Opis:
The parties empowered to lodge a constitutional complaint under the Polish model are defined in Article 79(1) of the Polish Constitution, stating that: “Everyone whose constitutional freedoms or rights have been infringed, shall have the right to appeal to the Constitutional Tribunal (...). The above quoted article is considered to have the fundamental significance in the process of identification of the parties entitled to lodge a constitutional complaint, so in other words, provides a clear answer to the question who can effectively lodge such a complaint in order for the adequate proceedings to be officially opened (however – which is explained in detail in this article – having fulfilled certain specified objective conditions).

Opis:
Although migration has always been a timeless and volatile phenomenon, modern transnational movements of people have become a dominant topic of interest by constantly acquiring new characteristics that modify their evolutionary process. Europe is a geographical area that has been significantly affected by recent changes as a result of the evolution of migration flows of the last 30 years. The urgent need to initially understand and later implement evidence-based policies in order to sufficiently manage the migration phenomenon can be considered as the basic spark that led to the scientific blast of the 21st century, focusing on the gradual development of migration studies. One of the most notable efforts of the scientific community was the use of the comparison method to examine, understand, and in some cases even forecast the characteristics of specific migration case studies, thereby forming the backbone of comparative migration research in general. Greece, due to its geographical position, has been unintentionally positioned, many times, inside the so called “ring of fire”, as result of multiple factors and disastrous events that evolved mainly in its neighbouring countries, forcing massive, irregular migration flows to its external borders. The outbreak of the Albanian exodus in the early 1990s and the recent refugee flows of 2015 can be described as two major migration crises that have occurred in Greek's contemporary history, making their comparison a fruitful example of the potential capabilities of the above-mentioned method, contributing to a holistic study of the migration phenomenon in Greece.

Birds are a rich source for metaphors in paremias that are known to be a significant rhetorical force in various modes of communication. This article deals with the repertoire of ornithological proverbial texts utilized in the Soviet leader’s public speeches and memoirs, as well as in their English translations. The metaphor human is bird, in which there are various grounds of comparison, is explored. The peculiarities of using avian metaphors in the context of the original and the ways of their translation into English are scrutinized as well. The analysis of the material shows that the main features, shared by the Target (human) and the Source (bird species), are grounded on physiological characteristics and behavioral traits, having a negative slant. The equivalent and literal translations are applied as the main methods of rendition. Of particular interest are the metaphorical “animalistic metamorphoses” found in translation.

The aim of this article is to discern the crux of SME sector social responsibility in developing countries. An attempt is made to identify, empirically, the ethical standards subscribed to by small firms in Poland and to compare them with the standards of small firms in the UK. The methodology of empirical analysis of the ethical standards of Polish entrepreneurs running small businesses was modelled on Laura Spence’s research on the priorities, practices and ethics of small firms in the UK (Spence 2000). This analysis has revealed certain similarities and significant differences in the way CSR is perceived by Polish and British entrepreneurs. British entrepreneurs manifest a higher degree of awareness with regard to the issue of social responsibility and are more strongly motivated by their external environment to take up social responsibility issues than Polish ones.

Introduction and objective. A reduction in incidences of peri-surgical complications due to infections is achieved by antibiotic prophylaxis The objective of the study was to assess the usefulness of gentamycin-containing collagen implants (GCCI) in the treatment of patients with osteitis and osteomyelitis of the craniofacial skeleton. Materials and method. The retrospective study included 103 patients with osteitis and osteomyelitis. 54 patients were treated intra-operatively with GCCI (Garamycin, EusaPharma, Europe). 49 patients were treated according to standard procedures. Light microscopy and in vitro culture techniques were applied for bacteria specific identification, and to investigate the resistance of detected microbiota to antibiotics. Patients received one dose of antibiotic pre-operatively. Post-operative antibiotic treatment was administered individually, according to clinical course and microbiological tests. The patients were followed-up on days 3, 7 and 14 after discharge for local complications; radiographic follow-up was performed 3, 6 and 12 months after surgery. Results. The course of post-operative antibiotic therapy was shorter in GCCI patients than in the control group (median 1 vs. 7 days); they also required shorter hospitalization (median 3 vs. 4 days). Implantation of GCCI significantly reduced the incidence of local complications (OR 0.30, 95%CI 0.11–0.83, p<0.0001), independently of the use of postoperative antibiotic therapy. On follow-up after 3–12 months, all patients presented with good soft tissue and bone healing. Conclusions. The results of this comparative study advocate the use of GCCI in osteomyelitis of various origin in oral and maxillofacial surgery, as they seemed to reduce the incidence of local complications, shorten antibiotic administration time and hospital stay.

A study was done on the feeding behaviour, development indices, and biochemical response of 4th instar larvae of Spodoptera littoralis in which seven cotton genotypes were used: Giza86, Giza88, Giza92, 10229 × Giza 86, H10, Suvin, and Karshenseki. Castor bean leaves were used as the control. All the tested cotton genotypes decreased the feeding behavior of S. littoralis larvae in terms of consumption percentages, consumption rate (CR), growth rates (GR), efficiency of conversion of ingested and digested food (ECI and ECD), approximate digestibility (AD), and feeding deterrence (FDI) compared to the control. Additionally, all the tested cotton varieties prolonged the time taken for larval and pupal duration and reduced both the pupation percentages and the weight of the resulting pupae, as compared to the control. Giza86 recorded the lowest values of both larval growth index and fitness (7.31 and 1.05, respectively) while the genotype Suvin recorded the lowest standardised growth index (0.020) more than other genotypes and the control that gave 10.16, 1.53, and 0.032, respectively. There was a significant inhibition in the level of both total soluble protein and total lipids, and activities of amylase and the trehalase enzymes in all the tested varieties, compared to that found in the control.

This study compares families’ adaptation to childhood deafness in China and the Czech Republic. A sample of 160 families with deaf children were studied; 107 from China, 53 from the Czech Republic. The results showed that (1) overall, both family groups demonstrated resilience when facing the risk of childhood deafness by accepting the children’s deafness, functioning normally, and expecting a good future for their children; (2) Chinese families and Czech families did not demonstrate significant differences in the overall outcome of positive adaptation but displayed apparent differences in adaptiv patterns; (3) Chinese families were impacted more severely than Czech families by childhood deafness due to the lack of adequate social support, but cohesive family relationships and more positive changes in family belief such as optimism, altruism and tolerance toward differences might mediate the adverse impact caused by children’s deafness.

Modern cities are focused on the implementation of the assumptions of sustainable transport development. They invest in modern solutions and intelligent technologies that improve the mobility of residents and reduce energy consumption and pollution emitted by means of transport. This article deals with issues of smart urban mobility and carsharing, in particular, as one of the examples of the implementation of sustainable transport policy. The objective of this article is a comparative analysis of the pace of development of the carsharing markets in Poland and Germany. The analysis is carried out using statistical and comparative analysis methods. In addition, for a complete presentation of the problem raised, a literature analysis is performed. The research area covers two countries, Poland and Germany, from which ten cities for each are selected for analysis. In addition, to achieve the assumed objective, we also present the basic assumptions of smart mobility and solutions used in cities, and then determine the increase in the number of cars driving in the carsharing system. In addition, the factors influencing the change in transport patterns of urban residents are analyzed, and the importance of modern communication technologies in the development of carsharing systems is emphasized. The results of the analysis can be used as a tool to support the decisions of city authorities in the field of transportation management and, in particular, the implementation of carsharing systems. They also present the dependencies of the spread of this solution in a given urban space. They indicate the largest problems that may affect the introduction of this solution as an element of the city’s transportation system.

Opis:
Cerebrovascular diseases are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Unfortunately, Bulgaria leads most countries in its incidence of stroke. Furthermore, a substantial number of Bulgarian patients post-stroke present with persisting communication disorders, especially aphasia. The main purpose of the present study is to conduct an evidence-based theoretical review of leading international guidelines for treatment and rehabilitation of adult stroke patients. In particular, this theoretical overview compares the current Bulgarian guidelines with those developed by the United States of America, Europe, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. The Bulgarian guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases strongly recommends pharmacological treatment, which is commensurate with international standards. Nationally, a range of different language tests are currently used in post-stroke aphasia.
Znajduje to odbicie w standardach przyjętych w innych krajach. Istotną funkcję pełni także szeroka gama testów w różnych językach stosowana w leczeniu afazji poudarowej.

Maintaining clean and pristine nature is the key to the use of super clean coal (SCC) for coal-based materials or energy combustion. Herein, SCC is prepared by a new water-only cyclone method, and compared the surface characteristics with the SCC products obtained by conventional chemical deashing method. The results indicate that: FTIR analysis revealed that the chemical method changed the original functional group of coal; BET analysis revealed that the SCC products prepared by the water-only method maintained the micropore volume of the raw coal and yielded a uniform and concentrated distribution of pore sizes, however, the chemical method destroying the original pore structure in the coal; SEM-EDS analysis indicated that the surface of SCC particles that were deashed using the water-only cyclone method was smooth and neat, whereas those obtained using the chemical method were seriously corroded, had a rough surface, and the SCC particles were prone to acid residues and precipitates. This study opens an innovative, simple, and clean method for the preparation of SCC, which further expands and enhances the potential application value of SCC.

This study attempts to characterize terminology unification in the European Union legislation, regarding both content and form. It analyzes terms related to the thematic field of environmental law in four official EU languages: two Slavic (Bulgarian and Polish) and two non-Slavic (Modern Greek and English). Different types of relations between the languages under comparison suggest possible directions for further comparative study. The comparison aims to identify differences and similarities in the componential structure, formal-grammatical structure, word formation structure, form variantivity, origin and formal status. The study may also testify to the presence of linguistic convergence processes in the multilingual European Union.

The culture of inquiry in moral thought had already introduced the method of eliciting judgement about images and stories through open-ended questions in the first third of the 20th century. In our research, we investigated the moral reasoning of students. We sought to answer how pupils in public, Catholic, and Waldorf schools judge moral dilemmas in fictional stories. Students’ (N=1144) responses to single-choice selective closed-ended (yes or no?) and open-ended (why?) questions about the reason for their choice were used to judge the decisions of the characters in three realistic, believable, age-appropriate stories. In the first story, taking unlawful advantage was accepted most by public school students and least by Catholic school students. In the second story, the actors’ solution method was rejected mainly by Waldorf students, with social justification. In the third story, there was no significant difference between the perceptions of the school models’ pupils, with a similar pattern of rejection. The results are only valid for Hungary.
