Opis:
The aim of the article is to introduce the issues of responsibility and conscientiousness. Its empirical part focuses on the presentation of the results of comparative studies per-formed among soldiers (n = 62) and civilians (n = 62) with regard to conscientiousness and responsibility. The Sense of Responsibility Scale by Romuald Debris and scales examining conscientiousness from NEO-PI-R questionnaire by Paul Costa and Robert McCrae were used for the study purposes. The results obtained show that, contrary to public opinion, soldiers are not more diligent and responsible than people working in civilian professions. Practical implications were subjected to discussion and further research directions have been proposed.

Opis:
The five factor trait of conscientiousness is a supertrait, denoting on one hand a pattern of excessive labor, rigidity, orderliness and compulsivity, and on the other hand a pattern of strict rectitude, scrupulosity, dutifulness and morality. In both respects the obsessive-compulsive personality is conscientious; indeed, it has been labeled a disorder of extreme conscientiousness (Widiger et al., 2009). Antisocial personality disorder, in the present paper, is described as occupying the opposite end of the conscientiousness continuum. The antisocial is impulsive rather than compulsive, illicit rather than licit, and furtive rather than forthright. After clinically comparing the obsessive and antisocial personalities, the present paper invokes evolutionary theory to explain their resultant behavioral, ideological, political and demographic differences.

Opis:
The current research was aimed to investigate the impact of staffs' moral intelligence on their citizenship behavior in state and private banks in the city of Mahabad. For this purpose, moral intelligence, based on the view of Lennick and Keil, is defined in four dimensions of honesty, accountability, compassion and organizational citizenship behavior and is also defined in five dimensions of altruism, conscientiousness, manliness, courtesy and civic behavior in accordance with the view of Organ and Bateman. In this regard, a main hypothesis and five secondary hypotheses have been regulated. The statistical population of the current research was consisted of staffs at state and private banks in the city of Mahabad who accounted for 326 people. The volume of the statistical population was obtained 130 people by using the Cochran formula that were selected based on classified random sampling method from among the statistical population. Tool for gathering information and data included two inventories including Moral Intelligence Inventory with 40 questions and Organizational Citizenship Behavior Inventory with 30 questions, which were provided to the statistical sample after validity and reliability were measured. The questionnaires having been gathered, the resulting information was summarized and classified by using descriptive statistical methods and to test research hypothesis, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Pearson R and regression tests were used. The results from testing the hypotheses indicated that all the research hypotheses were supported, i.e. staffs' moral intelligence were having effects on their organizational citizenship behaviors in state and private banks in the city of Mahabad.

Opis:
Several reports on the potential relationship between immersion experienced by gamers and problematic videogames use (PVG) have recently appeared in the literature but their results often vary. This discrepancy may be due to the fact that games can be chance-dependent (CDG) or chance-independent (CIG). This may also be due to the nature of the relationship between immersion and PVG with a personality trait (conscientiousness), which is an antecedent of both variables. We decided to check whether conscientiousness and PVG relationship will be mediated by immersion and whether this relationship is dependent on the game type. The survey was addressed to board game club members who represented professional players, based on the time spent playing games as well as the ranking criterion. Ninety-four CDG and CIG players responded to the survey. The model proposed in this pilot study showed that conscientiousness explains PVG directly in CIG players, whereas in CDG players this mechanism is mediated by the immersion they experience. This discovery sheds new light on the potential motivational causes of PVG, which depend on both immersion and the chance type of game.

Opis:
The aim of our study was to examine adolescent personality in relation to the adolescent school-related self-concept, in particular to its cognitive aspect according to W.U. Meyer’s conception. In addition to selected personality dimensions, our paper focuses also on gender relations of the adolescent school-related self-concept. The research sample was made up of grammar school and university students (N = 100). The five-factor model of personality NEO-FFI (P.T. Costa, R.R. McCrae) and SCEA-M questionnaire (U. Engler, W.U. Meyer) were used as research tools. The results show a statistically significant relationship between neuroticism and fear of social consequences. There is also a statistically significant relationship between conscientiousness and the self-concept of ability. Statistically significant gender differences in favour of women appear in the dimension of fear of social consequences.

Opis:
Objectives. Evidence increases that cognitive failure may be used to screen for drivers at risk. Until now, most studies have relied on driving learners. This exploratory pilot study examines self-report of cognitive failure in driving beginners and error during real driving as observed by driving instructors. Methods. Forty-two driving learners of 14 driving instructors filled out a work-related cognitive failure questionnaire. Driving instructors observed driving errors during the next driving lesson. In multiple linear regression analysis, driving errors were regressed on cognitive failure with the number of driving lessons as an estimator of driving experience controlled. Results. Higher cognitive failure predicted more driving errors (p < .01) when age, gender and driving experience were controlled in analysis. Conclusions. Cognitive failure was significantly associated with observed driving errors. Systematic research on cognitive failure in driving beginners is recommended.
