The paper focuses on the numerical analysis of Levy cable dome under two various initial conditions. Experimental device of cable dome is equipped with 7×7 wire ropes with diameter ɸ 6 mm. Nevertheless, it is completely changed for 1×19 wire ropes single strand with diameter ɸ 4 mm. The interchange could lead to creation of more adaptive structure for further static and dynamic analyses. Furthermore, it is essential to stress out that force gauges will improve accordingly.

The Andahua Group is a distinct cluster of typically monogenetic volcanoes located in the northernmost part of the Central Volcanic Zone in the Andes, characterized by small-volume lava domes and scoria cones. Seven volcanic clusters have been distinguished. Using satellite imagery, geological mapping, and fieldwork, we found a total of 103 lava domes, 43 scoria cones, and 3 small composite volcanoes. Most of the lava domes are monogenetic but 9 were formed by multiple eruptions. Petrogenetic models have been developed for the magma evolution of the Andahua Group. They show local crustal influence on the magmas generated, and possible controls on the magma pathway to the surface, and potential segregation. Local compositional variation of the crustal rocks is inferred to have a strong influence on the magma that ascends through the thick continental crust. Assimilation and contamination by deeply seated granitoids of the Arequipa and Paracas massifs are also inferred to play a role in the final magmatic products. Future activity with gas emissions from the Andahua Group volcanoes may cause hazardous conditions for tourists.

This article is focused on design of traditional historical domes. Outstanding works of architecture such as: the dome of Hagia Sophia, dome of the dome of the rock mosque, the dome of Florence Cathedral, the dome of Basil's Cathedral in Moscow, as well as less famous – Greek-Catholic Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Krowica Sama have been analyzed. According to the criterion of geometrical complexity we created the table in which the individual structures were systematized. The table also includes information on historical period, building materials, technology and dimensions for all examples. The paper aims to summarize the changes that took place in terms of how to construct and demonstrate the appropriateness of use of this type of solution, which led to the conclusion that each of new solutions is based on already existing one.

The stable isotope compositions of oxygen and sulfur from gypsum samples derived from borehole cores of the Wapno Salt Domecap-rock have been determined. The d18O values were measured (for both the SO4 and the H2O) in bulk samples of gypsum(CaSO4 2H2O) and in its dehydrated equivalents (CaSO4). The SO4 is enriched in the heavy oxygen isotope, which unequivocally indicates the Zechstein sea as the place of origin of the sulfate. The variable δ18O values of the H2O (water of crystallization) indicate different conditions (and stages) of diagenetic processes of these samples, primarily recrystallization (hydration) episodes. Two groups ofgypsum were distinguished: (1) a group in which the δ18O values of H2O range between -9.0 and -10.2‰ (interpreted as gypsum in equilibrium with recent or subrecent meteoric water), (2) a group in which the d18O values of the H2O were less than -10.2‰ (this gypsum hasrecrystallized in the presence of water enriched in the light isotopes of oxygen). In addition, in one single analysis the δ18O value of the H>sub>2O amounts to -5.6‰ (gypsum with mixed isotopic composition).

Rogóźno salt dome is one of the most recognizable diapirs in the Polish Lowland. Despite its shallow occurrence depth, increased salinity has not been detected in surface water. The presented hydrogeochemical research aimed at determining if there is the presence of increased geogenical salinity in the groundwater and shallow water. Increased geogenical salinity has not been detected in the Moszczenica River and the Czerniawka River, but were displayed in the Moszczenica River valley in the specific electrical conductivity (SEC) spatial distribution. Hydrogeochemical research indicated the presence of a higher mineralized water ascent in the north-eastern part of the dome. The presence of mixing of saline waters around the dome with fresh waters was determined. Ionic composition and hydrochemical indexes of waters sampled from different levels indicate that the saline structure is not completely isolated from surrounding waters. The dome structure is in contact with water from Upper Jurassic formation which influences the final water composition. Active anthropogenic processes partly mask the influences of geogenic salinity in the study area.

The Quaternary Andahua volcanic group in southern Peru has been studied by present author since 2003. The Andahua Group stretches out at intervals within an area, which is 110 km long and 110 km wide. Seven regions bearing centres of volcanic eruptions have been distinguished: the Valley of the Volcanoes, Antapuna, Rio Molloco, Laguna Parihuana, Rio Colca Valley, Jaran, and Huambo. The Valley of the Volcanoes, where the Andahua Group was identified for the first time, contains the biggest variety of volcanic landforms. The valley is covered by a nearly 60 km long, continuous cover of lava flows. 165 individual eruption centres of the Andahua Group were distinguished including apparent pyroclastic cones, 50–300 m high, and usually smaller lava domes and fissure vents. Domes, eruptive vents and lava craters greatly outnumber pyroclastic cones. Most commonly, lava flows start from lava domes or craters. Small domes are often aligned along their feeding fissures. Lava domes and pyroclastic cones of the Andahua Group are aligned mainly along N–S and WNW–ESE trending fault systems. Projection points of the analysed Andahua lavas on the TAS diagram concentrate in the lower part of the trachyandesite field, entering also the basaltic trachyandesite or trachyte/trachydacite fields.

The results of geodetic measurements conducted in the Inowrocław salt dome area are presented in this paper. The main aim of these studies was to determine changes in the rock mass exerted by geological processes. These processes have led to the changes in the salt dome geometry and physical properties of surrounding rocks. Degradation of the salt-gypsum cap of the dome strongly depends on the hydrogeological conditions and, particularly, on tectonic structure which has had a bearing on the uplift of the ground surface. The principal goal of the paper is to present the results of geodetic levelling surveys in the Inowrocław area wherein the mining activity was terminated in 1991. These results point to a progressive salt uplift in some areas, showing a constant rate throughout the study period.

The diapiric structures of the Polish Lowlands are tectonically deeply seated down to the autochthonous Zechstein strata at a depth of ca. 6 km. In the process of deep burial and halokinetic diapirism, the salt rocks were subjected to diagenetic and metamorphic transformations, with the temperature being an essential factor. Considering the thermal gradient, a temperature of up to ca. 200°C can be achieved in the salt dome within a depth range from several hundred metres to 6 km, which may lead to transformations of the majority of salt minerals. Phase transitions of two borate minerals – boracite and congolite from the Kłodawa salt dome – provide evidence for higher temperatures in the salt dome rocks. The authigenic euhedral crystals of those borate minerals display their external habitus in ambient temperature in the form of regular symmetry (F43c – pseudo-regular polyhedrons), whereas their internal structure is lower: orthorhombic (Pca21) for boracite and rhombohedral (R3C) for congolite. The heating and cooling of boracite and congolite crystals show reversible phase transition. At a temperature of ca. 270°C, boracite crystals change their symmetry: orthorhombic ↔ cubic. In the case of congolite three reversible phase transitions within a temperature range of 50–339°C can be observed: rhombohedral ↔ monoclinic ↔ orthorhombic ↔ cubic symmetry. Those phase transitions, confirmed experimentally in our study, clearly document at least local occurrences of temperatures exceeding 339°C in the Kłodawa salt dome.

The paper presents the concept of a protective structure in the form of a prefabricated reinforced concrete protective dome intended for protection of a single critical infrastructure facility [1]. Unlike non-movable cast-in-place reinforced concrete structures, the protective structure can be assembled and disassembled repeatedly with the use of dedicated joining sockets. To provide the concept with a high mobility, the dimensions of single modules of the prefabricated reinforced concrete protective dome meet the transport limits dictated by the horizontal and vertical clearance of roads. A numerical computational analysis facilitated a determination of the distribution of internal forces in the protective stricture and dimensioning of the required reinforcement system [3]. The computations included standardized cases of steady and dynamic loads, and combinations thereof, complete with parameters of dynamic loads from an explosion impulse.
W artykule przedstawiono propozycję konstrukcji ochronnej, w postaci prefabrykowanej kopuły żelbetowej, do ochrony obiektu infrastruktury krytycznej [1]. Możliwość wielokrotnego montażu i demontażu tej konstrukcji, zamiast możliwej do zastosowania jednokrotnego konstrukcji w technologii monolitycznej, zapewnia użycie specjalnych gniazd połączeniowych. W celu zapewnienia dużej mobilności proponowanego rozwiązania przyjęto wymiary pojedynczych elementów spełniające wymagania dla transportu mieszczącego się w wymiarach skrajni drogowej. Numeryczna analiza obliczeniowa pozwoliła na wyznaczenie rozkładu sił wewnętrznych w konstrukcji oraz na zwymiarowanie wymaganego zbrojenia [3]. W obliczeniach tych zastosowano normatywne przypadki obciążeń stałych i zmiennych oraz ich kombinacje, uwzględniając parametry dynamicznego obciążenia impulsem wybuchu.

The work presents results of using the technology of terrestrial laser scanning in stocktaking measurements of spherical domes. The parameter subject to special evaluation is the value of the dome's diameter set on primary Ievel, which is compared with the theoretical value obtained from the technical project of the object. The measurements in several variants were made with the use of Leica ScanStation laser scanner bought by the Geodesy Institute. In office works the original manufacturer's programme (Cyclone v. 5.6) was used. The programme enables modeling the obtained observation results and making basic measurements, such as, among other, measuring the value of the diameter on the cross-section subject to the analysis. The results obtained with the use of laser scanning encourage to further detailed theoretically-empirical analysis.

One of the most important works of the Baroque erais an illusionistic painting presenting dome with a high drum and a lantern from church of St. Ignatius in Rome. The author of this painting is Andrea Pozzo SJ (1642–1709). Painted in the year 1685 the painting became an archetype for many paintings all around Europe. The aim of this article is to present the comments on the methods used by Pozzo for constructing the perspective of the domes.
Jednym z najbardziej znanych dzieł epoki baroku jest iluzjonistyczny obraz przestawiający kopułę z wysokim tamburem i latarnią z kościoła św. Ignacego w Rzymie. Autorem malowidła jest Włoch Andrea Pozzo SJ (1642-1709). Namalowany w roku1685 obraz stał się archetypem dla wielu malowideł w całej Europie. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie uwag na temat metod zastosowanych przez Pozzo przy konstruowaniu perspektyw kopuł.

The shallow marine deposits of the Late-Middle Jurassic (Callovian–Oxfordian) Jumara Formation of the Gangeshwar Dome of Mainland Kachchh, India, comprise a succession of ~247 m thick clastic sediments with few non-clastic bands and contain a diverse group of ichnofauna. The succession is subdivided into seven lithofacies, viz., laminated shale-siltstone facies (LSS), sheet sandstone facies (SS), herringbone sandstone facies (HS), bivalve sandstone facies (BS), bioclastic limestone facies (BL), intraformational conglomerate facies (IC) and oolitic limestone facies (OL). The ichnofaunal study shows 29 ichnospecies of 23 ichnogenera including Arenicolites, Bifungites, Bolonia, Chondrites, Didymaulichnus, Diplocraterion, Gyrochorte, Helminthopsis, Isopodichnus, Laevicyclus, Lockeia, Monocraterion, Taenidium, Ophiomorpha, Palaeophycus, Planolites, Phycodes, Protopalaeodictyon, Rhizocorallium, Skolithos, Thalassinoides, Tisoa, and Zoophycos. These trace fossils are distributed among nine ichnocoenose, characterized by Chondrites, Diplocraterion, Gyrochorte, Ophiomorpha, Rhizocorallium, Skolithos, Taenidium, Thalassinoides and Zoophycos. Their occurrence in the facies corresponds to their trophic and ethological properties. The colonisation of the opportunistic Diplocraterion and the Skolithos ichnocoenose shows a high den¬sity and marks foreshore/nearshore environmental conditions. The Gyrochorte, the Rhizocorallium, the Taenidium and the Thalassinoides ichnocoenose indicate the typically lower energy zone of the shoreface-offshore region. The Chondrites ichnocoenosis indicates fluctuation in bottom water oxygen while the Zoophycos ichnocoenosis typically exploited a calm water niche in the offshore region. These ich-nocoenose recur throughout the sequence and belong to the Skolithos and the Cruziana ichnofacies which marked changes in energy gradient, substrate stability, water depth and mode of life of invertebrate organisms. The study of trace fossil assemblages with sediment characteristics gives a detailed and accurate picture of foreshore to offshore palaeoenvironmental conditions.

The catastrophic mine failure resulting from the inrush of water into the Wapno Salt Mine was probably caused by a fracture in the roof protection shelf. The purpose of the present study was to apply the method of the homogenization of the multi-level room-and-pillar structure in the Wapno Salt Mine for 3D+t modelling of the elastic-viscous medium to determine the distribution of stress and strain, and, on that basis, to estimate the geomechanical conditions existing in the roof shelf. This paper presents briefly the spatial development of the salt mine’s structure and the results of the surveying measurements carried out during the salt mine’s operation and after the mine was flooded. Those results constituted a basis for the verification of the introduced homogenization parameters, i.e. the time-dependent changes of the elasticity modulus and the susceptibility to creep at particular salt mine’s levels. A simulated process demonstrated the development of positive values of principle stresses, increasing with time, and of omnidirectional tensile strains. In such conditions, the cracking of the protection shelf body could proceed, also with opening of water flow paths from the dome cap into the salt mine’s workings. This paper presents a new research method, the results of its application, and the obtained distribution of stresses and strains that can be useful for the assessment of water hazard in other salt mines.
Katastrofa górnicza wywołana wdarciem wody do kopalni soli w Wapnie spowodowana była prawdopodobnie pęknięciem ochronnej półki stropowej. Celem tej pracy było zastosowanie metody homogenizacji struktury komorowo-filarowej wielopoziomowej kopalni Wapno do modelowania ośrodka sprężysto-lepkiego 3D+t dla określenia rozkładu naprężeń i odkształceń oraz na tej podstawie oszacowania warunków geomechanicznych w półce stropowej. W pracy przedstawiono krótko rozwój przestrzenny struktury kopalni oraz wyniki przeprowadzonych pomiarów geodezyjnych w czasie działalności kopalni i po jej zatopieniu. Wyniki te były podstawą do weryfikacji wprowadzanych parametrów homogenizacji, tj. zmian w czasie modułu odkształceń i podatności na pełzanie poszczególnych poziomów kopani. Symulowany proces wykazał wykształcanie się rosnących w czasie dodatnich naprężeń głównych oraz wszechstronnych odkształceń rozciągających. W takich warunkach postępować mogło spękanie calizny półki ochronnej, a także otwieranie dróg przepływu wód z zawodnionej czapy wysadu do wyrobisk. Thermodynamic modelling and monazite Th-U-total Pb dating via electron microprobe were used to improve the pressure, temperature and timing constraints of the HP-HT metamorphic record in granulites from Stary Gierałtów (NE Orlica-Śnieżnik Dome (OSD), SW Poland). The thermodynamic calculations constrained the P-T conditions to 20-22 kbar and ca. 920ºC in the felsic to intermediate granulites and 20-22 kbar and ca. 970ºC in the mafic granulite. These conditions are considered to closely represent the peak temperatures experienced by these rocks. In the intermediate granulite, the matrix monazite and monazite inclusions in garnet and allanite yielded an age of 349±2.5 Ma. An HP-HT metamorphic event with temperature conditions exceeding 900ºC, which are greater than the closure temperatures of most geochronometers, must have disturbed and completely reset the isotopic systems, including the Th-U-Pb system in the monazite. Consequently, this resetting prevented us from constraining the age of potential earlier metamorphic events or the igneous protolith. The 349±2.5 Ma age reflects the timing of the late-stage HP-HT event and cooling below 900ºC related to the initial exhumation of the granulites. A comparison of the new P-T-t constraints with previous data from the NE Orlica-Śnieżnik Dome indicates that the activation of the channels that exhumed the HP rocks to mid-crustal depths most likely initiated at ca. 350 Ma, and all the metamorphic rocks in the OSD likely shared a common Variscan evolution after ca. 340 Ma.
