Opis:
The article presents two modules operating in a hybrid CAPCAST system implemented in the Department of Applied Computer Science and Modelling, AGH University of Science and Technology, Cracow. These are the modules: CAPCAST-base of producers and CAPCAST-base of materials. Registered producers may benefit from other modules of the system, the base can also be an independent source of knowledge about Polish foundries and their production capacity, and can serve as a kind of platform for the implementation of the basic functions of e-business. The base of materials can also be a source of knowledge about materials, and it allows searching and filtering the lists of materials in terms of user-selected attributes using a multi-level search engine. This module is integrated with the rest of the system and can be used by other modules. The system has been developed at the AGH Department of Applied Computer Science and Modelling in Cracow.

Opis:
Simplifications used in simulation program codes require the use of substitute parameters in the material databases (also called apparent or substitutive). On the one hand, they formally fit into the records used in the heat flow model, porosity, properties etc. and on the other hand they should be determined in conditions most similar to the real casting-mould system. The article presents results of a research on thermophysical parameters of gypsum mould used for precision casting moulds. Experiments were carried out on a cylindrical mould made of Plasticast gypsum, in which the heat source was a cylinder filled with liquid aluminium alloy of the temperature of 655°C. Energetic validation was carried out by using the NovaFlow&Solid ver. 6.3 simulation code. As a result of validation tests, substitute thermophysical parameters of gypsum were determined. For determined parameters, best-fit of solidification time from the experiment and simulation was obtained and the curves of gypsum mass heating were satisfactorily recreate.

Opis:
Organic fuel based pyrotechnic charges for gas generators (GG) of Base Bleed (BB) projectiles have shown better combustion characteristics than metallic based ones. Since organic fuel based compositions are representative of energy poor pyrotechnic mixtures, they combust at lower combustion velocities. Conventional methods for heat transfer enhancement of GG charges, based on the introduction of metallic fuel components into pyrotechnic mixtures, are very successful in raising the combustion velocity, but inevitably, they also tend to force production of solid and liquid combustion products which reduce the GG charge’s functionality. In this paper, the results obtained by inserting copper wires (copper wire heat guides (HG)) into organic-based gas generator charges will be presented. The aim of inserting copper wires was to enhance the combustion velocity by influencing on the thermal heat transfer of GG charges. The results have shown that copper wire heat guides had a positive influence on the GG charges heat transfer, resulting in a 15-20% rise in the combustion velocity, without any of the side effects observed in the case of the addition of metallic fuels to GG charges.

Opis:
The specific purpose of a pyrotechnic mixture for a Gas Generator (GG) of Base Bleed (BB) projectile requires a carefully balanced combustion velocity for obtaining the maximum projectile range and avoiding a reactive propelling force. The development of the pyrotechnic element is done under laboratory conditions which often differ from the real usage conditions. To be able to fairly predict the combustion process characteristics in the real GGs of BB projectiles, some influential technological factors and their influence on the combustion velocity have been investigated. Factors which were observed to have the most significant influence on the combustion velocity of pyrotechnic compositions are charge density, oxygen balance, combustion chamber wall thickness and material type. Individual and combined influence of these factors on the combustion velocity will also be presented in this paper.

Opis:
Mineral Raw Materials are of strategic importance for Europe’s economic growth and societal development. The European Commission addressed this challenge through the Raw Materials Initiative (RMI), stakeholders’ platform, the European Innovation Platform on Raw Materials (EIP-RM), and Horizon 2020 funding. The aim is to ensure security and sustainability of mineral raw materials supply from EU domestic and other primary and secondary sources and management of competing uses of the European surface and subsurface. The sustainable supply of raw materials from European sources requires an improved knowledge base of raw materials within the EU, namely the European Union Raw Materials Knowledge Base (EURMKB), where EuroGeoSurveys, the Geological Surveys of Europe, is one of the key data providers. Current European Commission policies have the same objectives that will be fully implemented in near future. The Mobility Package and its implementation activities (such as European Battery Alliance) and tools (including Horizon Europe) will strengthen the raw materials position in an overall EU policy setting.
Naturalne surowce mineralne mają strategiczne znaczenie dla europejskiego wzrostu gospodarczego i rozwoju społecznego. Komisja Europejska podjęła takie wyzwanie poprzez Inicjatywę dla Surowców (RMI), platformę zainteresowanych stron, Europejską Platformę Innowacji w Zakresie Surowców Naturalnych (EIP-RM) i fundusz Horyzont 2020.

Opis:
Purpose: Thermoplastic materials, such as acetal (AC) and polyamide (PA), constitute an alternative to polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) based resins as the materials for removable partial dentures. However, none of the previous studies compared chewing efficiency and occlusal forces in the wearers of dentures made of various materials. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine and compare the chewing efficiency and occlusal forces in PMMA, PA and AC RPDs’ wearers. The hypothesis was that the type of denture base material shows a significant effect on chewing efficiency (expressed as a degree of food fragmentation) and occlusal force. Methods: The experiment included the group of 30 patients using removable partial dentures. The dentures made of PMMA, acetal and polyamide were tested in each patient. Each denture was worn for 90 days, with a random sequence of the denture manufacturing and insertion. After 7, 30 and 90 days of each denture wear, chewing efficiency coefficient was determined with the aid of a sieving method, and occlusal force was measured with a dynamometer. Results: The use of dentures made of PMMA or acetal was reflected by a marked increase in chewing efficiency and occlusal force. None of these parameters changed significantly with the time of denture wear. Moreover, no significant correlation was found between chewing efficiency and occlusal forces. Conclusions: Denture base material exerts significant effects on the degree of food fragmentation and the level of occlusal forces. The use of dentures and clasps made of materials with lower modulus of elasticity is associated with lower chewing efficiency and lower occlusal forces.
