Opis:
In this paper the multiple output current amplifier basic cell is proposed. The triple output current mirror and current follower circuit are described in detail. The cell consists of a split nMOS differential pair and accompanying biasing current sources. It is suitable for low voltage operation and exhibits highly linear DC response. Through cell devices scaling, not only unity, but also any current gains are achievable. As examples, a current amplifier and bandpass biquad section designed in CMOS TSMC 90nm technology are presented. The current amplifier is powered from a 1.2V supply. MOS transistors scaling was chosen to obtain output gains equal to -2, 1 and 2. Simulated real gains are -1.941, 0.966 and 1.932 respectively. The 3dB passband obtained is above 20MHz, while current consumption is independent of input and output currents and is only 7.77μA. The bandpass biquad section utilises the previously presented amplifier, two capacitors and one resistor, and has a Q factor equal to 4 and pole frequency equal to 100 kHz.

Opis:
This paper introduces a new current mode component called Modified Current Differencing Transconductance Amplifier (MCDTA). Important parameters of the circuit i.e. input resistance, z terminal resistance and transconductance of the output stage can be tuned electrically. The circuit can be implemented in linear and non-linear analog signal processing. The paper presents an example of the MCDTA application - a complete quadrature oscillator with the amplitude regulation. The functionality of the example circuit and its tuning capability were proved by the SPICE simulation results.

Opis:
Precise current measurements are essential part of modern motor control algorithms. They are also required in switch mode power converters, safety circuits, current sources, supervisor systems and many other applications. In order to select the right method, it is often required from the designer to have wide knowledge of the appropriate integrated circuit, its parameters and applications. Still increasing requirements for the speed and precision of designing solutions, decreasing voltage levels, power consumption and aspects of EMC compatibility impose often contrary initial conditions.
Rosnące wymagania dotyczące szybkości i precyzji projektowanych rozwiązań, obniżenie poziomów napięć, zużycie energii oraz aspekty kompatybilności elektromagnetycznej powodują często sprzeczne warunki początkowe.

Opis:
This paper presents the design of a chopper stabilized current mode instrumentation amplifier and analyzes the performance limitations imposed by chopping technique in detail. The amplifier targets to be the read out circuitry of a high precision temperature sensor. Since the required bandwidth in this kind of applications is very low, nested chopping technique is used to provide continuous offset reduction and eliminate 1/f noise. The amplifier is designed in 0.18 μm CMOS process. The resulting input referred noise is 20 nV/√ Hz, the offset is 582 nV and the CMRR exceeds 110 dB. The power consumption of the total design is 420 μW.

Opis:
In this paper a programmable input mode instrumentation amplifier (IA) utilising second generation, multiple output current conveyors and transmission gates is presented. Its main advantage is the ability to choose a voltage or current mode of inputs by setting the voltage of two configuration nodes. The presented IA is prepared as an integrated circuit block to be used alone or as a sub-block in a microcontroller or in a field programmable gate array (FPGA), which shall condition analogue signals to be next converted by an analogue-to-digital converter (ADC). IA is designed in AMS 0.35 µm CMOS technology and the power supply is 3.3 V; the power consumption is approximately 9.1 mW. A linear input range in the voltage mode reaches ± 1.68 V or ± 250 µA in current mode. A passband of the IA is above 11 MHz. The amplifier works in class A, so its current supply is almost constant and does not cause noise disturbing nearby working precision analogue circuits.

Opis:
The paper presents a new electromechanical amplifying device i.e., an electromechanical biological transistor. This device is located in the outer hair cell (OHC), and constitutes a part of the Cochlear amplifier. The physical principle of operation of this new amplifying device is based on the phenomenon of forward mechanoelectrical transduction that occurs in the OHC’s stereocilia. Operation of this device is similar to that of classical electronic Field Effect Transistor (FET). In the considered electromechanical transistor the input signal is a mechanical (acoustic) signal. Whereas the output signal is an electric signal. It has been shown that the proposed electromechanical transistor can play a role of the active electromechanical controlled element that has the ability to amplify the power of input AC signals. The power required to amplify the input signals is extracted from a battery of DC voltage. In the considered electromechanical transistor, that operates in the amplifier circuit, mechanical input signal controls the flow of electric energy in the output circuit, from a battery of DC voltage to the load resistance. Small signal equivalent electrical circuit of the electromechanical transistor is developed. Numerical values of the electrical parameters of the equivalent circuit were evaluated. The range, which covers the levels of input signals (force and velocity) and output signals (voltage, current) was determined. The obtained data are consistent with physiological data. Exemplary numerical values of currents, voltages, forces, vibrational velocities and power gain (for the assumed input power levels below 1 picowatt (〖10〗^(-12) W), were given. This new electromechanical active device (transistor) can be responsible for power amplification in the cochlear amplifier in the inner ear.

Opis:
A novice advanced architecture of 8-bit analog to digital converter is introduced and analyzed in this paper. The structure of proposed ADC is based on the sub-ranging ADC architecture in which a 4-bit resolution flash-ADC is utilized. The proposed ADC architecture is designed by employing a comparator which is equipped with common mode current feedback and gain boosting technique (CMFD-GB) and a residue amplifier. The proposed 8 bits ADC structure can achieve the speed of 140 mega-samples per second. The proposed ADC architecture is designed at a resolution of 8 bits at 10 MHz sampling frequency. DNL and INL values of the proposed design are -0.94/1.22 and -1.19/1.19 respectively. The ADC design dissipates a power of 1.24 mW with the conversion speed of 0.98 ns. The magnitude of SFDR and SNR from the simulations at Nyquist input is 39.77 and 35.62 decibel respectively. Simulations are performed on a SPICE based tool in 90 nm CMOS technology. The comparison shows better performance for this proposed ADC design in comparison to other ADC architectures regarding speed, resolution and power consumption.
