoviense  is a late medieval musical-liturgical manuscript. Apart from the standard Gregorian repertoire, it also contains original local chants. Moreover, it also includes several alleluia chants that—so far—have not been found in any other sources or reported in the existing databases. A mutual comparison of these chants (as well as their comparison with other repertoires) provides a chance to show their genetic connections and conditionality. The repertoire shows a late medieval explosion of local musical and poetic production in the territory of Central and Eastern Europe. Nevertheless, this production shows different aesthetical bases and rules than the typical Gregorian ones. For such reasons, we can define it as a post-Gregorian work.
