Opis:
This article presents a model enabling more efficient air traffic management achieved by better data use . Appropriate resource allocation is possible if it is based on a high quality air traffic volume forecast. The proposed approach is inspired by procedures used in flow management in air traffic control. Staff planning in controlled airspace is easier because almost all operations are communicated in the submitted flight plan. Short-term prediction of the number of operations in uncontrolled airspace is a much more challenging task. It is correlated with weather parameters and moreover, it naturally fluctuates throughout the day and the season. The relationship between General Aviation (GA) traffic volume and meteorological conditions were modeled using neural network. The obtained results confirm that it is possible to use the decision support system to plan the number of operational sectors. The described results open a scientific discussion about designing tools predicting air traffic volume in uncontrolled air space. The accuracy of the model can be improved by processing data from additional sources, but it is associated with a significant increase in the complexity of the solution.

Opis:
A distress event i.e. loss of engine power, structural damage etc., creates a major emergency situation in General Aviation (GA) aircraft. It requires location of a safe-to-land runway within reach, and immediately planning and executing an effective flight path towards it. Currently, technological development in avionics allows creating a flight deck decision support tool for trajectory planning of GA aircraft in emergency situation. Principal part of the system constitutes flight path optimization module. The automated path-planning algorithm generates within seconds an optimized trajectory to be followed by the pilot to safe landing. The trajectory planning is formulated as an optimal control problem, with the aircraft kinematics and dynamics expressed by the state equations, and objective functional that may capture the time, length, energy loss, etc. Obstacles and restricted or prohibited zones are represented as constraints on the positional state variables. The purpose of the paper is to present the method of flight path optimization of an aircraft in emergency, after a distress event, which makes impossible continuation of the original flight. The methods allow determining optimal escape flight path from special protection areas (e.g. cities etc.) or danger zones, as well. The simplified realization of the Ritz-Galerkin method was used in this work, which uses an approximate solution to boundary value problems for determining the optimal flight trajectory. The method allows determining the optimal trajectory of the flight satisfying the initial/final conditions and control functions and path constrains for an aircraft.

Opis:
The article presents a concept of an automatic directional control system for a General Aviation class aircraft during the taxiing phase. In particular, it shows the concept of the system and the control laws synthesis – mathematical model and simulation of taxiing aircraft. Several reasons have emerged in recent years that make the automation of taxiing an important design challenge including decreased safety, performance and pilot workload. The adapted methodology follows the model based design approach in which the control system and the aircraft are mathematically modelled to allow control laws synthesis using the Adaptive Disturbance Rejection Control method. The computer simulations are carried out to analyze the control system behavior. Chosen methodology and modelling technique, especially tire-ground contact model, resulted in a taxing aircraft model that can be used for directional control law synthesis. Aerodynamic forces and moments were identified in the wind tunnel tests for the full range of the slip angle. The results can be used for the preliminary performance assessment of the ADRC method applied in the taxi directional control system. Such system has not been introduced to General Aviation yet. Therefore, the model of taxiing aircraft including aerodynamic characteristics for the full range of the slip angle and a directional control system have a big value in the process of design and implementation of the future automatic taxi systems.

Opis:
The intensive growth in the popularity of recreational aviation as a means of spending free time can cause an increase in the number of unwanted events in general aviation (GA). Thus, it is advisable to examine the safety of aerodromes and their nearest surroundings. The article deals with a risk analysis for a sightseeing flight, starting with and ending at a model aerodrome. A comprehensive analysis showed 67 hazard sources in the analysis area, of which 16 hazards were defined. Three out of sixteen hazards were assigned to the unacceptable category (according to the Risk Score Method). It was a mid-air collision, detachment of the aircraft’s elements in the air and a ground collision. For every hazard other than those acceptable, actions aimed at risk reduction were recommended. Moreover, the risk should be monitored at every stage of the operation.
Kompleksowa analiza wykazała 67 źródeł zagrożeń w obszarze analiz, a z nich zdefiniowano aż szesnaście zagrożeń. Trzy z szesnastu zagrożeń przypisano do kategorii nieakceptowanej (według metody Risk Score).

Opis:
The article discusses the automatic control system of the Diamond DA42 aircraft anti-icing system. In the analysis of the issue of icing, four parameters were taken into account: air temperature, cloud humidity, temperature of the aircraft and precipitation. On the basis of the initial parameters, the authors determined the icing intensity, which is likely to occur on the aircraft skin. By automating the activities related to the activation of the de-icing system, it is possible to significantly relieve the pilot and increase the safety of air operations, particularly in conditions, which are conducive to the formation of icing. The authors performed a thirty-minute electronic simulation of the flight in real atmospheric conditions. The article discusses the obtained results of the simulation. Designed system uses fuzzy logic. The system inputs and output were determined and fuzzy expert inference system was developed in MATLAB software and Fuzzy Logic Toolbox. The proper system work was verified with use of MATLAB/Simulink software. Use of that kind of systems can significantly relieve the pilot and increase the safety of air operations, particularly in conditions, which are conducive to the formation of icing.

Opis:
Civil air traffic in Poland is organized in accordance with international regulations provided by International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Flight operations are performed in controlled airspace (CAS) or uncontrolled airspace. The division contains different approach to flight planning (FP) and group specific types of airspace users (AUs) and aircrafts types. Typically, General Aviation (GA) operations are placed in uncontrolled airspace while airline operations in CAS. This practice results from air operations types and aircrafts flight performance. GA includes sport, school, private transport or business flights and therefore the uncontrolled airspace with its vertical border form the ground to FL 95 contains most of the GA operations. However, there is a part of GA operations performed in CAS according to Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). The aim of the work is to describe the structure of domestic GA operations in IFR flights in CAS of Poland. Using the archival air traffic data from previous five years (2012-2016) the defined subject was analysed. In the first part, the aircraft fleet is presented. It contains the description of aircrafts types with relation to route distances, number of flights, propulsion type and wake turbulence category (WTC). In the second part, the network of defined air traffic was shown. It contains data about departure and destinations airports, the airports loading, month statistic of flights and trend in traffic changes. The traffic data are obtained from Eurocontrol database Demand Data Repository (DDR2) and using the NEST Eurocontrol software. The article arose during author’s traineeship in Eurocontrol within a framework of SESAR 2020 project, PJ.06-02 solution. Presented analyses are useful from the FP point of view since the PJ.06-02 solution refers to “Management of Performance Based Free Routing in lower Airspace” and need to consider the features of every airspace users.

Opis:
The paper contains a review of methods and technologies developed during a research project entitled “Methods of testing and evaluation of grassy airfields”, conducted at the Lublin University of Technology between 2011 and 2014. Based on the terramechanical studies of wheel-soil interactions, the authors have developed a method for the determination of wheel-grass friction and rolling resistance coefficients, which are of critical importance for the ground performance of an airplane. Moreover, a mobile application has been created for use by pilots, controllers or airfield administration crew. The application connects online with a weather service to gather atmospheric data as inputs for a mathematical model that produces a real-time cone index (CI) value for a given airfield. The paper also discusses the applicability of the method within the air transportation system, as well as possible effects of the described technology upon the safety of flight operations on grassy airfields.

Opis:
The system o of air education and trainings functioning currently inn countries organized in ICAO association was presented in this work Authors payed attention to the fact, that specialistic air -trainings are entered into existing national educational systems. The security of passengers and crews of aerodynes is a most important matter in the air transport. Not only practical trainings, but also theoretical trainings and the b background knowledge of the candidate on the flying staffer there have the essential influence on the security level. This fact was illustrated in the article with several examples, which illustrate typical, though often underestimated, aspects of the organization of educational systems and trainings, especially theoretical trainings. In spite of intensive searching authors of the article did not manage to reach a case study from the range of the methodology of air-trainings , understood as a multistage process, which lasts practically through the entire life of the airman. Mabe this results from the fact that an aviation is created by technicians, and the theory of the education is a domain of humanists who do not understand the world of the technique. Presented work can be therefore treated as the invitation to the assumption of common interdisciplinary research.
Stworzono wiele systemów dedykowanych do każdego obszaru działania.
