Opis:
The article is based on Robert Kugelmann’s work, Psychology and Catholicism: Contested Boundaries. It examines the development of Catholic psychology as a history of defining boundaries within scientific empirical psychology from 1829 to the present. The author divides the historical period into three periods: One: Neoscholastic Rational Psychology (1829–1965); Two: After Vatican II Psychology (1965 to present); and Three: An Emerging Thomistic Rational Teleological Behavioral Psychology. The essay examines the development of Neoscholastic rational psychology as a response to modernist experimental psychology. The neoscholastic movement approached the new discipline of empirical, as opposed to rational, psychology with the firm conviction in the formulation of a meta-psychology, based on a Thomistic metaphysics that would allow for an eventual synthesis of rational and empirical psychology. However, a synthesis with empirical psychology never came to realization, mainly over the issue of the faculties of the soul as foundational for a science of human behavior. The author argues that, even to the present day, the best approach to entering into a trading zone (transitional genus) with the principles and methods of scientific psychology is by avoiding all expressions of past, present, and future introspective psychology and brain mentalism, and turning to a synthesis with teleological behavioral principles and Aristotelian-Thomistic faculties of the soul psychology.

Opis:
Economics needs psychology. It is impossible to explain social and economic phenomena on the basis of typical economic models. Economics has opened to social sciences and thus modified its own test methods and language, and extended the research area. As a result of the cooperation between economics and psychology, numerous scientific subdisciplines were formed, and economic models and theories developed new meanings and applications. Yet, not every interdisciplinary research is cognitively fertile for economics. What economics risks is losing its own scientific identity and sight of its subject of research. The purpose of the paper is to analyse the opportunities and threats that appear in the scope of research done and actions taken in economics and psychology.
Ekonomia potrzebuje psychologii. W wyniku kooperacji ekonomii i psychologii powstały liczne dyscypliny naukowe „z pogranicza” (subdyscypliny), a modele i teorie ekonomiczne zyskały nowe znaczenie i zastosowanie.

Opis:
Aim of the research: interdisciplinary description of functioning of lexical connections in a patient with spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA-type1). There is little research on lexical networks in patients with neurodegenerative diseases. Procedure: the subject was asked to give associations to 63 stimuli-lexemes. Tools used in the study: the Experimental lexical network of the Polish language, a digital recorder, an Olympus 650 DM. The Experimental lexical network was developed by Izabela Gatkowska (2017). It was created as a result of the study concerning the associations of 900 healthy Polish-speaking adults. Utterances of the subject were recorded, transcribed and compared with standard data. Results: the reactions of the subject were different from the associations presented in the Experimental lexical network. The most common verbal reactions were: creating definitions of stimuli-word meanings or making comment on them. Associations created by the subject were based on paradigmatic or syntagmatic relations. The authors explain how the specific verbal behaviour of the subject is related to the cognitive and language dysfunctions caused by the cerebellar damages. The results showed that language processing should not be regarded as separate from other cognitive functions. Verbal reactions of the subject are slightly similar to aphasic symptoms, but mostly they are related to cerebellar damage and executive disorders. The results obtained proved the validity of the connection between linguistic and psychological methods and tools in studies which concern the language behaviour of patients with neurodegenerative diseases.
