Opis:: The historical achievements of International Business Machines gave the foundations for IBM Global Services company, which became a new step in development of IBM Corporation. The biggest rival of IBM Global Services, EDS, generated revenues that were nearly doubled by IGS revenues ($36.6bln) and revenues of the next rival in raw,Accenture, were more than tripled. The market share of IGS was 8,2% at that time and it was the highest percentage among all companies operating in professional computer services industry. In the last quarter of year 2000 IBM Global Services grew around 5%. At that time, the revenues from e-business services begun to grow 70% year over year. In described SWOT analysis positive aspects (strengths and opportunities) prevailed. The most important strengths of IBM Global Services are global position on the market and universalism of the offered services. Main weakness of the company lies in the lack of ability of fast bringing new services to the market. The existence of strong, well-known competitors like Hewlett-Packard and Accenture is the main recognized threat. At corporate level, IBM points in invention and development in terms of information technologies. IBM operates on global market in global industry with ethnocentric strategy. IBM Global Services has the long term objectives: technological leadership, competitive position and profitability. The IGM’s main generic strategy is still differentiation. In the opinion of the author, IBM Global Services provides concentric diversification. Considering the grand strategies, IGS’s management should make its further decisions basing on the ability to maintain the human resources.

Opis:: The paper presents a method of analyzing dependability aspects of service oriented information systems based on functional and dependability modelling. Analysis approach is based on integrating different computer system models into one coherent model suitable for simulation. To simplify integration of the models author propose an automatic solution that is integrated with the tools chosen for system analysis. Analysis is done with a usage of open-source simulation environment that can be easily modified and extended for farther work. Based on the simulation results, with respect to defined dependability and functionality metrics, some alternatives can be chosen in case of system or service failure. The paper presents developed software which implements described methodology and results of analysis for an exemplary business service oriented complex information system.

Opis:: The predicted annual growth of energy consumption in ICT by 4% towards 2020, despite improvements and efficiency gains in technology, is challenging our ability to claim that ICT is providing overall gains in energy efficiency and Carbon Imprint as computers and networks are increasingly used in all sectors of activity. Thus we must find means to limit this increase and preserve quality of service (QoS) in computer systems and networks. Since the energy consumed in ICT is related to system load, ]this paper discusses the choice of system load that offers the best trade-off between energy consumption and QoS.We use both simple queueing models and measurements to develop and illustrate the results. A discussion is also provided regarding future research directions.

Opis:: The requirements for the training of mathematics and computer science teachers to use specialized mathematical software in professional activities are substantiated in the article. Among them: the ability to creatively choose the forms and methods of teaching for the use of specialized software; ability to find non-standard or creative mathematical problems; ability to make an informed choice of specialized software; ability to see possible ways to check the result obtained by the pupil; the ability to eliminate common mistakes when pupils use computer tools, etc. The specialized mathematical software, which is used today in mathematical training of mathematics and computer science teachers in Ukraine, has been specified. The specialized mathematical software which is used today for teaching mathematics in schools of Ukraine is given. The analysis of computer tools used by the teacher in the most common mathematical software is carried out. The most urgent problems faced by mathematics teachers in their professional activities are highlighted. The experiment with ninth-grade pupils proved the positive impact of using dynamic geometry software and appropriate mathematical tools on the level of pupils’ mathematical training, which is reason to talk about the importance of computer science and mathematics pre-service teacher training to involve such tools in professional activities. Prospects for further research in the direction of developing methods for using computer mathematical tools in a research-based learning environment are presented.
W artykule uzasadniono wymagania stawiane kształceniu nauczycieli matematyki i informatyki w kontekście wykorzystania specjalistycznego oprogramowania na kierunku matematycznym w działalności zawodowej. Wśród nich: umiejętność twórczego doboru form i metod nauczania obsługi specjalistycznego oprogramowania; umiejętność znajdowania niestandardowych lub kreatywnych problemów matematycznych; umiejętność dokonania wyważonego wyboru specjalistycznego oprogramowania; możliwość zobaczenia możliwych sposobów sprawdzenia wyniku uzyskanego przez ucznia; umiejętność eliminowania typowych błędów przy korzystaniu z narzędzi komputerowych itp. Doprecyzowano specjalistyczne oprogramowanie kierunku matematycznego, które jest obecnie wykorzystywane w kształceniu matematycznym nauczycieli matematyki i informatyki na Ukrainie. Przedstawiono specjalistyczne oprogramowanie kierunku matematycznego, które jest dziś używane do nauczania matematyki w ukraińskich szkołach. Dokonuje się analizy narzędzi komputerowych wykorzystywanych przez nauczyciela we wspólnym oprogramowaniu kierunku matematycznego. Zwrócono uwagę na najpilniejsze problemy, z którymi borykają się nauczyciele matematyki w swojej działalności zawodowej. W wyniku eksperymentu z uczniami klas 9 wykazano pozytywne uwarunkowanie stosowania dynamicznych układów geometrycznych i odpowiednich narzędzi matematycznych na poziom przygotowania matematycznego uczniów, co jest podstawą do rozmowy o znaczeniu przygotowania przyszłych nauczyciel informatyki i matematyki do wykorzystania takich narzędzi we własnej działalności zawodowej. Przedstawiono perspektywy dalszych badań naukowych w kontekście opracowania metodologii wykorzystania komputerowych narzędzi matematycznych w uczeniu się opartym na badaniach.

Opis:: Fuel consumption measurement itself is a demanding process and it is difficult to determine the exact consumption of a vehicle. Fuel consumption can be determined in various ways. One way to determine consumption is through driving tests. We know several types of driving tests. Nowadays, most vehicles and all new vehicles can provide a wealth of data to the driver directly during vehicle operation. One of them is the data on the consumption of the vehicle also through the on-board computer located in the vehicle. The information provided to the driver may not reflect reality. In most cases, they are inaccurate and do not correspond to reality. Therefore, the subject of the research will be to verify the accuracy of the provided data on vehicle consumption by the on-board computer. The aim of the research will be to determine the extent to which consumption data are true. Vehicle consumption, as well as measurements are performed on one vehicle in every day traffic. This will ensure that it is possible to compare the measured data with each other.

Opis:: Modern technical ship systems very often use information and communication technologies. One of the basic requirements of these systems is ensuring time synchronization that aim is to coordinate clocks of all devices working in a computer network. This requirement results from, among others, the necessity to log events with a unified timestamp. To achieve this goal, most frequently expensive time servers are used. This article presents an easy method of time synchronization, which can serve as a reserve or alternative solution to the methods currently used. That is why a proprietary software has been developed, allowing to expand the functionality of a PC so that it can operate as a time server. A time reference in proposed solution would be provided by a GPS receiver. The developed application allows, with the use of the NMEA protocol, to synchronize the current time with the GPS receiver and then, with the help of the SNTP protocol, to distribute it to all network devices operating on the ship.

Until March 1, 2003, the Secret Service was part of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Opis:: Z ekonomicznego punktu widzenia krytycznym aspektem działalności serwisów usług online jest umiejętność utrzymania klientów. Celem artykułu było zastosowanie modelu warstwowego VIPR (Visual - Interaction - Process - Relation) w odniesieniu do usług handlowych online. Wskaźnikiem zaufania i nawiązywania trwałych relacji były oceny doświadczonych użytkowników serwisów handlowych online (n = 207) uzyskane za pomocą Skali Wiarygodności Internetowych Serwisów Handlowych, która mierzy 8 czynników, takich jak klarowność wizualna, łatwość użycia, interaktywność, prowadzenie użytkownika, rekomendacje, dbałość o klienta, zawartość informacyjna i personalizacja. Czynniki: klarowność wizualna, łatwość użycia, interaktywność oraz zawartość informacyjna tworzyły jedną grupę. Każdy następny czynnik stanowił odrębny element. Dla klientów najmniej ważne dla wzbudzania zaufania były klarowność wizualna i łatwość użycia (wartości podstawowe, obszar indywidualny). Najwyżej oceniano personalizację oraz rekomendacje (wartości dodane, obszar społeczny). Zwłaszcza rekomendacje reprezentują nowe potrzeby użytkowników, które pojawiły się wraz z rozwojem konkurencji na rynku usług online. Pozytywnie zweryfikowano model VIPR. Wskazanie dwóch wymiarów: wartości podstawowych - dodanych oraz obszaru indywidualnego - społecznego daje nowe spojrzenie na interakcję człowiek - komputer.

Opis:: Subject and purpose of work: The article presents the diversity of the use of EU funds for tourism in Poland in the region of Eastern Poland in the years 2014–2020. The focus was on indicating the regional differentiation of the size and type structure of projects. Materials and methods: The information base was data on projects co-financed from EU funds, collected in the National Information System (KSI SIMIK 2014-2020). Results: In all voivodships, both in terms of the number of projects and their values, projects in the field of culture (cultural heritage, cultural institutions, cultural events) definitely dominated. They constituted over 50% of the total number of all projects and 65% of their total value. Conclusions: In the years 2014-2020 tourism was included in the Regional Operational Programs indirectly, which impacted on the nature of implemented projects. Between them dominated projects related to the modernization and preservation of tourism resources, especially cultural projects.

Opis:: The academia of the University of Mysore in India encompasses faculty and research scholars. Both are involved in research, publication and lifelong learning, and faculty members are deeply engaged in assisting students. Besides the print collection, the library users have access to a variety of electronic resources. In the recent past, the librarians have been encouraging a more effective use of e-books, which are web based and downloadable. The library’s collection of electronic books is growing. It is said that ‘the most important development in literature in the world after Guttenberg is the e-book’ [6]. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the usage of e-resources at the University of Mysore. The paper covers demographic characteristics, computer and Internet usage, types of e-books accessed, the purpose of search, and duration of e-books use. E-books provide easy and instant access to the content and are convenient to read and browse. The findings of the survey reveal that the e-books of Springer, Taylor & Francis were used the most. Reference e-books were used very frequently. A lack of awareness together with acquisition costs seem to hinder usage of e-books.
Środowisko akademickie Uniwersytetu of Mysore w Indiach obejmuje wykładowców i uczonych badaczy. Oba środowiska prowadzą badania, wydają publikacje i organizują kształcenie ustawiczne, a pracownicy wydziału są głęboko zaangażowani w pomoc studentom. Oprócz zbiorów dokumentów drukowanych, użytkownicy biblioteki mają dostęp do różnych zasobów elektronicznych. W niedawnej przeszłości bibliotekarze zostali zachęceni do bardziej efektywnego wykorzystania e-książek, które są do pobrania dzięki sieci internetowej. Biblioteczne kolekcje książek elektronicznych powiększają się. Mówi się, że „najważniejszym wydarzeniem w rozwoju literatury na świecie po wynalazku Guttenberga jest e-book” [6]. Celem niniejszego badania była ocena wykorzystania e-źródeł na Uniwersytecie w Mysore. W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę demograficzną, wykorzystanie komputera i Internetu, dostępne rodzaje e-booków oraz cel i okres użytkowania e-książek. E-książki zapewniają łatwy i szybki dostęp do ich zawartości. Wyniki badań wykazują, że bardzo często użytkowane były e-książki wydawnictwa Springer, Taylor & Francis. Często wykorzystywano także źródła informacji o e-bookach. Brak świadomości wraz z kosztami akwizycji zdają się utrudniać korzystanie z e-książek.
