Opis:
This research paper addresses one of the core challenges small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are facing, but which is typically overlooked in scientific research. The trend towards stronger globalization requires SMEs to also operate in a more international environment, which influences both their internal and their external collaborations. This paper presents examples of both internal and external collaboration approaches and argues how digital technologies can support them. A theoretical framework which can be a baseline for future research on the topic is deducted.

Opis:
Background: Despite the large number of studies on various aspects and forms of supply chain collaboration, the issue is still classified as a relatively poorly recognized research problem in the logistics field. This article is crucial in the discussion on the further directions for the development of cross-organizational collaboration. The main objective of these studies was to assess the readiness of companies to start and develop vertical and horizontal collaboration within logistics. Methods: The research problem was analysed on the basis of primary and secondary data sources. Primary research was conducted among manufacturing and trade companies as well as logistics service providers. In the statistical description the Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon test were used. It was assumed that the result was statistically significant for p<0.05. Results: The results show a high readiness of the companies surveyed for further vertical integration and two variables had a statistically significant effect on the assessment of the respondents, i.e. the current level of integration and the role the respondents played in the supply chain. As far as horizontal cooperation is concerned, the readiness of the companies surveyed for further integration was slightly above the average level. Compared to vertical collaboration, the difference between the average rating was statistically highly significant. Conclusions: The study indicates the need for the companies surveyed to be involved in logistics collaboration. However, it should be emphasized that the respondents prefer collaboration with companies which do not operate at the same level in the supply chain. As far as horizontal collaboration is concerned, the results can be explained by a number of concerns expressed by the respondents regarding the behavior of potential collaborators. Apparently, in this case, an individual approach with a competitive attitude dominates among the respondents.
Wstęp: Pomimo dużej liczby badań poświęconych różnym aspektom i formom współpracy zachodzącej w łańcuchu dostaw, zagadnienie to nadal zaliczane jest do stosunkowo słabo rozpoznanych problemów badawczych. W odniesieniu do współpracy horyzontalnej otrzymane wyniki można tłumaczyć licznymi obawami respondentów dotyczącymi zachowań potencjalnych kolaborantów. Najprawdopodobniej, w tym przypadku, wśród respondentów dominuje podejście indywidualistyczne z nastawieniem rywalizacyjnym.

Opis:
This paper argues that for both creators of a choreomusical work, a collaborative creative process must be worthwhile, enjoyable, or contribute something unique to motivate artists to collaborate at a time where, to some degree, technology negates the necessity to do so. Therefore, the scholar interested in choreomusical relationships should also be interested in collaborative, creative methods. The research considers cross-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary working processes in music and dance in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries to enquire into the ways that choreomusical relationships have developed for composers and choreographers working collaboratively. It asks whether there are factors which should be considered in a collaborative working method between composer and choreographer to achieve a co-creative endeavor which is satisfactory for both parties. Satisfactory, co-creative results are defined by the satisfaction of both collaborators throughout the creative process, regardless of the end result. These questions were addressed both through historical analysis of collaborations within contemporary dance, and exploration of how choreomusical collaboration can be successful or unsuccessful in terms of co-creation and the satisfaction of each party within current artistic practice. Informed practical research and the use of journals coincide with a grounded theory approach: through analysis of both sets of data, factors which help and hinder choreomusical collaboration in terms of co-creative approaches were identified. The results of this analysis are presented in a spectrum model of possible working relationships between composer and choreographer; this paper applies this to case studies identified within the research in terms of cognitive innovation.

Opis:
Universities are one of the key actors within national and regional innovation systems. The nature of university-industry collaboration has changed during the last decades and it varies across countries and regions. Different factors determine the interaction among both organizations, from those related to the industrial structure of the territory to others related to institutional and legal frameworks. In this paper we aim at adding to the understanding of this process based on the comparison between two European regions, Apulia in Italy and Galicia in Spain. Our results show that a progressive transition from a separated to a more integrated approach has occurred at the relational framework affecting universities and industry in both regions. Public policies, particularly from the regional level, have been relevant for promoting university-industry collaboration in Galicia and Apulia. Nevertheless, there still remain cultural and institutional barriers, both from the academy and business sphere, which impede a closer and more fruitful interaction. Besides, the poor innovative culture of traditional industries which dominate in both regions, might affect university-industry interaction. However, an adjustment of the university offer in terms of research is also needed as we observe that collaboration is too much biased by the university scientific and departmental specialization and too little by local and regional industrial specialization.

Opis:
Background: Despite their relatively low economic potential and modest scale of activity of each single unit, en masse small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) create a major part of real GDP in all developed countries. Moreover, having very rarely own R&D backup facilities, SMEs are mostly strikingly open for new technical and technological solutions, perceiving innovations as a challenge and as an opportunity as well. Searching for such solutions, also in processes of implementation, they have to collaborate with a number of partners from various sectors, having diverse legal status, business culture and approach to cooperation. Frequently collaboration appears to be a source of problems, even threats. Methods: The paper consists of a literature review, identification of collaboration risk areas and - as a separate part - presentation and discussion of selected results of own research conducted late 2016 by the authors within a group of over 300 small and medium technological enterprises (SMTEs), chosen according to the defined filters. The aim of research was to analyse the collaboration environment of SMTEs, their approach to collaboration and perception of collaboration problems and risks. Results: Analysis of uncertainty areas within SMTEs' environment and modes of operation allowed to identify a selection of risks which may result from collaboration, divided into two divisions: those having general character, which may be observed in each SME, and those being SMTE specific, adjoint to acquiring of new technologies, cooperation with scientific R&D institutions, technology transfer etc. The survey - considering the strong specific features of SMTEs - delivered some interesting informations on characteristics of sources of new technologies, collaboration directions and relations with partners, also collaboration risk factors and exposure. Conclusions: The paper shows a variety of problems referring to SMTEs' collaboration with partners in technology acquisition and implementation. Having difficulties in contacts with big enterprises and institutions, they prefer own solutions and cooperation with other SMEs. This obviously imposes some limitations on the choice of partners and availability of solutions, making relations more complex and difficult. From the survey results also that SMTEs do not regard vulnerability and exposure on collaboration risk as a major problem in their activities, however some risk factors - from legal ones to soft competencies of partners. Further research could refer to the low effectiveness of collaboration between SMTEs and institutions which are regarded as a natural source of innovative solutions and those which exist to support that sector.
Wstęp: Pomimo relatywnie niskiego potencjału ekonomicznego i umiarkowanej skali działalności każdej pojedynczej firmy, w swojej masie małe i średnie przedsiębiorstwa (MSP) we wszystkich rozwiniętych krajach wytwarzają znaczącą część realnego Produktu Krajowego Brutto (PKB).

Rapid technological development in recent years has contributed to numerous changes in many areas of life, including education and communication. Establishing interdisciplinary collaboration brings many benefits, it is, however, often associated with numerous problems and inconveniences, as well as the need for constant improvement, lifelong learning, professional development (CPD) and finding an effective way of information transfer. Living in a constant rush makes the logical order of information transfer become a key aspect, as more and more operations are being done chaotically, using multiple online tools. Although collaboration happens to be complicated even for colleagues specializing in different aspects of the same profession, establishing cooperation between specific groups of interdisciplinary specialists, such as engineers and physicians, has a significant impact on modern diagnostics and medical treatment development. Based on some selected case studies investigated at Gdańsk University of Technology andMedical University of Gdańsk, supported by an overview of available education and collaboration tools, a solution based on the Moodle LMS platform has been proposed, implemented, and analyzed.

Internetworked e-Work is enabling new channels in cyber space for collaboration among physical and cyber agents, e.g., humans, robots, software agents. Research on Collaborative Control Theory (CCT) indicates that building and augmenting the Collaborative Intelligence (CI) of participants in cyber-physical networks can provide better support for achieving their individual and common goals. In spite of its rising significance and popularity, however, no clear and precise definition and universal quantitative measure has been proposed for the CI. In this article, we first formalize the CI by suggesting a formal definition, based on the definitions of its elements - collaboration and intelligence. We then propose a quantitative measure for the CI, adapted from the universal intelligence measure. For illustration, we analyze three recent collaborative e-Work studies at three different scales: (1) Telerobotenabled computer supported collaborative design; (2) Collaborative product line control in supply networks; (3) Demand and capacity sharing in multi-enterprise collaboration. From these case studies, common advantages such as work efficiency, network robustness and stability, service level, resource utilization, and collaboration cost are observed, analyzed, and translated into formal CI measures. Results indicate significant impacts of CI on the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of collaborative activities in emerging e-Work networks.

There has been a continuously increasing focus and discussion on interdisciplinary collaboration in primary care, across various settings and in different forums, during the past few years. Interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration should be a cornerstone of daily practice and context-relevant research. We considered it important for this manuscript to attempt to address some of the key issues linked to the recognised need for competence-based training, focusing on interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration, so as to promote and enhance context-relevant research in primary care. This article provides a general introduction and an overview of this topic, along with some key concepts and operational definitions. These key definitions and their interrelated nature are examined in detail, including those of practice-based research network, patient-centred primary care research, and interdisciplinary partnership for research. Furthermore, this paper outlines the reasons for the strong focus on composition and the development of strategies to enhance the research capacity of interdisciplinary partnerships throughout training. Workforce training, retention and academic collaboration are considered, with a particular focus on primary care, and existing interprofessional relationships and perceptions thereof. Organizational aspects influencing relationships and practice are considered along with their contribution in terms of practice, research and discourse. Finally, conclusions and recommendations, formed under the prism of rapidly changing population needs, person-centred values and the imperative need of bringing innovation to the patient in an effective and efficient manner, are presented for further discussion.

Research background: Cooperation within the public and the private sectors is one of the conditions for a tourist region to achieve a competitive advantage, and it is one of the most important aspect for building a regional tourist brand. Research studies often raise the issue of tourism cooperation; however, there are few papers undertaking this topic in the context of place branding. The issue of benefits and barriers of this type of cooperation seen from the perspective of the involved stakeholders is rarely the sole object of research and is often presented indirectly or implicitly. Purpose of the article: The aim of the paper is to identify the benefits and barriers of cooperation seen by the local government and other representatives of regional tourism organization in the process of developing a regional brand. Methods: To achieve the aim of the paper, the authors conducted a case study of a region, specifically Podlaskie Voivodship in Poland. This case study involved individual in-depth interviews conducted among representatives of organizations - members of the Regional Tourism Organization. Findings & Value added: The findings of this study contribute to a better understanding of cooperation between tourism entities in the process of regional place branding. The authors established a conceptual framework for systematization of benefits and barriers of cooperation as seen by regional stakeholders. The benefits were grouped into the following categories: economic, organizational, marketing and social; and the barriers included economic, organizational, socio-cultural and political determinants.

Tunisia is a growing economy and in the midst of social, political, economic, technological and epidemiological transition. As a developing economy, Tunisia encounters related concerns in their healthcare sector. Opportunities include the mitigation of risks associated with counterfeit medicines including vaccines (“drugs”). Moreover, significant issues include drug availability and wastage, a fragmented healthcare information system. Overall, these issues are compounded by a lack of collaboration between healthcare stakeholders in setting priorities and moving the sector towards a patient-focused model of healthcare and preventative medicine. Many of these issues may be suited to the adoption of new technologies such as Blockchain and multiple case studies will be outlined within the scope of this paper. The present study aims to address the current issues and challenges pertaining to the healthcare sector in Tunisia and to contextualize the role of new technologies in providing better patient care, improved financial management and improved patient safety.

Theoretical Framework
Opis:
Cooperation in logistics is widely recognised as one of the core challenges for the next future. In this context, horizontal collaboration is believed to be one of the innovative solutions to effectively tackle the growing logistic challenges from both, environmental and economic points of view. This innovative topic is quickly gaining momentum but the literature in the field is still in its infancy. As a consequence, a methodological tool to support project and implementation of successful horizontal partnership is still not available. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive framework based on an extensive literature review of both, scholars and practitioners. The proposed tool is based on an incremental perspective, according to which mutual trust among partners is developed through continuous collaboration. More specifically, three steps are proposed: operational, tactical and strategic. For each of them a coherent couple of aims and shared assets is defined.

Opis:
This study presents an experiment aimed at the design of short learning courses in the context of LAMS, using a number of specific context-free collaboration design patterns implemented within LAMS. In fact, 25 Prospective Computer Engineers (PCEs) participated in this experiment. The analysis of the data shows that PCEs fully used these context free collaboration patterns - mostly realized in combination - and designed interesting sequences of learning activities. PCEs also used most of the tools provided within LAMS. However, PCEs were presented with difficulties in integrating collaboration strategies with thinking dimensions in terms of communication, decision making, concept formation, problem solving and inquiry based learning.

Opis:
Wiki has proved extensively that it is an innovative technology situated among other so-cial network applications, because it enables its users to develop web content collaboratively, thereby making it open to all online users. The pedagogical use of Wiki is still in early stages; for this reason a lot of academic research has highlighted the lack of investigation into the pe-dagogical use of Wiki as a tool for collaborative learning. This paper investigates Wiki by fo-cusing on its advantages and disadvantages for the learning process, while highlighting how Wiki moderators can contribute by embedding Wiki successfully into the learning process.
