    To derive a more effective educational method, racial differences among Chinese students in learning Korean culture was invesigated using a survey method. The Han and Joseon racial groups in China were examined. Before the survey, the Han race students (Chinese students except Joseon race students, in this case) preferred a language and culture teaching method (LCTM), whereas the Joseon race students favored an audiovisual teaching method (AVTM). However, after experiencing four different teaching methods – comparative-cultural teaching method (CCTM), AVTM, LCTM, and rote memorization teaching method—for two weeks, the Han race students preferred the AVTM more, whereas the Joseon race students preferred the CCTM. Thus, students from the same country require different education methods.

    The scientific discipline of archeology has gone through various stages of its development and improvement of research methods. First, it was combined with ancient history and the history of art. In the mid-nineteenth century, the base of its chronology was on biblical events. Modernist archeology of the twentieth century focused on classifying monuments and reconstructing cultural processes. In the second half of the twentieth century, archeology inspired other disciplines of culture and science to “stratigraphically” look at their own history. In this way, the stratification of scientific thought (archeology of knowledge), the history of photography (archeology of photography), and the media (archeology of media) began to be analyzed. Archeology has become a cognitive metaphor in contemporary culture. Lack of knowledge of the theoretical and methodological achievements worked out by archaeologists may, after some time, lead to the trivialization and petrification of the archaeological metaphor, although today it still seems fresh and innovative for “archeology of media,” “archeology of photography,” or “archeology of modernism.”

    Though it is laborious to examine the culture of the school, researchers have been endeavouring to empirically apprehend it since the 1960’s. A variety of research jobs have been carried out, of various starting points, ways of materialisation, and conclusions. The present text indicates a way of classifying these studies according to the purposes they had been assigned. Though the list of examples is not entirely complete nor is the classification definite, a conclusion is clear and evident: in most cases, the culture of the school is not examined in order to grasp this culture itself. Much more often, the culture of the school is examined as a starting point, a pre-condition, or a tool to explore another object of the researcher’s interest outside the culture itself, such as the quality and evaluation of the school’s overall performance, the quality of the learning process, or the school’s developmental potential.

    Japanese methods, concepts, and management tools enjoy rising popular in the world and in Poland, which is the consequence of the assumptions and practical results achieved thanks to the solutions applied by business entities and organizations. The aim of this study is a comprehensive assessment of conditions and internal determinants of competitiveness, enabling effective implementation of Japanese methods and techniques of production management, in the enterprise under consideration. The hypothesis to verify is the statement that the implementation of Japanese management methods in the examined enterprise increased the economic efficiency of individual production processes and improved its organizational culture. The triangulation method in the form of direct observation analysis of information taken from primary and secondary sources was applied. Also, there was conducted a questionnaire survey, completed with an individual in-depth interview with the company employees (leaders and coordinators) in the field of Japanese production management methods. The possibilities of using Japanese management methods in enterprises are huge. The effectiveness of the implementation of Japanese management methods, concepts, and tools in the studied organization is manifested, among others, in such results as improvement of employees’ working conditions, organized production, increased safety on the premises, organizational culture focused on respect for others, the possibility of personal development, increased efficiency of individual production processes, and reduced waste. Achieving the best production and economic results is possible thanks to experienced and knowledgeable employee teams. Japanese concepts are very strongly oriented towards cooperation between management and employees. Unfortunately, not every employee has a chance to develop, as it is limited to selected senior units. Employees’ knowledge of management methods, concepts, and tools is assessed as low by leaders and coordinators. The lack of participation in training and the lack of knowledge of some employees is the main reason for this claim. In the opinion of managers, young people are more open to change, see knowledge as an essential element in life, strive to learn and get the most out of work. The production plant under investigation should train employees in the methodology they apply. The training should be more practical, thought-provoking, voluntary, and offered with a specific frequency and with certain stages of difficulty. Instead of defining Japanese management methods, concepts, and tools, their effects and their practical meaning should be shown.
    Japońskie metody, koncepcje i narzędzia zarządzania cieszą się rosnącą popularnością na świecie i w Polsce, co wynika z założeń i praktycznych rezultatów osiąganych dzięki rozwiązaniom stosowanym przez podmioty i organizacje gospodarcze. Celem opracowania jest kompleksowa ocena warunków i wewnętrznych determinant konkurencyjności badanego przedsiębiorstwa, umożliwiających skuteczną implementację japońskich metod i technik zarządzania produkcją. Weryfikowaną hipotezą jest twierdzenie, że wdrożenie japońskich metod zarządzania w badanym przedsiębiorstwie spowodowało wzrost efektywności ekonomicznej poszczególnych procesów produkcyjnych i poprawę kultury organizacyjnej spółki. Zastosowano metodę triangulacji w postaci obserwacji bezpośredniej, analizy informacji zaczerpniętych ze źródeł pierwotnych i wtórnych oraz przeprowadzono badania ankietowe, uzupełnione indywidualnym wywiadem pogłębionym z pracownikami (liderami i koordynatorami) przedsiębiorstwa w zakresie problematyki japońskich metod zarządzania produkcją. Możliwości wykorzystania japońskich metod zarządzania w przedsiębiorstwach są bardzo duże. Efektywność implementacji japońskich metod, koncepcji i narzędzi zarządzania w badanej organizacji przejawia się m.in. w takich rezultatach, jak: poprawa warunków pracy zatrudnionych, zorganizowana produkcja, zwiększenie bezpieczeństwa na terenie zakładu, kultura organizacyjna nastawiona na szacunek wobec drugiego człowieka, możliwość osobistego rozwoju, zwiększenie efektywności poszczególnych procesów produkcyjnych, ograniczenie marnotrawstwa. Osiąganie najlepszych wyników produkcyjno-ekonomicznych jest możliwe dzięki posiadającym doświadczenie i wiedzę zespołom pracowniczym. Koncepcje japońskie są bardzo silnie nastawione na współpracę kierownictwa z pracownikami. Niestety nie każdy pracownik ma szansę rozwoju, ponieważ ogranicza się ona do wybranych jednostek wyższego szczebla. Wiedza pracowników dotycząca metod, koncepcji i narzędzi zarządzania jest oceniana przez liderów i koordynatorów jako niska. Brak uczestnictwa w szkoleniach i samodzielne niepogłębianie wiedzy przez niektórych pracowników stanowi zasadniczą przyczynę tego twierdzenia. W opinii kierowników osoby młode są bardziej otwarte na zmiany, postrzegają wiedzę jako ważny element w życiu, dążą do tego, aby nauczyć się i wynieść z pracy jak najwięcej. Badany zakład produkcyjny powinien szkolić pracowników z metodologii, z jakiej korzystają. Szkolenia powinny być bardziej praktyczne, zmuszające pracowników do myślenia, dobrowolne i oferowane z pewną częstotliwością i o określonych etapach trudności. Zamiast definiowania japońskich metod, koncepcji i narzędzi zarządzania, powinno pokazywać się ich skutki i sens wykorzystania w praktyce.

    Young adulthood is a critical period because it is the time when young people begin to live on their own, and adopt health behaviours which can influence their lifestyle and health status. In social practice there are many community belongings and community-ba-sed support systems and programs in health, which aim to increase young adults’ health literacy and offer learning possibilities and support services.The study focuses on the education and the literacy as determinants of health, seve-ral fields of health education and health promotion related to young adults, elements and determinants of health culture, the links between health and learning, adults’ interest and claims related to learning process, methods, topics.In my research I made a survey of learning methods and contents with the help of the analysis of the scientific literature and by questionnaires. I examined young adults’ (18 to 30) concepts of health and healthy lifestyle, motivations, forms of communication, learningmethods and participation in community platforms of health. We use the results of this research to improve programs that support young people’s learning activities for health.

    The cytotoxic effects of volatile and water-insoluble organic solvents (ethylbenzene, tetrachloroethylene, n-hexane) were tested on isolated hepatocytes in monolayer culture by using the 3-(4,5 dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) reduction assay. All of the tested compounds inhibited metabolic activity of hepatocytes and this effect depended on the concentration of solvents in the incubatory medium. The presence of fetal calf serum in the medium did not change the cytotoxicity of xenobiotics. IC50 values calculated on the basis of the MTT assay indicated that ethylbenzene was more cytotoxic than tetrachloroethylene and n-hexane. Using hepatocyte monolayer culture and the MTT assay to assess cytotoxicity of organic solvents causes many technical problems. It seems that it cannot be used as a rapid, cheap, and credible method.

    The paper aims to discuss Polish terms that name authority bodies under the administrative law and their English equivalents. The Polish terms under analysis appear in the first Division of the Polish Code of Administrative Procedure of 14 June 1960 and the English equivalents of each Polish term researched have been suggested in the Polish Code of Administrative Procedure translation into English. The research problem is to determine the translation methods applied and to verify whether translation methods used in the Polish-English translation of the above terms which have been determined as culture-specific items appear among translation methods applied when translating culture-specific elements suggested by Hejwowski (2007). Furthermore, to verify whether the mentioned translation methods appear among the translation methods discussed by Weston (1993) which are recommended to be applied while translating legal terms. The theoretical part of the paper includes a presentation of the definitions of a legal term, culture-specific item and the classification of translation methods by Hejwowski and Weston. The research stages include the comparison of definitions of source elements and definitions of their equivalents, as long as they appear in monolingual English law dictionaries.
    Badanie ma na celu omówienie polskich terminów, które nazywają organy prawa administracyjnego oraz ich ekwiwalentów angielskich. Terminy polskie poddane analizie występują w pierwszym Dziale Kodeksu Postępowania Administracyjnego z dnia 14 czewca 1960 (KPA), natomiast omawiane ekwiwalenty zostały zastosowane w tłumaczeniu polskiego KPA na język angielski. Celem analizy jest określenie technik przekładowych zastosowanych w przekładzie elementów źródłowych oraz potwierdzenie lub zaprzeczenie tezie, zgodnie z którą techniki zastosowane w przekładzie omawianych elementów nacechowanych kulturowo występują w klasyfikacji technik zaproponowanych przez Hejwowskiego (2007) do stosowania w przekładzie elementów nacechowanych kulturowo. Ponadto należy zweryfikować, czy zastosowane techniki pojawiają się w klasyfikacji technik tłumaczeniowych wyróżnionych przez Westona (1993), służących do przekładu terminów prawnych. W części teoretycznej przedstawiono m.in. definicję terminu prawnego, elementu nacechowanego kulturowo oraz klasyfikacje technik tłumaczeniowych Hejwowskiego i Westona. Na etapy badania składa się m. in. porównanie definicji elementu źródłowego oraz jego ekwiwalentu, jeżeli występuje on w jednojęzycznym słowniku prawa angielskiego.

    The article describes the experience in the use of simulation computer programs for the implementation of information culture of students in the study of the content line, „Algorithmic and programming”. The aims and objectives of the use of simulation at the present stage of studying computer science. Examples of the use of information technology in the study of the content of this line.
    В статье изложен опыт использования имитационного моделирования исполнения программ компьютером для формирования информационной культуры учащихся при изучении содержательной линии «Алгоритмизация и программирование». Определены цели и задачи использования имитационного моделирования на рассматриваемом этапе изучения информатики. Приведены примеры использования информационных технологий при изучении данной содержательной линии.
    W artykule opisane zostały doświadczenia autorów w wykorzystaniu komputerowych programów symulacyjnych do rozwijania kultury informacyjnej studentów z wykorzystaniem badania zawartości poleceń algorytmicznych i programistycznych.
