Opis:
The Internet of Things (IoT) and mixed reality are now among the most important areas in research or in practice. The aim of this paper is to propose an appropri‐ ate way of connection of these two areas, where is pos‐ sible to control and monitor mechatronic devices using a mobile device with augmented/mixed reality support. The main task will be to explore these options in the area and implement this solution as prototype. The proposed methodology for control and diagnostics of mechatronic devices is modern as it combines hardware management, Unity engine for mixed reality development, and commu‐ nication within the IoT network.

Opis:
Presently, digitalization is causing continuous transformation of industrial processes. However, it does pose challenges like spatially contextualizing data from industrial processes. There are various methods for calculating and delivering real-time location data. Indoor positioning systems (IPS) are one such method, used to locate objects and people within buildings. They have the potential to improve digital industrial processes, but they are currently underutilized. In addition, augmented reality (AR) is a critical technology in today’s digital industrial transformation. This article aims to investigate the use of IPS and AR in manufacturing, the methodologies and technologies employed, the issues and limitations encountered, and identify future research opportunities. This study concludes that, while there have been many studies on IPS and navigation AR, there has been a dearth of research efforts in combining the two. Furthermore, because controlled environments may not expose users to the practical issues they may face, more research in a real-world manufacturing environment is required to produce more reliable and sustainable results.

Opis:
The paper presents the analysis and discussion of video detection data usage for discrete transport systems safety improvement. The Autonomous Vehicles (AV) and the Augmented Reality (AR) research in connection with a Driving Assistance (DA) are presented. This article is going to show where the border between those two fields of interest is and how they are going to influence on the future of automotive. The proposal of the AR system – based on soft-computing methods used for an object classification problem – is given. The input data are taken from the real traffic monitoring system located at the set of roads in Poland. Data from the monitoring devices are used to analyze the travel time of vehicles – elements of the transportation system. The travel time model taking into account the real road situation is built. The proposed solution can be an essential tool for the owner and administrator of the transportation systems

Opis:
The German-funded FernSAMS project aimed at the development of an unmanned, remote-controlled tug operation with AR/VR technology. After an extensive simulation test with ship-handling simulators, the developed FernSAMS AR/VR system has now been in-situ tested with a scale model of the tug. The model test results showed very robust stability in remote operations with improved situational awareness with the VR/AR system and sensors. After a short introduction of the FernSAMS concept as well as some first insights into FernSAMS Human-Machine-Interface tests within the simulator, this paper introduces the technical setup of the scale-model tests being conducted with the FernSAMS concept to test the operational and technical feasibility of AR/VR-based remote control. This includes an overview of the systems and sensors integration and an analysis of the effectiveness of AR/VR system combined with 360-degree video streaming.
