Opis:
Sociology students in Portugal have usually been taught methodology and epistemology in a classical, scholastic way. If students are provided with practical contact early on, this can help them to better understand and apply theoretical concepts conveyed through lectures. During their last graduate year, Sociology students of the University of Minho are expected to design a full research project and to conduct exploratory research, completed by the last semester, and this includes either a residence period or a research seminar. To ensure this works well, methodology units are organised on a weekly basis, according to two types of classes: 1) theoretical and 2) theoretical-practical, with the purpose of gradually enabling students to develop the competencies they will need to graduate. Focusing on the teaching experience of qualitative methodologies, and using as an example the teaching of observation techniques, the purpose of this article is to illustrate the advantages of offering the students early contact with the “field”, and prepare them for future full-scale research. These advantages are acknowledged by students, as evidenced in their written evaluations of their field experiences. However, it is important to note that this type of learning is most fruitful when students have been previously trained in the use of the written language – namely aiming to develop their ability to describe – and social theories.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to test the effectiveness of the fertiliser available on the market - Bio-Forge® on the growth and yielding of Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L. var. chinensis (L.) Hanelt). In the experiment, not only the Bio-Forge fertiliser was used, but its action in combination with other fertilisers was tested. T1 - was control group consisted of plots fed with distilled water and precipitation. Group of T2 was consisted of recommended rate (RR) of inorganic NPK fertiliser according to soil analysis used in the experiment. The test of T3 was available on the fertiliser market - Bio-Forge fertiliser. The T4 group consisted of T2 + S (simulate as a yield enhancer which contained a combination of 3 different phytohormones including cytokinin (0.009% / 1L), gibberellic acid (0.005% / 1L), and indole-3-butyric acid (0.005% / 1L). Treatment of T5 was consisted of T2 + Bio-Forge. The treatment 6 - T6 was S + Bio-Forge and T7 = T2 + T6. Based on the observations, it was found that the Bio-Forge fertiliser alone had a positive effect on the growth and yielding of pechay, but to a lesser extent than in combination with other growth stimulants and mineral fertilisers. Compound fertilisers significantly stimulated plant growth, increased fresh weight and contributed to better yielding.

Opis:
The level of preparation of teachers before they enter the profession is an important factor affecting the level of culture of future generations and, consequently, the society as a whole. This preparation requires not only the proper implementation of the curriculum, but also the acquisition of self-efficacy skills. So far, the self-efficacy of pre-service teachers has been studied with respect to different variables. However, there is a lack of satisfactory comparative research among students from Poland and Slovakia, the countries of slightly different approach to preparation of pre-service teachers. To fill this gap, a comparative study of 355 Polish and 198 Slovakian university students was conducted using Tschannen-Moran and Woolfolk Hoy Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale. The purpose of the research was to determine which variables, including the country (Poland, Slovakia), course, form, year of study and participation in the field experience correlate significantly with the sense of efficacy of pre-service teachers. The obtained results indicate a satisfactory consistency between the Polish and the Slovakian version of the Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale. The research revealed a significantly higher self-evaluation among Polish university students and students of early childhood education. Part-time students with field experience evaluated themselves higher than full time students. The results emphasize that it is important to place high demands on future teachers and create appropriate conditions to improve their teaching and self-evaluative abilities.
