Opis:
Porous materials are used in many vibro-acoustic applications. Different models describe their performance according to material’s intrinsic characteristics. In this paper, an evaluation of the effect of the porous and geometrical parameters of a liner on the acoustic power attenuation of an axisymmetric lined duct was performed using multimodal scattering matrix. The studied liner is composed by a porous material covered by a perforated plate. Empirical and phenomenal models are used to calculate the acoustic impedance of the studied liner. The later is used as an input to evaluate the duct attenuation. By varying the values of each parameter, its influence is observed, discussed and deduced.

Opis:
The overall efficiency of battery energy storage systems (BESSs) strongly depends on the temperature uniformity of the batteries, usually disregarded in studies of the integrated performance of BESSs. This paper presents a new battery thermal management system (BTMS) using a personalized air supply instead of a central air supply. Thermal models are established to predict the thermal behavior of BESSs with 400 battery packs. Moreover, several optimizations comprising the effect of the position and number of air inlets, the number, and angle of the baffles on the air distribution in the ducts are proposed. The results show that the distributed air supply from the main air inlet makes the air velocity in the main air ducts more uniform. It is demonstrated that air deflection is the main source of airflow inhomogeneity at the air outlets. The airflow uniformity is better when the baffles are added at the entrance and the bottom of each riser duct than at other locations. The improved air supply scheme makes the nonuniformity coefficient of air velocity reduced from 1.358 to 0.257. The findings can guide the selection of a cooling form to enhance the safety of BESSs.

Opis:
In this paper, the design of a tracked in-pipe inspection mobile robot with a flexible drive positioning system is presented. The robot would be able to operate in circular and rectangular pipes and ducts, oriented horizontally and vertically with cross section greater than 200 mm. The paper presents a complete design process of a virtual prototype, with usage of CAD/CAE software. Mathematical descriptions of the robot kinematics and dynamics that aim on development of a control system are presented. Laboratory tests of the utilized tracks are included. Performed tests proved conformity of the design with stated requirements, therefore a prototype will be manufactured basing on the project.
W artykule opisano projekt gąsienicowego robota inspekcyjnego do rurociągów z elastycznym systemem pozycjonowania gąsienic. Opisany robot przeznaczony jest do pracy w rurociągach o przekroju prostokątnym i kołowym i średnicy ponad 200 mm. W artykule przedstawiono kompletny proces projektowy, mający na celu utworzenie modelu trójwymiarowego w środowisku CAD/CAE. Opisane zostały również modele matematyczne robota w zakresie kinematyki i dynamiki ruchu, niezbędne do utworzenia algorytmów sterowania. Dołączono również opis badań laboratoryjnych gąsienic. Przeprowadzone testy potwierdzają poprawność projektu, który będzie służył do stworzenia prototypu robota.

Opis:
This paper concerns to the numerical analysis of transmission loss of selected acoustical helicoidal resonator placed in cylindrical duct close to the elbow. The change of acoustic attenuation performance of helicoidal resonator is observed with the change of the degree of rotation of cylindrical duct elbow. The finite element method was used to calculate the acoustical system in the COMSOL Multiphysics computational environment. The results show that the change of rotation of elbow or rotation of helicoidal profile can change the resonance frequency, and thus the tuning options are extended when applying helicoidal resonators in ducted systems.

Opis:
Provision of well-being in rooms is associated with their good ventilation. Good ventilation is influenced by cleanliness of ventilation ducts. The article presents a drive-by-wire version of a mobile inspection robot for ventilation ducts. A handler, which is movable in three axes and ended with a grab, a supporting vertical wheel (to reduce wheel skid) as well as a colour camera, a distance sensor and two light sources (LED and halogen lamp) on a rotary platform have been placed on a circular chassis. Apart from performing the inspection function, the operator of the "Inspector 1" robot may remove bigger pieces of dirt and garbage from a ventilation shaft using the handler and the grab. The device is powered from a 12 V / 5 Ah battery. A robot controlled using a control panel allows accurate illumination of the internal walls of the duct and wireless transmission of a colour image to the operator's monitor. The rotary platform on which the camera with lighting is placed is also capable of tilting up and down. The robot's drive has been resolved in a way that makes it as manoeuvrable as possible. Two front drive wheels operate independently and two rear wheels are easy-running. The robot will also allow recording the following environmental parameters in the ventilation shaft: humidity, temperature, draught force and direction and the presence of gases. The entire robot's electronic system is based on battery-powered supply (12V/5Ah) which is sufficient for approx. two hours of continuous operation. The voltage of the battery is constantly monitored and should it drop.
