Opis:
The head loss is a decrease in compressive height caused by friction and direction changes of flow at the sliced bend. This method expected to provide is easy, fast, and economical. The elements of influence are the velocity of flow, the number of slices, average length of sliced walls, angle changes of the sliced, coefficient of friction, acceleration of gravity, and slope of the pipe. Equation for coefficient of head loss (Kb) is an analysis method for the head loss (hL) calculation. The analysis results that have obtained are the larger diameter of the pipe, and the more slices with a fixed discharge, the coefficient of hL becomes small. Conversely, if the diameter of the pipe is getting smaller, and the slice is getting less, then the coefficient of hL becomes bigger. This method, expected to give new knowledge in pipeline network applications, especially for the large diameter of pipelines.

Opis:
This paper develops a static model of endogenous task-based technical progress to study how factor scarcity induces technological progress and changes in factor prices. The equilibrium technology is multi-dimensional and not strongly factorsaving in the sense of Acemoglu (2010). Nevertheless, labour scarcity induces labour productivity growth. There is a  weak but no strong absolute equilibrium bias. This model provides a plausible interpretation of the famous contention of Hicks (1932) about the role of factor prices and factor endowments for induced innovations. It may serve as a microfoundation for canonical macro-economic models. Moreover, it accommodates features like endogenous factor supplies and a binding minimum wage.

Opis:
Introduction: The aim of the study was to examine relationships between power of the lower limb and agility, speed, and change of direction (COD) deficit in professional female soccer players. Material and methods: Thirty-three elite Polish Extraliga league soccer players (aged 22 ±5 years; body height 166 ± 4 cm; body weight 58 ± 8 kg) performed the following fitness tests: lower limb muscle power (Leg Press, Half Squat, Counter Movement Jump), straight linear speed (SLS 20 m), and COD speed ( Zig-Zag test, COD deficit). Using the median value as a reference, the players were subdivided into two groups (n=17; n=16) according to their LP, HS 60% 1RM, CMJ (High values below median = stronger group and Low = weaker group ). Results: The COD deficit was calculated as the difference between the 20m speed and the Zig-Zag test. The stronger group was better than the weaker group in SLS 20m (p<0.05; ES=1.23; 0.83; 0.93), but in the Zig-Zag agility test, the difference in the results was not statistically significant (p>0.05; ES=0.48; 0.34; 0.34) and this affected the COD deficit, which was higher (p<0.05; ES=0.9; 0.73; 0.72). The most important finding was that the stronger group had a higher COD deficit and its improvement (reduction) occurs only if the results of the agility test are improved (through agility training) [Ydeficit All groups=0.10+0.87* 20m - 0.83* Zig-Zag]. Increasing power (HS, LP) lead to the improvement in SLS p<0.05, not to COD abilities. Conclusion: This can be useful for coaches during agility training and to improve COD deficit in soccer players and women in general.

Opis:
The purpose of this study was to characterize the scope, direction and pace of the evolution taking place in the rural part of highly and less urbanized regions, including without limitation changes to the territorial distribution and percentage of the rural population in the voivodeships covered by this study; the levels of the technical and social infrastructure; the condition of agricultural productive inputs and the level of the farms’ commercial production; the development level of non-agricultural activities in rural areas. The source of information were books, magazines and publications of the Central Statistical Office (GUS). Once collected, the information was processed and interpreted with the use of a vertical and horizontal comparison method, the statistical method and the relative valuation method. It was found that: a) the rural population grows (and so does its share in the country’ population) though rural areas become smaller in size, b) more and more rural areas are transformed into residential areas, improving the level of technical and social infrastructure, c) the Śląsk region is characterized by a slower evolution of the general and rural infrastructure compared to Świętokrzyskie voivodeship, d) the regions covered by this study demonstrate a high decrease rate of agricultural land resources, accompanied by the growth of other productive inputs and of agricultural commercial production, e) rural areas are increasingly engaged in economic activities covered by the REGON register. The characteristics and consequences of entrepreneurship are diversified across the rural areas under consideration. The most positive effects can be noted in Śląsk region.

Opis:
Urban regions are well known to be warmer than the outlying surrounding regions: this phenomenon is termed an Urban Heat Island (UHI). Depending upon its severity, an UHI can influence human health, the condition of urban vegetation, as well as air and water quality leading to a general decline in the living conditions of the affected urban environments and residents. Some studies have shown that prevailing weather conditions, like wind patterns, can influence UHI magnitudes. These studies suggest that wind speeds may be inversely related to UHI magnitude. However, long-term and high frequency weather and temperature measurements are exceedingly rare, so the exact nature of the relationship between wind speeds and directions as well as UHI magnitudes remain unknown. In order to address this problem, this study investigates how UHI magnitudes in five Australian cities affect wind speed and wind direction. The results of this study revealed that urban–non-urban temperature differences are most pronounced under calm weather conditions. The UHI intensity weakened as wind velocity increased: strong significant negative correlations were found between the mean UHI intensity and mean wind speed magnitudes. The results show that the greatest UHI intensities are recorded when wind is weak (less than $2 ms^{-1}$), while the lowest magnitudes are found when wind speeds exceed $6 ms^{-1}$. Further, the results show that the critical wind speed value, above which the strength of the UHI is considerably minimized, is around $4–5 ms^{-1}$. In addition, the study shows that wind direction in each city is a critical driver factor that determines the intensity of the UHI effect. When winds originate from dry environments, they favour high UHI intensities at all wind speeds, while the winds from the ocean side of coastal cities tend to cool urban regions, reducing UHI intensities or even promoting the urban cool island formation.

Opis:
The article aims to investigate the essence and features of cross-border circular migration of rural population in order to substantiate the changes and directions of the policy concerning cross-border labor markets as well as defining its role and ability to reduce the risks of permanent emigration. The study was based on the publications of Ukrainian and foreign scientists concerning the theories of regional economy and the policy of the development of cross-border regions, cross-border cooperation and circular migration of rural population. The influence of a variety of factors upon the development of cross-border circular migration have been analyzed. Features of current cross-border policies and circular migration in Ukraine were described and challenges in order to aid the rural population in their economic activities were defined. Changes in the policy concerning cross-border cooperation in Ukraine are needed in order to gain maximum benefits from cross-border circular migration.

Opis:
High-resolution wind series in the southern Baltic Sea for the period of 1958–2007 are analysed to generate representative climate input conditions for a multi-scale morphodynamic model to simulate decadal-to-centennial coastline change. Four seasonal wind classes, each characterized by a predominant distribution of wind direction and speed, are derived from statistical analysis. Further calibration of this statistical description is done by sensitivity studies of the model to generate similar coastline changes of the Darss-Zingst peninsula as the measured data for the last century. The coastline change of this area is then projected for the next 300 years based on four different climate scenarios, through which impacts of accelerated sea level rise and storm frequency on the long-term coastline change are quantified.
