Opis:
The purpose of the study was to compare the visuospatial decision-making error scores related to the perception of biological motion of individuals categorized as fi eld dependent or fi eld independent. A sample of 69 participants aged 18-27 years (M = 21.91, SD = 2.39) that included 33 males and 36 females completed the experiment. Cognitive style was assessed using the Group Embedded Figure Test. Perception of biological motion was evaluated using two different point-light stimuli developed from video images of a ballet dancer’s performance of a correct and incorrect turn in the fi fth position. The results showed that individuals classifi ed as fi eld independent made signifi cantly fewer visuospatial processing errors. The fi ndings are considered and discussed in relation to theoretical perspectives associated with both cognitive processing and cognitive style.

Opis:
The study is trying to use ATS (Affective Tutoring System) with emotional calculating technology in the activity of the shell education program. The result is used to study the academic achievement of students with different cognitive styles and system usability. There were 61 fifth-grade children from two different classes participating in this experiment. Every child had to do GEFT (Group Figure-Embedded Test) and academic achievement pre-test before they started the ATS. Then students engaged in ATS learning. Academic achievement post-test was done and the System Usability Scale for Learning Questionnaire after they finished the ATS. The experiment yielded the following results: (1) Learning with ATS not only can give learners an excellent feeling of system usability, but also help learners to promote academic achievement more effectively. (2) According to the system usability and academic achievement, the Field-independent learners were acting better than the Field-dependent learners.

Opis:
In recent years, specialist literature has particularly focused on the understanding of the modes of psychological adaptation to organic pathologies. A number of close investigations within the fields of medical and health psychology have been devoted to the analysis of situations characterised by a state of chronicity of organic pathology. Relying on the data deriving from such studies, the different authors tend to point out that illnesses represent a threat to the subject's psychophysical and relational integrity, thus constituting as a source of frustration and anxiety. Researchers belonging to different theoretical approaches raise a number of questions as to the role of personality and/or the subjective mode to react to tough, stressful, unexpected, negative situations, such as the emergence of a severe physical illness. Current research approaches essentially intend to explain the individual differences in the reactivity to negative stimuli by analysing the interactions between situational attributes and personality dispositions (for instance, trait anxiety).

The research study presents the results of observations on the relation of cognitive style adaptation-innovation, creativity levels, as well as traditionally understood intelligence and capacity factors of personality. Differences between adaptors and innovators are observed in relation to selected personality factors. A comparison of cognitive style among our candidates of teaching and other population files in the world is interested, too.

Opis:
Globalization, rapid development of technologies and ever-changing surrounding environment determine the operation of modern organizations. Employees’ competences, as well as their willingness for constant improvement, gain significance in such a context. The present paper discusses skills of innovative companies’ employees and their learning styles in view of age and sex. The objective of the study was to identify and assess the influence of various independent features characterizing the employees upon their skills and learning styles. Research results enable recommendations for HR departments’ employees to be made as regards management of diverse teams in particular (especially as far as age and sex are concerned).
Globalizacja, gwałtowny rozwój technologii i nieustanne zmiany w otoczeniu determinują funkcjonowanie współczesnych organizacji.

Opis:
The choice of leadership style demonstrated by people in managerial positions is conditioned by numerous factors and specific organisational situations. However, every manager has an individual inclination to act in a consistent way, which in science is referred to with the term leadership style. These personal tendencies are to a large extent determined by personality, therefore, it is worth considering the dimension of managers’ cognitive functioning. The “ME as manager” construct is a cognitive representation that creates certain tendencies which are visible in a manager’s working style and the resulting effectiveness of their actions.

Opis:
Identification of learning styles supports Adaptive Educational Hypermedia Systems compiling and presenting tutorials custom in cognitive characteristics of each individual learner. This work addresses the issue: identifying the learning style of students, following the Kolb’s learning cycle. To this purpose, we propose a three-layers Fuzzy Cognitive Map (FCM) in conjunction with a dynamic Hebbian rule for learning styles recognition. The form of FCMs is designed by humans who determine its weighted interconnections among concepts. But the human factor may not be as reliable as it should be. Thus, a FCM model of the system allowing the adjustment of its weights using additional learners’ characteristics such as the Learning Ability Factors. In this article, two consecutively interconnected FCM (in the form of a three layer FCM) are presented. The schema’s efficiency has been tested and compared to known results after a fine-tuning of the weights of the causal interconnections among concepts. The simulations results of training the process system verify the effectiveness, validity and advantageous characteristics of those learning techniques for FCMs. The online recognition of learning styles by using threelayer Fuzzy Cognitive Map improves the accuracy of recognition obtained using Bayesian Networks that uses quantitative measurements of learning style taken from statistical samples. This improvement is due to the fuzzy nature of qualitative characterizations (such as learning styles), and the presence of intermediate level nodes representing Learning Ability Factors. Such factors are easily recognizable characteristics of a learner to improve adjustment of weights in edges with one end in the middle-level nodes. This leads to the establishment of a more reliable model, as shown by the results given by the application to a test group of students.
