    Opis:
    The choice of rational heat-utilizer heating scheme is a very current problem of energy saving when using boiler units. This article proposes the heat computation technique of heat exchanger at heat pipes with deep combustion - product cooling in boilers and water steam condensation. In addition, the construction scheme of heat exchanger made with two units in which the heat pipes are filled with different working medium is described. The numerical study results of heat carrier temperature and pressure distribution, namely: combustion products and water being heated according to counterflow - heat exchanger length are presented. The efficiency of two-phase heat-utilizer is determined.

    Opis:
    This paper deals with a nonlinear model predictive control designed for a boiler unit. The predictive controller is realized by means of a recurrent neural network which acts as a one-step ahead predictor. Then, based on the neural predictor, the control law is derived solving an optimization problem. Fault tolerant properties of the proposed control system are also investigated. A set of eight faulty scenarios is prepared to verify the quality of the fault tolerant control. Based of different faulty situations, a fault compensation problem is also investigated. As the automatic control system can hide faults from being observed, the control system is equipped with a fault detection block. The fault detection module designed using the one-step ahead predictor and constant thresholds informs the user about any abnormal behaviour of the system even in the cases when faults are quickly and reliably compensated by the predictive controller.

    Opis:
    The paper deals with application of state space neural network models to fault detection and accommodation of a boiler unit. The work describes two aspects. The first one is the fault detection. In this paper three methods for fault diagnosis, namely: simple and adaptive threshold as well as more robust method which is model error modelling, are described and compared. The second part of the paper presents the approach to fault accommodation based on the so-called instantaneous linearization of the already trained nonlinear state space model of the system. With the obtained linear model it is possible to derive a new control law of the boiler unit in order to eliminate the fault effect in the case of faults. All data used in experiments are collected from the boiler unit simulator implemented in Matlab/Simulink.
    Artykuł dotyczy zastosowania modelu sztucznej sieci neuronowej w przestrzeni stanów do wykrywania i kompensacji uszkodzeń w układzie sterowania zbiornikiem przepływowym. Do wykrycia uszkodzenia zostały zaproponowane i doświadczalnie przetestowane trzy metody. Dwie pierwsze metody czyli progowanie proste oraz adaptacyjne polegają na obserwacji sygnału residuum i podejmowaniu decyzji przy przekroczeniu zadanego dopuszczalnego progu przez wartość tego sygnału. Trzecia metoda opiera się na zastosowaniu dodatkowego modelu dynamicznego do modelowania błędu modelu podstawowego w celu określenia zakresu niepewności jego pracy. W przypadku przekroczenia tego zakresu, można uznać, że wystąpiło uszkodzenie. Drugim podjętym przez autorów tematem jest problem kompensacji wykrytego uszkodzenia. W pracy opisuje się podejście oparte na tzw. chwilowej linearyzacji nauczonego w trybie off-line nieliniowego modelu systemu. Na podstawie zlinearyzowanego modelu możliwe jest wyznaczenie nowego prawa sterowania w celu wyeliminowania wpływu uszkodzenia w przypadku wystąpienia awarii. Wszystkie dane wykorzystywane do celów doświadczalnych są zbierane z symulatora zbiornika zrealizowanego w pakiecie Matlab/Simulink.

    Opis:
    Design and operation methods of automated systems that tolerate measurement track damage are presented. This type of structure for feed water control systems in the drum boilers is described. The study presents a concept of an FTC (Fault Tolerant Control) system in the regulation system of the water level inside a drum. The creation and examination of partial models for the diagnostic system are described. Analytical redundancy has been applied in the presented regulation system. The effects of diagnostics and fault tolerance on the values of reliability and power block operational safety indexes have been determined in the study. Moreover, regulation systems in use are described and backup structures have been developed in order to create a regulation system that would be resistant to fault of the measurement tracks.
    Przedstawiono sposób projektowania i działania układów automatyki tolerujących uszkodzenia torów pomiarowych. Opisano układ tego typu dla systemu regulacji zasilania w wodę kotła walczakowego. Praca przedstawia koncepcję systemu FTC (Fault Tolerant Control) w układzie regulacji poziomu wody w walczaku. Opisano sposób tworzenia i badań modeli cząstkowych dla systemu diagnostycznego. W opisywanym układzie regulacji zastosowano redundancję analityczną. W pracy określono wpływ diagnostyki i tolerowania uszkodzeń na wartości wskaźników niezawodności i bezpieczeństwa pracy bloku energetycznego. Opisano także stosowane układy regulacji i opracowano struktury rezerwowe, aby powstał układ regulacji odporny na uszkodzenia torów pomiarowych.

    Calculations were performed of the thermal system of a power plant with installed water pressure tanks. The maximum rise in the block electric power resulting from the shut-off of low-pressure regenerative heaters is determined. At that time, the boiler is fed with hot water from water pressure tanks acting as heat accumulators. Accumulation of hot water in water tanks is also proposed in the periods of the power unit small load. In order to lower the plant electric power in the off-peak night hours, water heated in low-pressure regenerative heaters and feed water tank to the nominal temperature is directed to water pressure tanks. The water accumulated during the night is used to feed the boiler during the period of peak demand for electricity. Drops in the power block electric power were determined for different capacities of the tanks and periods when they are charged. A financial and economic profitability analysis (of costs and benefits) is made of the use of tanks for a 200 MW power unit. Operating in the automatic system of frequency and power control, the tanks may also be used to ensure a sudden increase in the electric power of the unit. The results of the performed calculations and analyses indicate that installation of water pressure tanks is well justified. The investment is profitable. Water pressure tanks may not only be used to reduce the power unit power during the off-peak night hours and raise it in the periods of peak demand, but also to increase the power capacity fast at any time. They may also be used to fill the boiler evaporator with hot water during the power unit start-up from the cold state.

    The number of the TEU containers significantly increased in the last twenty years not only in a global scale but also transferred by a single container vessel. The typical Panamax was designed to carry 4 000 TEU in the eighties while nowadays its TEU capacity increased up to 5 500 TEU. Moreover, thefirst container carrier with a capacity of 11 000 TEU in New Panamax class was launched in 2006. The main engines with a power up to 100 000 kW are installed to propel such a huge seagoing vessels, capable to carry thousands of containers. Heavy fuel oil with a lowest combustion quantities up to 700 cSt for 50°C are used in the contemporary container vessels low speed engines. The steam demand to heat up such fuels in transfer, purification and preparation for the combustion process is enormous. Considering relatively high main engines power values there is a chance to recover a big amount of heat wasted in the exhaust gases through correct power and capacity selection of the exhaust gas boiler. The correct choice of the exhaust gas boiler lets fulfill the heat purposes of the container ships and additionally gives a steam toturbine driven alternator. There is a demand to calculate the energy resources of the container vessels because of the trends in increasing speed, TEU capacity and heavy fuel oil grades used in contemporary ships. The suggested methodology to calculate the amount of steam that is possible to produce in the exhaust gas boiler for the contemporary container carrier s is one of the analyzed elements. This methodology can be the main asset as a support of taking design decisions in energy and economy aspects of the ship in a preliminary stage when there is not to many known parameters. It is so important as the ejfects of the design decisions in a preliminary stage have significant matter for the building and operation costs of the future container vessels.
    W ostatnim dwudziestoleciu liczba przewożonych kontenerów TEU znacznie wzrosła nie tylko w skali globalnej, ale również jednorazowo. W latach osiemdziesiątych typowy Panamax mógł przewieźć jednorazowo 4 000 TEU, podczas gdy obecnie jego zdolność przewozowa osiągnęła poziom 5 500 TEU. Co więcej, w roku 2006 został oddany do eksploatacji pierwszy statek kontenerowy z serii Suezmax o największej pojemności ładunkowej 11 000 TEU. Do napędu tak dużych jednostek morskich, zdolnych przewieźć jednorazowo tysiące kontenerów, instalowane są silniki o mocach dochodzących do 100 000 kW. Silniki te są zaprojektowane do spalania najgorszych jakościowo paliw pozostałościowych, o lepkości kinematycznej 700cSt (50°C). Zapotrzebowanie energii cieplnej do podgrzania tych paliw w procesie transportu, oczyszczania i przygotowania do spalania wymaga ogromnych ilości pary. Z uwagi na stosunkowo duże wartości mocy silników napędu głównego współczesnych statków kontenerowych istnieje możliwość odzyskania dużych ilości energii z entalpii spalin, poprzez odpowiedni dobór mocy i wydajności kotłów utylizacyjnych. Właściwy dobór kotła utylizacyjnego pozwoli na zrealizowanie celów grzewczych statku kontenerowego i pokryje zapotrzebowanie na energię elektryczną statku kontenerowego w czasie podróży morskiej. Z uwagi na rosnącą prędkość i pojemność ładunkową współczesnych statków kontenerowych oraz stosowane paliwa pozostałościowe istnieje potrzeba analizy zasobów energetycznych kontenerowców. Jednym z elementów tej analizy jest proponowana metodyka oceny ilości możliwej do wyprodukowania pary w kotle utylizacyjnym dla współczesnych statków kontenerowych. Metodyka ta może stanowić źródło wsparcia w podejmowaniu decyzji projektowych w zakresie energetyki i ekonomiki statku we wstępnym etapie projektowania, kiedy dysponuje się niewielką liczbą informacji. Jest to o tyle ważne, że skutki decyzji podjętych w etapie wstępnym mają istotne znaczenie dla kosztów budowy i eksploatacji przyszłej jednostki.

    Opis:
    Described in the paper are the structures of water level controls in power boiler drums. A boiler drum’s function is very important for the power unit process, because this is where water separates from steam, which is then superheated and supplied to the turbine. A boiler drum’s dynamic properties as an object of regulation have been listed. The model has been identified on the basis of measurement data from a real object. In the described system the control and measurement devices’ working conditions are difficult due to high temperature and pressure. Incorrect operation of the control system could lead to a major accident. A performance analysis has been presented of three controller level structures, to ensure the system’s stable operation.
    Opisano struktury stosowanych regulatorów poziomu wody w walczaku kotła energetycznego. Walczak pełni bardzo odpowiedzialne funkcje w procesie technologicznym bloku energetycznego, ponieważ zachodzi tutaj proces oddzielania wody od pary, która po przegrzaniu jest doprowadzana do turbiny. Przedstawiono właściwości dynamiczne walczaka jako obiektu regulacji. Przeprowadzono identyfikację modelu na podstawie danych pomiarowych z rzeczywistego obiektu. W opisywanym układzie warunki pracy urządzeń regulacyjnych i pomiarowych są trudne ze względu na wysoką temperaturę i ciśnienie. Niepoprawna praca układu regulacji może doprowadzić do poważnej awarii. Zaprezentowano analizę pracy trzech struktur regulatora poziomu w celu zapewnienia stabilnej pracy układu.
