Dynamic characteristics for three types of railgun constructions were simulated and measured in this work. The simplest construction is the iron-less (IL) railgun, while the two other ones (IC and ICPM) have an iron-core. The iron-core permanent magnet (ICPM) railgun additionally has permanent magnets. To compare their characteristics, similar dimensions of the rails and iron cores were adopted, and the same power supply system was used. Numerical magnetic field analyses and our analytical models have been used to determine the electromagnetic parameters. They were verified experimentally. The transient states of the railguns were studied with our field-circuit mathematical model, and their results were also verified by experiments.

Regarding the importance of short circuit and inrush current simulations in the split-winding transformer, a novel nonlinear equivalent circuit is introduced in this paper for nonlinear simulation of this transformer. The equivalent circuit is extended using the nonlinear inductances. Employing a numerical method, leakage and magnetizing inductances in the split-winding transformer are extracted and the nonlinear model inductances are estimated using these inductances. The introduced model is validated and using this nonlinear model, inrush and short-circuit currents are calculated. It has been seen that the introduced model is valid and suitable for simulations of the split-winding transformer due to various loading conditions. Finally, the effects of nonlinearity of the model inductances are discussed in the following.

The main problems occurring during high power device modeling are discussed in this paper. Unipolar and bipolar device properties are compared and the problems concerning high time-constant values related to the diffusion phenomena in the large base are explained. Traditional and novel concepts of power device simulation are presented. In order to make accurate and modern semiconductor device models widely accessible, a website has been designed and made available to Internet users, allowing them to perform simulations of electronic circuits containing high power semiconductor devices. In this software, a new distributed model of power diode has been included. Together with the existing VDMOS macromodel library, the presented approach can facilitate the design process of power circuits. In the future, distributed models of IGBT, BJT and thyristor will be added.

Opis:
This paper presents typical results for the non-linear low frequency transients following the energization of power transformers. The three operating conditions of no-load, full-load and internal faults are considered. A direct analytical procedure is applied for solving the corresponding set of differential equations describing the transformers equivalent circuit. The core representation is based on the use of curve fitting applied to their magnetization curves. The results include plots versus time for the supply current, the core flux, the magnetizing current as well as the internal induced voltage. Moreover, graphs for the hysteresis loops relating the instantaneous values of both the excitation current and the core flux are given. An approach is also presented for the numerical determination of the amplitudes of the different harmonics existing in any of these signals utilizing the corresponding equidistant samples. As examples, the DC offset as well as harmonics up to the fourth order are considered. It is shown that several useful features can be extracted from the results in both the time and harmonic domains that can assist in differentiating between overcurrents resulting from short-circuits or inrush phenomena.

Opis:
The use of lithium-ion battery energy storage (BES) has grown rapidly during the past year for both mobile and stationary applications. For mobile applications, BES units are used in the range of 10–120 kWh. Power grid applications of BES are characterized by much higher capacities (range of MWh) and this area particularly has great potential regarding the expected energy system transition in the next years. The optimal operation of BES by an energy storage management system is usually predictive and based strongly on the knowledge about the state of charge (SOC) of the battery. The SOC depends on many factors (e.g. material, electrical and thermal state of the battery), so that an accurate assessment of the battery SOC is complex. The SOC intermediate prediction methods are based on the battery models. The modeling of BES is divided into three types: fundamental (based on material issues), electrical equivalent circuit (based on electrical modeling) and balancing (based on a reservoir model). Each of these models requires parameterization based on measurements of input/output parameters. These models are used for SOC modelbased calculation and in battery system simulation for optimal battery sizing and planning. Empirical SOC assessment methods currently remain the most popular because they allow practical application, but the accuracy of the assessment, which is the key factor for optimal operation, must also be strongly considered. This scientific contribution is divided into two papers. Paper part I will present a holistic overview of the main methods of SOC assessment. Physical measurement methods, battery modeling and the methodology of using the model as a digital twin of a battery are addressed and discussed. Furthermore, adaptive methods and methods of artificial intelligence, which are important for the SOC calculation, are presented. In paper part II, examples of the application areas are presented and their accuracy is discussed

The shielding properties of conductive grids are mainly due to the reflection of electromagnetic waves from their surface. The shielding effectiveness depends on the grid mesh size and the thickness and resistivity of the grid material. This paper presents the results of model studies of equivalent circuits of new grids made of woven fabrics containing various types of conductive threads in their structures. The results obtained in the simulation software Matlab/Simulink were compared with measurement results of the transmission and reflection losses (coefficients) of the electromagnetic radiation (EMR) obtained by the wave-guide applicator method within the frequency range of 2.5 - 18 GHz, showing their great similarity. The modelling method developed makes it possible to optimise the design processes of the structure and raw material composition of shielding fabrics with the EMR suppression expected for the practical applications specified.
Opracowana metoda modelowania umożliwia optymalizację procesów projektowania struktury i składu surowcowego tkanin ekranujących o oczekiwanych właściwościach tłumiących PEM dla określonych przeznaczeń użytkowych.

Opis:
Climate change is driving the transformation of energy systems from fossil to renewable energies. In industry, power supply systems and electro-mobility, the need for electrical energy storage is rising sharply. Lithium-based batteries are one of the most widely used technologies. Operating parameters must be determined to control the storage system within the approved operating limits. Operating outside the limits, i.e., exceeding or falling below the permitted cell voltage, can lead to faster aging or destruction of the cell. Accurate cell information is required for optimal and efficient system operation. The key is high-precision measurements, sufficiently accurate battery cell and system models, and efficient control algorithms. Increasing demands on the efficiency and dynamics of better systems require a high degree of accuracy in determining the state of health and state of charge (SOC). These scientific contributions to the above topics are divided into two parts. In the first part of the paper, a holistic overview of the main SOC assessment methods is given. Physical measurement methods, battery modeling, and the methodology of using the model as a digital twin of a battery are addressed and discussed. In addition, adaptive methods and artificial intelligence methods that are important for SOC calculation are presented. Part two of the paper presents examples of the application areas and discusses their accuracy.

A design and manufacturing of test structures for characterization of logic integrated circuits in a VeSTIC process developed in ITE, are described. Two variants of the VeSTIC processs have been described. A role and sources of the process variability have been discussed. The VeSFET I-V characteristics, the logic cell static characteristics, and waveforms of the 53-stage ring oscillator are presented. Basic parameters of the VeSFETs have been determined. The role of the process variability and of the parasitic elements introduced by the conservative circuit design, e.g. wide conductive lines connecting the devices in the circuits, have been discussed. Based on the inverter layout and on the process specification, the parasitic elements of the inverter equivalent circuit have been extracted. The inverter propagation times, the ring oscillator frequency, and their dependence on the supply bias have been determined.
