Opis:
Research background: Corporate reputation and image are two valuable intangible resources of the company, aimed at building its long-term competitive advantage and market value. Although reputation and image are interrelated categories, they should not be identified with each other. The differences are not only in the definition and the character, but also in the mechanism of formation and tools to create these resources by the company. Image is a picture, perceptions and associations about the company in the minds of consumers, which may be created using the tools of PR and advertising in a relatively short period of time. Reputation is a review of the company and its activities, formulated by various stakeholder groups, on the basis of not only advertising, but also on the basis of the assessment of real activities of companies in the long term. Purpose of the article: The cognitive objective of the article is to point out the fundamental differences between reputation and image on the basis of the analysis of approaches and theoretical concepts. The practical objective is to make an attempt to identify the differences and relationships between reputation and image on the basis of empirical analysis, therefore the research was conducted in the Polish banking sector. Methods: In order to evaluate image and reputation, the survey method was used aimed at the customers of banks operating on the Polish market. Findings & Value added: Reputation and image are two separate, intangible assets that support each other and the company needs each of them to build its competitive advantage. The results of empirical study allowed formulating the thesis that the banks, whose reputation is rated better by the customers, also have a better and more coherent image in their minds.

Contrary to subsequent studies focused on the construction of corporate identity, this article aims to examine the stakeholder’s perception of corporate identity projected to the public through language and visual manifestations on corporate “About us” pages. A qualitative, data-driven approach has been taken in the study. The results, based on data collected from in-depth, semi-structured interviews with twenty professionals, demonstrate the interviewees’ deep scepticism towards corporate narrations, which are interpreted as persuasive and serving corporate ends. Thus, online projections of corporate identities do always match actual images held by stakeholders. The interviewees have emerged as critical readers of corporate communications and active constructors of corporate image.

Research background: The difference of war and peace can help gain an under-standing of the differences in the management of a company's reputation in terms of its stability as compared to the state of a reputation crisis. The question of practical confirmation, which is left open, is whether there is a positive correlation between the anti-crisis activity of the reputation management system and its stability in a long-term perspective, or whether these two factors are inversely related. Purpose of the article: This research is essentially aimed at studying the impact of innovation activity, media activity, and corporate social responsibility on reputational stability as well as on anti-crisis reputational sustainability. Methods: Indicators of innovation activity, media activity, corporate social responsibility, reputational stability, and anti-crisis reputational sustainability were collected in a sample of the most frequently mentioned in the media leading companies of the Ukrainian economy (N = 315), using an online survey done among 110 industry experts within the framework of the Reputation ACTIVists All-Ukrainian Ranking of Corporate Reputation Management Quality over February-March'2019 period. Structural equation modeling (SEM) in using the maximum likelihood estimation method was applied to examine the associations between above-mentioned indicators, according to the aim of the study. Findings & Value added: The results of our study revealed: 1) the existence of a significant correlation between CSR and reputational stability; 2) innovative and media activity are the most significant variables to provide anti-crisis sustainability; 3) CSR is less important for ensuring anti-crisis sustainability than for maintaining reputational stability; 4) anti-crisis sustainability is significantly more dependent on media activity than reputational stability is. By better understanding the roles of innovation activity, media activity,  and corporate social responsibility, the company's management in Ukraine can leverage the results of the study to improve reputation management performance, differentiating approaches in circumstances of a crisis and stability.

Opis:
The aim of this study was to verify the short-term impact of financial variables on the corporate reputation perceived by investors. In the study we applied an approach from the field of business valuation assuming that corporate reputation perceived by investors is reflected in the difference between the valuation of a company by investors and its book value. Using panel data methodology, we analysed impacts of selected financial variables, representing company’s profitability, stability and its level of risk, on these differences in valuations of selected companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Particularly, we chose companies operating in Construction and IT sectors to represent different types of activities (industry vs. services), which impacts also the diversity in the structure of their financial statements. In the study we used multiple regression models and analysis of contingency tables (chi-squared tests of independence and Yule’s coefficient of colligation). Our data suggest that there is a lack of strong short-term relations between analysed financial variables and corporate reputation. Nevertheless, we found different determinants of corporate reputation in the Construction sector (stability and profitability as well as their changes) and in the IT sector (stability, changes in profitability and the level of financial risk).

Opis:
The article analyses the influence made by corporate reputation on the mediation model for the impact of external support on organisational performance through resilience. The article aims to clarify the mechanism behind the moderating role of corporate reputation played in the influence of external support on organisational performance and considering the mediating role of organisational resilience. The empirical research was made to verify the existence of the relationship and to reach the aim of the paper. The set of hypotheses was built based on the theoretical research and then verified on the sample of 268 organisations operating in Poland. Dependences among the data selected from the theoretical research were analysed using statistical methods, including the correlation with the moderator and the mediated regression analysis. The obtained results clearly showed that corporate reputation was a moderator of the discussed mediation model for the influence of the external support on organisational performance through resilience. The paper contributes to further development of knowledge in organisational resilience management. It clarifies and stresses the role of two external factors: corporate reputation and external support in shaping the resilience of an organisation and its performance. The obtained results imply specific practical recommendations. Since corporate reputation can be the key to achieving greater organisational resilience and performance, special attention should be given to managing this category in an organisation.

So much pressure abounds for supply chains to deliver goods and services in the right quantity, quality, to the right place and at the right time and least cost possible. It is an acceptable fact that supply chain operations, local or global, face numerous unforeseen challenges that expose them to ineffective and inefficient performance. It is evident that organizations that manage environmental, social and economic risks are better positioned to deliver sustainable supply chain operations. The next generation of supply chain management should not be comfortable with the old adage of out-of-sight out-of-mind behaviour as this presents an unacceptable reputational risk level to the sustainability of logistics business operations.

Opis:
Research background: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a fundamental role in countries’ economies. Currently, entrepreneurs are struggling not only with the uncertainty of the business environment, but also with high expectations for businesses to be run in a sustainable way. Therefore, the impact of corporate reputation and social media on sustainability is an area of interest for entrepreneurs. In this context, little research has been conducted on their perception of the linkage between these issues. Furthermore, there has been no direct explanation of the effects of SMEs’ reputation and social media usage on their sustainable development, especially in the V4 countries. Purpose of the article: This article defines, quantifies, and verifies the effects of corporate reputation and social media on sustainable development as perceived by SMEs’ owners and top managers in the V4 countries. Methods: Data were gathered in December 2022 and January 2023 using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method. The survey was designed based on a literature review and experts’ opinions. Respondents (top managers of SMEs, n = 1090) were asked questions on their firms’ characteristics, reputation, social media usage and sustainable development. The linear regression modelling (LRM) was utilised to evaluate the hypothesis. Findings & value added: The study revealed a strong relationship between owners’ and top managers’ perceptions of the importance of both corporate reputation and sustainable development in SMEs. The belief that social media supports the growth of companies’ performance is related to the understanding of the concept of sustainable business development. Surprisingly, for the owners and top managers of SMEs in V4 countries, there was no relationship between the awareness of social media usage to share information with customers and partners and the understanding of sustainable business growth.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to show the negative impact of greenwashing on the company's reputation and to propose ways of using CSR and green marketing tools to reduce green reputation risk. Design/methodology/approach: The article attempts to answer the question: How to use CSR and green marketing tools so that they are not perceived as greenwashing and do not generate green reputation risk? The following methods were used: literature review, deductive inference based on the analysis of the following concepts: CSR and sustainable development, stakeholder theory, corporate reputation management, stakeholder engagement and social innovation. Findings: The most frequently postulated method of limiting greenwashing is the legal regulation of CSR, but due to its weaknesses, it is proposed to develop cooperation with stakeholders in order to jointly create green strategies and social innovations. Practical implications: The methods and directions of activities limiting the negative effects of greenwashing in the context of reducing green reputation risk and improving the reputation management process were indicated. Originality/value: The article contributes to the development of reputation management theory by drawing attention to another source of reputational risk, the so-called green risk, such as greenwashing, with an indication of how to reduce or avoid it.

Opis:
The importance of reputation in achieving a competitive advantage and creating a company’s value is noticed by both theorists and practitioners of management. However, the relationship between the level of corporate reputation and a company’s investment characteristics, which determine their investment attractiveness, still has not been systematically and comprehensively verified. The variety of previously used methods for assessing and measuring corporate reputation means that the results are not quite reliable and cannot be used for intra-sectoral, cross-sectoral and over time comparisons and makes it difficult — or even impossible — to examine the relevant relationship between reputation and market value or the investment risk of different entities. Therefore, the main purpose of the paper is to attempt to determine the relationship between the assessment of companies by the capital market — based on price multipliers — and their reputation, obtained using an original method, based on information reported by companies and the methodology of fuzzy sets. The research is preliminary in nature and was performed on the Polish banking companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in the period of 2007-2018.

Opis:
The purpose of this research is to test and analyze the role of corporate reputation moderation towards satisfaction with service recovery in the industrial banking. This research uses a credit customer in six major banks in the West Java Province, Indonesia with the technique of accidental sampling. Statistic technique uses structural equation modeling (SEM). Result of this research shows that (1) distributive justice, procedural, interpersonal, and informational on the complaint handing is able to increase satisfaction with service recovery (2) corporate reputation moderates the effect of distributive justice, procedural, and informational towards customer satisfaction with service recovery, but not moderates the effect of interpersonal justice on the customer satisfaction with service recovery. Research theory contribution shows that the importance of customer behavior on satisfaction with service recovery can use justice approach which is a behavioral strategy of satisfaction with service recovery on service and can be implemented in banking services industry.

Background: Retention of customers to maintain long term profitable relationship is indispensable for the organizations operating in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs) sector. Due to lucrative nature of market, proximity of new entrants is very high in emerging FMCGs markets. In order to retain customers for longer time and make them loyal with the brand, companies are spending heavily on advertising campaigns. Informative and normative advertising appeals are two widely used appeals in FMCGs advertisements. This research aims at finding the degree of relationship of informative and normative ad appeals with brand loyalty in FMCGs context. Efforts have been put to understand the relationship of three very important variables; corporate reputation, brand loyalty and brand advocacy in FMCGs sector. Methods: Data were collected using questionnaire with the sample size of 400 from four different cities of Pakistan. Regression analysis was conducted to find the relationships between variables. Firstly, all were measured independently with each other, and then mediating effect of brand loyalty on the relationship between corporate reputation and brand advocacy was measured. Results: The results revealed that informative advertising appeal has created more impact on brand loyalty than normative advertising appeal in FMCGs sector. On the other hand, findings also suggest that corporate reputation and brand loyalty are important but not the major contributor towards the brand advocacy in FMCGs sector. Conclusions: The research has great significance for marketing professionals and practitioners as it would guide them about strategic direction for the use of appropriate appeals in advertising campaign.

Cancer patients face complicated situations from an emotional, social and physical perspective. Hospitals help them through implementing corporate communication initiatives based on social media platforms. This win-win relationship allows hospitals to reinforce their brand reputation. This paper aims to better understand how cancer hospitals manage social media platforms for enhancing their brand as well as their relationships with stakeholders. To do that, we carried out a literature review about corporate communication in health organizations, as well as a content analysis about how the top 100 American cancer hospitals managed their corporate website as well as their corporate profile on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for branding initiatives. Finally, we proposed the Reb Model for Branding Cancer Hospitals. We concluded that thanks to social media, cancer hospitals can reinforce their brand because these platforms allow them to promote human values, improve their internal processes and become a true source of scientific information.

Background: The current study reveals the effectiveness of gender diversity in the boardroom and considers its impact on a firm’s corporate social responsibility, financial performance and reputation, which leads towards business sustainability. The study is based on stakeholder theory assumptions which state that female directors play a vital role in board diversification. Methodology: 100 index firms listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange were chosen as a sample size. The firm’s financial performance was measured by using three proxies in order to get robust results. Panel data of 6 years from 2010 to 2015 was applied for data analysis. The data was analyzed by applying the Fixed-Random OLS regression, which revealed that gender diversity in the boardroom has no significant relationship with corporate social responsibility (CSR), financial performance, and the reputation of a firm. Results: Study results revealed that HODI mitigates corporate social responsibility activity. According to the Fixed-Random Regression results, PW has no significant impact on shareholder return. Sales and ROA have a significant positive relationship with SHR. Conclusions: There is a negative relationship between boardroom gender diversity and a firm’s financial performance. Females in boardrooms either cause negative effects or have no impact on the firm’s financial performance. Similarly, there is no significant relationship between the presence of women in boardrooms and a firm’s reputation.
