Opis:
The aim of the study is to demonstrate the paradoxicality determining human life. The natural aspiration of the subject is to strive to achieve order, enabling a reasonably satisfying and passably predictable life, guaranteeing the essential sense of security both on an individual and on a social dimension. The ancient writers and thinkers saw the origins of differentiation, and thereby of the impossibility of achieving coherence and order, in the external reality. Views of thinkers of the 19th and 20th centuries show not only a demand for diversity to be taken into consideration, but also reveal their picture of culture as something highly heterogeneous that cannot be reduced to just a single, preferred vision. Multitude of models and values creates the potential for dialogue, which is irregular and spontaneous.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to draw attention to the new challenges and tasks of the two sub-disciplines of education (comparative and cross-cultural education) in the face of widespread cultural diversity, growing nationalisms and the ongoing war in Ukraine. The author assumes that cultural diversity is the civilisational wealth of mankind, therefore these sub-disciplines are confronted with the challenge of conducting, in a conscious and responsible manner, the educational activities that provide knowledge about their own culture and other cultures and their representatives. The author presents numerous problems that these subdisciplines have to address, ranging from the awareness of the value of inherited culture to the need and necessity to transcend one's own ethnocent3rism and sociocentrism. He poses numerous questions, refers to historical facts, points to the need for the emancipation of national memories, etc. What is seen as the fundamental challenge for comparative and cross-cultural education is the one of liberating oneself from hyper-subordination and the ability to engage in a dialogue free from propaganda that intends to dominate the thinking and attitudes oriented towards cognition, understanding, cooperation, collaboration.

Opis:
In my paper I show the relevance of cultural-activity theory for solving the puzzles of the concept of consciousness which encounter contemporary philosophy. I reconstruct the main categories of cultural-activity theory as developed by M.M. Bakhtin, L.S. Vygotsky, G.H. Mead, and J. Dewey. For the concept of consciousness the most important thing is that the phenomenon of human consciousness is consider to be an effect of intersection of language, social relations, and activity. Therefore consciousness cannot be reduced to merely sensual experience but it has to be treated as a complex process in which experience is converted into language expressions which in turn are used for establishing interpersonal relationships. Consciousness thus can be accounted for by its reference to objectivity of social relationships rather than to the world of physical or biological phenomena.

In the article I ask the question about the place of an emancipatory task within various forms of psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, where conversations with the patient play an important role. This task arises on discovering that an important source of the patient’s problems are views inherited fom cultural traditions, ones which inhibit a proper assessment of various traumatic situations fom the past and the forms of dependence on others. Then psychotherapists and psychoanalysts are inevitably faced with the task of making the patient aware of these limitations and forms of dependence, for only then is therapeutic progress possible. I provide three characteristic examples of similar cases fom Polish psychiatric tradition, in which we can speak of a similarly binding role of cultural tradition in the process of therapy. I point out that the difcult situation the therapist then fnds themselves in lies in the fact that, on the one hand, they have to depart fom the postulate of maintaining world-view neutrality in their approach to the patient while, on the other hand, they cannot directly impose their own position on the patient. The therapist has to fnd a third, middle way betwee

Opis:
More than two decades following the end of civil conflict made possible via Dayton Peace Accords (DPA) instated in 1995, Bosnia-Herzegovina still utilizes this international legal instrument as the sovereign’s official constitution. This paper addresses the impact that the international community’s failure to implement the appropriate locally considerate solutions needed to sustain peacebuilding has left behind. To this end, the paper highlights the quotidian ways in which the socio-cultural landscape of the Bosnian Federation and Republika Srpska remain stratified along ethno-religious divisions. Directing its’ attention on the practical aspects where minorities face discrimination and remain excluded from social spheres the paper calls for a necessary advancement on the human rights protection of safeguarding minority members in both of the country’s de-facto territories. In closing, it argues that society’s schism from the residual consequences of the DPA can be achieved through the practices of change-drivers taking advantage of their training and capacity-building skills in the forms of: inter-ethnic dialogue, inter-cultural reconciliation and inter-religious peace. Constructing competences which demonstrate respect for human rights, encourage co-existence and the equal integration of minority members in society also bear the potential to strengthen the currently fragile relations with the out-group community, reducing a society’s propensity for conflict regression.

Opis:
This article addresses the concept of preserving cultural heritage by looking at the flourishing historical and cultural links between Hungary and Byzantium and at their modern manifestations. Since the 1980s and 1990s both Hungary and Greece have organised intensive language and cultural education courses for foreign nationals and those with Hungarian and Greek ancestry to promote intercultural dialogue. In addition to discussing the historical bonds that date back millennia, this article also outlines the sources and resources used to maintain Hungarian and Greek cultural characteristics. It demonstrates some of the best practices of Greek language and culture programmes offered, which serve the notion of the continued survival and flourishment of European cultural heritage.
