    Opis:
    Three-dimensional recording techniques, although growing rapidly in efficiency and applicability for archaeologists, have still not been turned to full account, mainly because they require for the most part expensive equipment and know-how. In this respect, photogrammetry is unique, being relatively cheap and easy to use. The joint Armenian–Polish archaeological project in Metsamor drew on the possibilities of this technology, which is relatively new to archaeological proceedings, in the daily recording system used at the site. The following article discusses the step-by-step application of photogrammetry in field documentation and its positive impact on archaeological work, Metsamor being taken as a case in point.

    Opis:
    A new Polish project, the first to be carried out in Ethiopia by the PCMA University of Warsaw, jointly with Mekelle University, focused on the excavation of the ruins of a church tentatively dated to the Late Aksumite period (6th–8th centuries AD). The site, which is located in the northern Ethiopian region of Tigray, was chosen for multiple reasons, not the least because of its location on ancient trade routes and because the surviving ruins offered the advantage of immediate visual impact. The work was unexpectedly interrupted by the global Covid-19 pandemic and recent political turbulences in the Tigray region. The paper discusses the early findings, providing, among others, a full description of the PolART excavations in the southeastern part of the church and the discovery of a rock shelter with an ancient inscription and painted pictograms.

    Opis:
    Digitization of documentation of white cards is currently a key aspect of preservation of national heritage. Destructive processes of archival documentation, escalation of acts of vandalism, consequences of war operations that have left their stamp on architectural objects as well as monuments of nature contributed to adaptation and introduction of the fifth form of national heritage, which is “digitization”. Digitization shall ensure the re-creation of not only lost national treasures in the future, but also shall enable researchers in architecture, archeologists, historians, conservators a research and an analysis of chosen objects and records related to it in a non-invasive and interactive way. Objects subject to digitization will be able to be analyzed more thoroughly since digital data rendered available by electronic means shall enable and facilitate an interdisciplinary research process. In the article, the author presents results that compare two methods for digitization of the chosen architectural object. Documentation consists in recording and preserving of the fragment of façade and the chosen architectural detail of the considered object. The object subject to analysis is the "Tenement under the singing frog" built in 1889-90 acc. to the project by Teodor Marian Talowski, in Kraków at Retoryki 1 St. For an analyzed example, research has consisted in application of photogrammetry and laser scanning methods to acquire information on spatial geometry of researched object and compare discrepancies of newly generated 3D models. The object presented has undergone a comparative analysis, based on which the key aspects have been isolated and then demonstrated in a graphic way, as well as specific issues related to them, such as precision and effect of distortion have been discussed. The objective of the work has been presentation of possibilities of practical application of photogrammetry as a cheaper method of digitization of architectural objects in relation to scanning method, applicable in digitization and preservation of national heritage consisting in development of new interactive documentation (white card).

    This article discusses the history of the development and significance of the “Old Believers Bibliography in North America”, a digital resource dedicated to the documentation and preservation of the cultural legacy of Old Believers in North America. It addresses how this comprehensive digital bibliography provides access to a broad range of resources, including scholarly articles, historical documents, and multimedia content, pertinent to the study of Old Believer communities. The article highlights the role of this online platform in enhancing research accessibility, facilitating academic scholarship, and promoting cultural preservation as well as underlines the bibliography's impact on both scholarly research and community awareness of Old Believers. It reflects on the broader implications of digital bibliographies in preserving intangible cultural heritage and fostering diverse historical narratives.
