In the article a tool for calculating the braking distance of rail vehicles developed as part of R&D project conducted at the Institute of Rail Vehicles in Poznan (Poland) was presented. The tool used high-level programming language – Python for determining the braking distance of railway vehicles in accordance with the algorithm presented in the EN 14531 standard. The developed tool takes into account the theoretical curve of pressure build-up in the brake cylinder and the variability of the friction coefficient with time during the braking process. The paper presents the results of calculating the braking distance of the electric multiple unit.

In automotive technology attributes of the "driver-vehicle-environment" system are described as "vehicle handling". The driver has control of the vehicle generally by means of directional guidance, acceleration and braking, on the other side different influences as are side wind, road irregularities, road profile, sudden obstructions etc.from the environment affect on the vehicle. The task of research and development in the field of vehicle control is to adjust the vehicle handling to the driving ability of an average driver so that the active safety of the vehicle and passengers maximizes. Some selected vehicle characteristics and relations which influence the vehicle dynamics in braking modes are analysed in the paper. In particular vehicle influencing forces at braking, slip curve of the wheel, velocity course at braking, simplified parameters course, measurement preparation, measurement from the initial velocity ni =90 km.h-1, maximum braking deceleration dependence on tire pressure and velocity ni 1 on dry surface, maximum braking deceleration dependency on tire pressure and velocity ni 1 on wet surface, maximum braking deceleration dependency on velocity ni 1 tire pressure on dry surface, Maximum braking deceleration dependency on velocity ni 1nd tire pressure on wet surface are presented in the paper.

The article presents the results of research on the influence of the pressure in car tires on the braking distance. Tires with lower than nominal pressure, higher than nominal pressure and for comparison with nominal pressure were analyzed. The tests were carried out on a bituminous surface typical for most road surfaces in Poland. Six tests were carried out on a dry surface, a wet surface, and a surface covered with snow. The cars were equipped with sets of summer and winter tires. The research on the influence of tire pressure on the braking distance was carried out with two practically identical cars with very similar curb weight The research on the influence of tire pressure on the braking distance was carried out with two practically identical cars with very similar curb weight. Both vehicles were equipped with an efficient ABS system. All measurement tests were performed at a speed of 50 km / h.

Opis:
The multiple crashes in Indonesia are categorized into a frequently occurring accident, which often causes death. The aim of this paper is to examine the driver psychophysiology during braking in response to the vehicle in the front, which is varied. The research was initiated with a literature review regarding the electrooculography (EEG), safe braking distance, Emotive Epoc+, and Central Nervous System (CNS). The research was initiated with a literature review regarding the Electroencephalography (EEG), safe braking distance, Emotive Epoc+, and Central Nervous System (CNS). Research design with direct driving experiments on the road is used to analyze what happens to the driver's brain when braking at a certain distance (psychophysiology factor). The collected sampling data are from 4 male healthy drivers with the age between 20 - 40 years and average driving experience of more than 5 years. The measurement of brain activities into a spectrum of colors and Emotive BCI 16 electrodes through the performance matrices was conducted for the existing condition and condition suitable with the safety distance permitted. Experiments have been tested in 4 different road conditions of residential road (speed <30Km/h), city road (speed <50Km/h), rural road (speed <80Km/h) and motorway (speed <100Km/h). Safety distance measurement used standard data with residences road = 10m, city road = 29m, rural road 73m, and motorways = 115m. Results of brainwave signal have been recorded by Emotive Epoc Brain Activity map and Emotive BCI matrix and have been used to analyse the driver’s psychophysical. The findings show that the level of stress in the existing condition is very wherein for the braking in the densely populated residence = 87, urban areas = 83, intercity = 76, and motorways = 60. In contrast, following the safety distance rules have successfully reduced mental stress to average 47 as proofed by lower beta signal especially on occipital lobe (vision function) and on frontal lobe (attention function). Improper infrastructure such as narrow road at heavy residential damaged driver relaxes and increased stress level as indicated by increasing brain signal significantly. Meanwhile, driving while concerning the safety braking distance psychophysiologically through the identification of brain activity will be able to lower the driver’s stress and fatigue level.

The aim of this article was to perform a practical measurement of the braking properties of a selected Škoda Yeti vehicle on a wet and dry asphalt road and then evaluate and compare the measured data using a decelerograph and a mobile application mSTK. It is a new application for measuring driving dynamics, which was developed for the needs of technical inspection stations in Slovakia. The subject was the intensive braking of a Škoda Yeti passenger car with a fully compressed service brake from different velocities and on different surfaces. A total of 18 measurements were performed, of which 9 on the dry and 9 on the wet surface. This is a new alternative method for recording vehicle driving dynamics. The developed application in conjunction with modern smartphones can thus compete with the current decelographer, both in terms of technical parameters, measurement accuracy (total average deviation 2.11%) and ease of use. The results and data processed in this way are presented in the final part of the paper.

Opis:
The correct information, including the full braking deceleration of a vehicle, is an essential factor of the road accident process analysis. The aim of the paper was to define and compare the braking properties of the tested Tesla model S electric vehicle by means of the XL MeterTM Pro decelograph and a smartphone as a new alternative method. The measured procedure was the intensive vehicle braking by means of a fully pressed-down operation brake from the different initial velocities. Altogether, 32 measurements were carried out, out of which 16 on the dry surface and 16 on the wet surface. This paper contains the methodology and the results of the performed measurements. The data obtained by an XL Meter TM Pro measuring device were processed by means of the XL Visionä and PC Crash 11.0. software, whereas the data from the smartphone was analysed using the Diagram software. The results and data processed herewith can be useful for the forensic practice.

Opis:
Purpose: Develop a method for determining and evaluating the stress-strain state, in particular the distribution of thermomechanical stresses in the materials of individual rotating parts of vehicles. Design/methodology/approach: The proposed method is based on the principle of gradual approximations of the solution when the boundary conditions are satisfied on the curvilinear limiting surfaces of the disk body. Findings: The proposed method of determining and estimating the distribution of thermomechanical stresses in the disk material makes it possible to take into account the variable geometry: thickness and presence of a hole in the central part of the disk, also correctly determine stress strain state at any point of unevenly heated rotating axial body. Research limitations/implications: The work uses generally accepted assumptions and limitations for thermomechanical calculations. Originality/value: It is proved that in real disks the stress-strain state is spatial, and the well-known method based on the hypotheses of the plane-stress state does not provide the possibility of calculating the values of stresses in the thickness of the disk. The obtained results can be used as a basis for improving the methodology of auto technical examination of road accidents. In addition, they can be taken into account by design engineers of car brake systems.
