    One of the significant problems related to business entities is the implementation of a number of different types of activity by individual companies. This issue, despite being relatively well researched among individual or groups of businesses has yet to be studied comprehensively. This is due to the fact that the vast majority of studies focus only on the predominant type of activity declared at the time of company registration. The objective of this research was to identify regularities in the number and structure of activity types within individual business entities in Dolnośląskie Voivodeship. The survey covered all entities actively operating in the region - almost 176 000 in total. The study examined all types of activity carried out (according to PKD 2007 including the subclass level) as well as their location (by gmina). The research was based on data from the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity. The study showed that the population is dominated by those conducting many different activities - about 8.2 per company on average. The inclusion of all (and not just dominant) activities affects the observed economic structures, including the spatial dimension.

    Social capital is one of the factors which influence economic activities. According to Bourdieu (1986) social capital is the aggregate of the actual or potential resources which are linked to the possession of a durable network of more or less institutionalized relationships of mutual acquaintance and recognition – or in other words, to membership of a group – which provides each of its members with the support of the collectively owned capital, a ‘credential’ which entitles them to credit, in the various senses of the word. This influences the ability among the market entities to cooperate with each other and to create their competitiveness on this market. In the present global crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), social capital is gaining new meaning. Bottom-up initiatives of local communities that support especially small entrepreneurs and provide temporary continuity of management processes are becoming the basis for cooperation. The emerging social capital can become a remedy combating the social fears of a lack of rational operations in management processes in times of uncertainty at individual and community level. On the basis of the above premise, the main purpose of this paper is to identify the general role of social capital in the management of entities in the period of uncertainty caused by the pandemic based on the example of Poland. The paper consists of theoretical background and empirical part using the methods of critical analysis of the literature and desk research.
    Kapitał społeczny jest czynnikiem wpływającym na działania gospodarcze. Według Bourdieu (1990) jest zbiorem zasobów wiążących się z posiadaniem trwałej sieci mniej lub bardziej zinstytucjonalizowanych związków, które dostarczają jednostkom wsparcia w postaci kapitału posiadanego przez kolektyw. W dobie globalnego kryzysu wywołanego pandemią koronawirusa (COVID19) kapitał społeczny nabiera nowego znaczenia. Oddolne inicjatywy lokalnych społeczności, które pomagają, szczególnie małym przedsiębiorcom, i zapewniają doraźną ciągłość procesów gospodarowania, stają się podstawą do współpracy. Powstający kapitał społeczny może się stać antidotum na lęki społeczne związane z niedostatkiem racjonalnego działania w procesach gospodarowania w czasach niepewności. Celem artykułu jest określenie głównej roli kapitału społecznego w gospodarowaniu podmiotów w czasach niepewności wywołanej pandemią na przykładzie Polski. W opracowaniu wykorzystano metody krytycznej analizy literaturowej i desk research.

    The aim of the paper is to discuss the concept of the efficiency of quality activities, its measurement conditionings and to verify the selected solutions in the context of a production company’s business practice. The research presented in the paper required a review of the subject literature, and the proposed solutions are identified on the basis of empirical data from the analyzed enterprise. The obtained results prove that it is possible to use both the indicator analysis and the assumptions of the model of Activity Based Costing (ABC) for evaluation of the economic efficiency of quality activities. The solutions presented in the paper may be used in practice by production companies which attach relatively high importance to the quality of the goods they manufacture.

    The management of complicated systems, including socio-economic systems (SES), is aimed at achieving their sustainable development. This process can be controlled only if the state of such systems can be quantitatively evaluated. Prof. R. Ginevičius was the first in Lithuania to undertake the research into the problems associated with quantitative evaluation of various types of SES, based on the long-term experience of comprehensive quantitative evaluation of various engineering systems. He investigated and quantitatively evaluated socio-economic development of various states and their regions, the effectiveness of the performance of higher and professional training schools, and determined the strategic potential of enterprises and other institutions.
    Zarządzanie złożonymi systemami, w tym systemami społeczno-ekonomicznymi (SES) ma na celu osiągnięcie zrównoważonego rozwoju. Proces ten może być osiągnięty, gdy stany systemów mogą być określone ilościowo. Prof R. Ginevicius był pierwszym na Litwie, który podjął się badań nad problemami ilościowej oceny różnych typów SES. Ocenę przeprowadzano w ujęciu kompleksowym. Prowadził badania i dokonywał oceny jakościowej rozwoju społecznogospodarczego poszczególnych państw i ich regionów. Badał skuteczność organizacji szkół wyższych oraz określał strategie adaptacji przedsiębiorstw budowlanych i innych instytucji w gospodarce rynkowej. Wykorzystał między innymi metody wielokryterialnego wspomagania decyzji. W referacie przedstawiono główne założenia i osiągnięcia szkoły naukowej z zakresu systemów SES.

    The article deals with the formation of programs for cultural development, as well as the ways to attract investment in the implementation of these programs, depending on the characteristics of the historical and cultural development of the territory. It is proved that along with economic and political concepts the idea of development and preservation of culture should be appear. Using the example of Odessa and the Odessa region, the extent to which historical and cultural characteristics can become an element of attracting investment through the development of tourism business is explored, and the presence of an independent program could become a means for determining priorities, coordinating and prioritizing the necessary changes in the cultural sphere regional levels. The article also analyzes the world experience in financing, supporting and developing the cultural sphere, and identifies three main types of cultural economics, depending on the mechanism of its investment, namely: “Romance” type, “German” type and “Anglo-American” type, is carried out. Тhe possibility of transforming foreign experience in financing cultural programs in terms of the ratio of budgetary and non-budgetary funds is being considered. Based on the results of this study, conclusions were drawn on the need to identify real sources of funding for cultural programs at the regional and municipal levels, calculate the necessary balance between budget and non-budgetary funding for cultural activities, prioritize budget funding and accumulate funds for these purposes from possible sources, which is especially important for regions that have a tourist specialization.

    The study on Panemunė Castle examined this heritage object in an entirety of its values and their impact on the environment, with a possibility of their synergism for the benefit of the place. It found the contemporary national heritage protection framework failing to grant equal attention to elements constituting the multifaceted worth of the castle as a property, inclusive of the social, cultural, artistic values, the engagement of local communities, the important role of cultural tourism and the image of the place, and economic efficiency. The analysis of the different facets one by one and collectively has brought to the conclusion that the social, cultural, artistic and economic values of Panemunė Castle as a heritage property influence their environment, but are not experienced as a powerful driving force of the contemporary heritage protection. The process remains fragmented, sporadic and underdeveloped, with its elements failing to achieve synergism for the place.
