Opis:
DP vessels have a possibility to maintain their position or heading by using thrusters and propellers but the heave compensation is not possible that way. Heave compensation is a technique used to reduce the influence of waves on a hull or only a part of an equipment inside the hull. There are two types of heave compensation: passive (PHC) and active (AHC). Due to limit, the energy demand the hybrid heave compensation (HHC) is often in use. The offshore activities needed the compensation to some extend (level) could be drilling, handling loads in cranes or pipe laying. Different types of Heave Compensator Systems (HCS) are used to compensate for these movements. Safety of these offshore activities is so important that the area of power (using external energy) and non-power (using only the energy of wave movement) drives are quickly developed. The heave compensators allow increasing the weather window and better making use of the offshore vessels. The expected level of decreasing the vessel heave in compare to work equipment is from 5 to 50 times. Active compensation by hydraulic motor needs its active run for motion compensation and the system ought to be equipped with accelerometer senses of ship movement. Computing algorithms and the choice of control method are principal in HCS performance. In the article, it was shown examples of different types of compensators with their advantages and disadvantages and their utilization.

In Poland, patients’ rights are protected by the instruments included in the Act on Patient Rights and the Patient Ombudsman. This law provides for a procedure for dealing with medical negligence claims, which are referred to as medical event. Other types of proceedings related to a claim arising from a medical error include civil proceedings, proceedings relating to the professional liability of a person performing a medical profession and criminal proceedings in a criminal case. As a rule, it can be concluded that the initiation of one of the proceedings excludes the possibility of using another form of applying for a claim.

Opis:
The article is conceptual and harmonizing in character. It is a voice in the discussion about the axiological foundations of the creation of compensation systems. It is based on the idea that justice is one of the most important characteristics of compensation, one which determines whether that compensation is positively assessed. Compensation that is seen to be fair is an indicator that an employer treats the worker honestly and considers him a partner which, in turn, acts as a strong motivational factor. The article contains the results of analyses of philosophical concepts of justice presented by Rawls and Nozick and indicates the implications of these theories in the practice of compensation management.
Artykuł ma charakter koncepcyjny i syntetyzujący. Stanowi głos w dyskusji nad aksjologicznymi fundamentami kształtowania systemów wynagrodzeń. Opiera się na założeniu, że jedną z najważniejszych cech wynagrodzenia decydujących o pozytywnej ocenie dokonanej przez pracowników jest sprawiedliwość. Wynagrodzenie oceniane jako sprawiedliwe stanowi wskaźnik uczciwego i partnerskiego traktowania przez pracodawcę i ma silną moc motywującą. Artykuł zawiera wyniki analizy filozoficznych koncepcji sprawiedliwości J. Rawlsa oraz R. Nozicka oraz wskazuje implikacje tych teorii dla praktyki zarządzania wynagrodzeniami.

This paper presents the fundamental properties and dependences describing the UPQC (Unified Power Quality Conditioner) arrangements. The UPQC devices simultaneously permit to fulfill the following functions: voltage and current harmonics compensation, network voltage and load current symmetrization as well as network voltage stabilization and power flow control. The selected results of the experimental investigations conducted on the small power laboratory model have been described. Applied method for DC link capacity selection was talked over in details and confirmed with experimental results. Results of experimental investigations, including operation of the UPQC arrangement in case of thyristor rectifier load were also introduced.

Purpose: The paper presents a review of the latest research on executive compensation and indicates the main problems and weaknesses of the existing solutions as well as trends for the future. Methodology: In the analysis executive compensation constitutes a crucial element of corporate �governance. The analysis is based on a review of the latest studies and research on the effectiveness of executive compensation referring to its size, structure and disclosure. Findings: The paper presents the latest fi ndings in the practice of executive compensation and it points to the extension of the period of time giving rise to the payment of cash bonuses, the introduction of a range of different indicators, based on which executives are evaluated, simplifying compensation packages, the implementation of deferred payments, the introduction of the “say on pay” rule and clawbacks. Practical implications: The analysis points out the main weaknesses of executive compensation, which were particularly emphasized in research studies on companies affected by the fi nancial crisis. The paper presents a wide range of suggested solutions that could be implemented in the fi eld of executive compensation in order to provide for a better alignment of the interests of executives with those of shareholders and for the increase in shareholder value. Originality/value: The paper attempts to identify the most severe corporate governance problems with reference to executive compensation and to confront them with research results as well as the recently proposed and implemented reforms and recommendations.

The executive compensation issue continues to cause protest due to the increasing number of cases of an unjustifiably high level of pay. The main conflict arises from the misalignment of interests between the short-term expectations of the manager and long-term needs of the shareholders. Since there are no universal rules on how to price the executive performance companies reach for different means of establishing the CEO’s compensation and ascertaining manager’s commitment towards maintaining a company’s value. The issue becomes more complex once the compensation rules are not a direct effect of the market power game but are additionally restricted by government. The aim of the paper is to discuss corporate government policies introduced in Israel and their impact on executive compensation level and structure. Israel is amongst those countries that partially regulate CEO compensation and thus the Israeli experience can add to the understanding of the effectiveness of modern corporate governance.

Punishment with imprisonment and the security measureof detention on remand, are among the most severe sanctions and convictions provided by the albanian criminal legislation. The unjust serving of such measures or punishments implies serious psychological and economic consequences for both the convicted person and his/her family members. Similar to the infringement of any right and freedom, the unjust infringement of the right to liberty, induces the obligation to return the person in the previous state and to provide compensation for related consequences. Besides the right to effective remedy, the international human rights acts provide, specifically, for the right to compensation of the person in cases of an unlawful arrest or detention, as well as in the case of serving an unjust punishment as a result of the miscarriage of justice. In both hereof mentioned cases, these acts acknowledge the right to compensation for unjust imprisonment, while leaving it to the member states to establish a special mechanism under the domestic legislation which would enable actual fulfillment of such right for the citizens of the said country. This paper is an attempt to present an overview of the Albanian legislation regarding the mechanism established toward the effective implementation of the right to compensation, in the case of decisions of the respective state institutions causing the unlawful or unjust imprisonment, from the point of view of respective international obligations.

We have developed a probe of a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) magnetometer for measurement of a fluctuation of an AVF cyclotron field. The stability of the magnetic field of the JAERI AVF cyclotron, measured with the NMR probe, was within 1 × 10-5. A field-measurement accuracy of the order of 1 × 10-6 was achieved using a set of field-compensation coils and optimizing the probe position to obtain enough homogeneity of the magnetic field around the probe for measuring the cyclotron field with a high gradient. To eliminate a major bottleneck in the field measurement inside the cyclotron, the probe was specially produced with the cable shielding against RF noises and proper materials applied.

In this paper a cross-shaped isolator consisting of cuboidal magnets and a cylindrical isolator are compared by resonance frequency to volume ratio and shape. Both isolators are capable of obtaining a low resonance frequency, i.e. 0.15 Hz and 0.01 Hz for the cross and cylinder, respectively. The volume of both isolators is comparable, only the shape is different, resulting in a tall structure with a small footprint for the cross and a flat with a large diameter cylindrical structure. A sensitivity analysis shows that due to the large amount of magnets, the cross-shaped isolator is less sensitive to manufacturing tolerances.

This paper presents the compensation tasks performed by a shunt active power filter, including compensation of harmonic currents, reactive power, and an unbalanced load current. The paper demonstrates novel control of the shunt active power filter in a closed-loop system. The control algorithm was verified by performing simulations and compared the simulated results with those obtained in an open-loop control system. All simulations were conducted in the PLECS program using a control algorithm written in C programming language.

A dynamic weighing system or a checkweigher is an automated inspection system that measures the weight of objects while transferring them between processes. In our previous study, we developed a new electromagnetic force compensation (EMFC) weighing cell using magnetic springs and air bearings. This weighing cell is free from flexure hinges which are vulnerable to shock and fatigue and also eliminates the resonance characteristics and implements a very low stiffness of only a few N/m due to the nature of the Halbach array magnetic spring. In this study, we implemented a checkweigher with the weighing cell including a loading and unloading conveyor to evaluate its dynamic weighing performances. The magnetic springs are optimized and re-designed to compensate for the weight of a weighing conveyor on the weighing cell. The checkweigher has a weighing repeatability of 23 mg (1σ) in static situation. Since there is no low-frequency resonance in our checkweigher that influences the dynamic weighing signal, we could measure the weight by using only a notch filter at high conveyor speeds. To determine the effective measurement time, a dynamic weighing process model is used. Finally, the proposed checkweigher meets Class XIII of OIML R51-1 of verification scale e 0.5 g at a conveyor speed of up to 2.7 m/s.
