The study was triggered as a result of declining performance of learners in Botswana and it was aimed at finding solutions that would enhance sound academic performance in junior secondary schools. A phenomenological design was selected for the study while a qualitative approach was adopted using focus group interviews as the source of data collection from participants. The findings of this study revealed that the inability of the government of Botswana to implement job satisfaction measures in educators inhibited adequate transfer of knowledge to learners, which resulted in a decline in performance. Learners’ gross misconduct and their parents’ inability to counsel them contributed to their decline in performance. Also, learners and educators admitted that the current system of education should be replaced with another productive system. Another finding of this study confirmed that learners are tired of corporal punishment and they want it to be replaced with detention. The study recommendation is that the Ministry of Education of Botswana should apply motivational and job satisfaction factors to encourage educators to adequately transfer knowledge to learners.

The development of moral competence is affected by both internal and external factors and has been researched by many scientists. The present study investigated a) whether the five factors of personality, gender and geographical area would affect ones’ moral competence, b) whether the personality factors Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness and Agreeableness would be correlated positively with moral competence in everyday life, whereas Extraversion and Neuroticism would be correlated negatively with morality, c) if there will be differences in students’ moral competence exhibited in everyday life and that expressed in PE/sports framework and d) whether type of school, factors of personality, as well as moral competence exhibited in sports-framework would all be significant factors for the interpretation of a student’s moral competence. The sample consisted of 331 junior high students (7th and 8th graders) (Mage = 12.47, SD = 0.740), who were given the Moral Competence Test Greek Version (Mouratidou et al. 2003), the Moral Judgment Test in Physical Education(Mouratidou et al. 2008), and the Inventory of Child Individual Differences (Besevegkis & Pavlopoulos 1998). The results indicated that of the five-factor personality model only Conscientiousness can affect moral reasoning ability in everyday life and that the type of school can account for less than 5% of variance when predicting moral competence in high school students.

Economic growth is a function of numerous factors that, in their totality, determine its dynamics and stability. This article views only those factors that, to the greatest extent, present the capacity of Bulgaria's economy - labor resources, capital, and knowledge (education, innovations, information and communication technology). Their dynamics for the last five-year period outlines primarily unfavorable changes, which have had a limiting impact on economic growth. This also determines the challenges which Bulgaria has faced in recent years, as it has to direct its efforts towards increasing the effectiveness in the use of available resources.

The topicality and the context of this research are related to the phenomenon of wellbeing and factors influencing it, regarding early childhood and primary school. The aim is to study, analyse, and identify the key factors of promoting the wellbeing and healthy lifestyle of a child. Children’s wellbeing, therefore, and health and safety are more than just physical wellbeing; it should be seen holistically, as a whole welfare, and it depends not only on the environment where the child is raised, but also involves emotional support from all the people who are connected with this little human being. Thus, the first years for children at school and also for teachers (especially young teachers who have just begun their career) are a special time in their life because during this period the experience of what the child and the teacher is, and how strong and essential their connection will be, is formed. It is very important already at the early stage to understand that each child is different; they have different physical and emotional development, individual characteristics, as well as a different approach to understanding and learning things. Therefore, in the primary school it is important for the teachers to create a positive, highly social, interactive and creative environment so that the children can develop and learn more successfully. Wellbeing has a great importance in the school environment in order to create teachers’ and children’s satisfaction with life, positive relationships with others, as well as a positive and successful learning environment. The family, as well as the teachers who are involved in the development of the children’s lives, especially in the first grades at school, are one of the most essential factors that define the personal growth of the young children.

The article presents a part of diagnostic and correlative research of quantitative and qualitative character, locating pupils’ information skills in the use of ICT in the context of new technology trends and the accompanying civilizational changes. The considered issues seek answers to the question on the sources of knowledge and skills acquired by pupils in the field of using new technologies. A diagnostic survey (questionnaire and interview) and statistical methods were used. 2,510 pupils were examined and it was established that: 1) numerous pupils’ indications, obtained through an open question, allowed for distinguishing as many as 14 categories of sources of information; 2) The pupils mainly locate the sources of ICT knowledge and skills in informal education (61.9%), by the same token diminishing the weight of organised, formal education and the influence of didactic institutions (38.1%); 3) the calculation of differentiating factors revealed statistically significant differences between the sources of ICT knowledge and skills in relation to gender, stage of learning, and place of learning.

An analysis of literature shows that higher education institutions can actively influence the development of students' cultural intelligence (CQ) and thus express their social responsibility. The article's main aim is to diagnose the level of cultural intelligence among students of public economics universities in Poland and to determine the relationship between CQ and factors such as field of study, degree, and gender. This article was developed using research methods such as literature analysis, organizational documentation analysis, participant observation, and a Computer-Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) survey. The respondents were second-year full-time students, both bachelor and master’s degree, of two majors: Management and International Economic Relations (in Polish Międzynarodowe Stosunki Gospodarcze – MSG for short). The study shows that the cultural intelligence of students of public economics universities in Poland is relatively high. No influence of gender on CQ was determined. Contrary to assumptions, it was not observed that MSG studies influence students' CQ development. The correlation between the degree of reflection and the level of cultural intelligence differs depending on the field of study. At each of the three universities studied, no significant differences were found in the overall level of cultural intelligence between students of the two studied majors.

The aim of the study is to provide an overview of higher education students’ volunteering and voluntary group membership based on a database (N=2,199), in which full-time students from five Central-Eastern European countries (Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, and Ukraine) were questioned. We analyzed as well, which variables influence civic engagement. Based on the results we suggest that universities in Central-Eastern European regions should make more use of students’ potential in the field of volunteering and organizational membership, and should do so in an organized way, with special attention to the groups, which display low civic participation according to our research findings.

SAFEMODE is an EU-funded project under the Horizon 2020 programme. The project brings together experience from the whole safety value chain including manufacturers, service providers, regulators, academia, and small-medium enterprises. This paper focuses on two core aspects the project is addressing: 1) the systematic collection, analysis, and categorization of Human Factors (HF) data from maritime and aviation safety events, and 2) the development of a Just Culture framework for maritime to encourage reporting of safety events and learning from them, and at which respondents feel they are treated in a fair and just manner when reporting. Learning from safety events is only possible if root causes of accidents and incidents are properly and systematically identified, analysed, and categorized, and reporters know that reporting is a “safe” and beneficial practice. The implementation of these two outcomes as part of the institutionalization strategy of the project includes recommendations to industry guidance and practice and proposals to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The article is devoted to the problem of increase of the pedagogical universities undergraduates’ motivation to develop their foreign language competency. The main reasons necessitating continuous increase of the foreign language competence level have been determined. Utilizing such research methods as the focus group survey, theoretical generalization, comparison and pedagogical experiment, it has been proved that the maximum inclusion of students in foreign language activities with professional scientific information is an effective factor in increasing the professional orientation of the foreign languages learning by the future teachers. This type of work in the process of studying various academic disciplines provides a positive dynamics of the motivation components and readiness of the future teachers to work with scientific foreign-language information. It has been shown that netnographic analysis of the foreign-language scientific publications is also an effective factor in personal and professional development, socio-cultural communication, and the students’ mobility in professional and academic environment.

The essential assump-tion of the article is the attempt to receive the most possible comprehensive picture of the former students’ career perspectives and the reality they encounter on the basis of their relation, not only the statistics available. The article will also cover the analysis of the quali-fi cations gained during the studies but also all other factors that turned out to be helpful to fi nd an employment consistent with their expectations.

The article sets out the main provisions on internal and external factors of influence on the development of architecture of non-formal education institutions. External factors are represented by a group of socio-economic factors, a technical (technological) factor, a number of political factors and an environmental factor. Internal factors that influence the development of the architecture of educational institutions include urban planning, architectural-planning, natural-climatic, and aesthetic. The article also presents the brief analysis of architectural projects done abroad and at the Theory of Architecture Department of Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture to illustrate the impact of factors and to show main trends of architectural development of modern educational buildings.
W artykule określono główne elementy dotyczące wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych czynników wpływających na rozwój architektury pozaformalnych instytucji edukacyjnych. Czynniki zewnętrzne reprezentowane są przez grupę czynników społeczno-ekonomicznych, czynnik techniczny (technologiczny), szereg czynników politycznych i czynnik środowiskowy. Czynniki wewnętrzne, które wpływają na rozwój architektury instytucji edukacyjnych, obejmują planowanie urbanistyczne, architektoniczne, przyrodniczo-klimatyczne i estetyczne. W artykule przedstawiono również krótką analizę projektów architektonicznych wykonanych za granicą oraz w Katedrze Teorii Architektury Kijowskiego Narodowego Uniwersytetu Budownictwa i Architektury w celu zilustrowania wpływu czynników i ukazania głównych trendów rozwoju architektonicznego nowoczesnych budynków edukacyjnych.

The considerations addressed in the present paper are aimed to demonstrate the relationship between culture and creativity as a constitutive relation of fundamental importance and, at the same time, as a fundamental principle of education studies and contemporary culture studies in particular. especially nowadays, the educational perspective in artistic culture considerations seems to gain relevance as it incorporates key assumptions, value system issues, ethical choices, motivations in life in the world ruled by material possessions. The artistic culture is defined as the totality of cultural values created, strengthened or disseminated by the man by means of the arts understood as a field of the culture, symbolic activity, form of expression, human communication, science registration, a kind of cognition and a tool of education. The creativity, on the other hand, is characterized as the spirit of the culture, its foundations and horizon, its construction material, its content and idea, in other words, the original culture and its social function beyond creativity does not exist, but at the same time, the creativity itself is enriched owing to the enhancement of its cultural development. The interaction of the culture and creativity constitutes an important aspect of the contemporary cultural life and an educational challenge to enhance the culture through development of creativity and most importantly to boost creativity through cultural development is considered as an enrichment activity. although the universal values documenting the creative achievements of the man throughout its time demonstrate the extent of the challenge, it needs to be emphasised that the greatest challenge lies in dealing with the clear signs of a crisis and ilemmas of the contemporary artistic culture.
Rozważania podjęte w ramach sformułowanego tematu koncentrują się, najogólniej biorąc, na ukazaniu relacji między kulturą i kreatywnością jako więzi konstytutywnej o znaczeniu fundamentalnym, a zarazem jako ważnego postulatu pedagogiki, zwłaszcza współczesnej pedagogiki kultury. Przyjęcie pedagogicznej perspektywy rozpatrywania kultury artystycznej wydaje się zwłaszcza dzisiaj sprawą niezwykłej wagi, bowiem skupiają się w niej zagadnienia najbardziej istotne, problemy systemu wartości, wyborów etycznych, motywacji ludzkich, w świecie materialistycznego myślenia i stylu życia. kultura artystyczna zdefiniowana została jako całokształt wartości kultury tworzonych, umacnianych bądź rozprzestrzenianych przez człowieka za pomocą szeroko rozumianej sztuki jako dziedziny kultury,  działalności symbolicznej, formy ekspresji, komunikacji międzyludzkiej, rejestracji naukowej, rodzaju poznania i narzędzia wychowania. z kolei kreatywność rozumiana jest tu jako duch kultury, jej podstawa i horyzont, tworzywo i fundament oraz treść i sens; innymi słowy nie istnieje oryginalna kultura i jej funkcja społeczna poza obszarem kreatywności, ale także sama kreatywność ulega wzbogaceniu dzięki wzmocnieniu jej kulturowego wymiaru rozwoju. Interakcja kultury i kreatywności jest ważnym problemem współczesnego życia kulturalnego, a jednocześnie konkretnym wyzwaniem pedagogicznym do podniesienia poziomu kultury przez rozwój kreatywności, a przede wszystkim do rozwoju kreatywności przez podniesienie kultury jako aktywności wzbogacającej. Wprawdzie uniwersalne wartości humanistyczne dokumentujące kreatywne dokonania człowieka w ciągu jego dziejów wyrażają najpełniej wyzwanie, by je sobie przyswoić i twórczo pomnożyć, ale prawdziwie palące jest wyzwanie związane z wyraźnymi znamionami kryzysu i dylematami współczesnej kultury artystycznej.
