Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to present the analyses of the discursive strategies of constructing gender difference in the articles published in the Science in Poland bulletin. This bulletin is an important platform for the popularization of Polish and world science. It is funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in Poland. In the article, I assume that gender is a socially constructed structure (including discursive) level, about the difference between men and women, especially anatomically. Starting from the assumptions of the theory of discourse, which is understood as the process of producing and reproducing social meaning, the analysis includes articles published on the website between 2005 and 2010. In the first part of the paper, I introduce the definition of gender and gender beliefs, which are an important context for the analysis. Then, the content and the method of research (the analysis of discourse) are characterized. In the last part of the paper, the results of research characterizing the main discursive strategies reproducing gender in polarized, homogeneous, and universal categories are presented.

Opis:
The present research intends to investigate the relationship of psychological hardiness with irrational beliefs, emotional intelligence and work holism among high school teachers. The sample includes 100 male and female high school teachers working in schools in Ghorveh city (In IRAN) in the academic year 2012-2013. To collect data, Kobassa Psychological Hardiness Questionnaire, Jones Irrational Belief Questionnaire which includes 100 questions, Bar-on questionnaire contains 90 questions about emotional intelligence and Aghabeigi Workaholics Questionnaire was used. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (t-test and regression analysis) were used. The findings indicated that there is a negative and significant relationship between psychological hardiness with irrational beliefs and work holism. There is also a positive relationship between the psychological hardiness and emotional intelligence. Furthermore, there is a significant negative relationship between emotional intelligence with irrational beliefs and work holism. Finally, the results suggest that there is significant difference between the psychological hardiness, irrational beliefs and work holism of the male and female; and no significant difference between the emotional intelligence of the men and women sampled.

Opis:
This study employed an explanatory sequential mixed-methods research design to examine the beliefs of Vietnamese EFL students concerning oral corrective feedback (CF) and the role of some individual differences in these beliefs. The data consisted of questionnaires completed by 250 Vietnamese high school students and follow-up interviews with 15 of them. Exploratory factor analysis revealed six latent factors underlying students’ beliefs about CF, namely, (1) output-prompting CF and eliciting recasts, (2) desire for CF, (3) non-verbal cues, (4) important errors, (5) input-providing CF, and (6) less important errors. Descriptive statistics and thematic analysis of the interviews showed that students were positive about CF. They liked both input-providing CF and output-prompting CF for all error types. Metalinguistic feedback was the most strongly preferred, while clarification request was the least preferred. Further statistical analyses revealed some interesting relationships between students’ beliefs about CF and their gender, English learning motivation, and self-rated introversion/extraversion. Females were more positive about CF than males, and extraverted females were more positive about input-providing CF than introverted females. Also, students learning English for exams were more positive about CF than those learning English for communication. Pedagogical implications for effective feedback provision in EFL contexts are discussed.
