Opis:
The crowd-sourcing approach should be implemented into a new historical geoportal of Poland due to its increasing potential in WebGIS. Registered users will be able to acquire spatial data from various map series. As it requires feature class harmonization, a common symbol classification should be proposed. It will be based on chosen topographic maps of Polish land from the 19th and 20th centuries. Feature classes derived from archival maps will be standardized and reclassified, but with no information lost. This will be done in four steps which require: data acquisition, map content harmonization, feature class typification and attribute table elaboration. In addition, four methods of data harmonization can be distinguished: symbol sequence, semantic analogies, spatial relations and a combined method. The paper covers the elaboration of two thematic layers - roads and railways based on three topographic maps (Austrian 1:75 000, German 1:100 000, Russian 1: 126 000).

Opis:
The article presents land surface changes caused by historical mining of metal ores on in the country town of Miedzianka in Lower Silesia, Poland. From the 19th until the middle of 20th century, mining in Miedzianka was in depression. Due to long-term and widespread mining activity, the town almost completely disappeared. The scale of the devastating effects of the mining appeared on the surface of the land, which led to the decision to abandon Miedzianka. Despite the damage the local authority made efforts to renew regional tourism. Unfortunately, it is impossible to carry out revitalization without recognizing the current threat of postmining excavations. Therefore, the authors focused on analyzing collected archival documentation to understand the mining processes that have occurred and may still be occurring under the surface. The archival maps presented in the article have been indicated land use changes from 1886 to 1951. The current situation display WMS layer from Geoportal website. The collected materials allowed the spatiotemporal changes that occurred in Miedzianka to be presented. Additionally, the information base has been enriched with InSAR results for monitoring terrain deformation. The observations demonstrate that the biggest changes have taken place before 1936. In addition, current urban development constitute less than 25% of historical buildings. Analysis of InSAR method indicate that the research area require more accurate technique, because of the occurrence of large number of agricultural and forest areas.

Opis:
Mediterranean regions have experienced significant soil degradation over the past decades. In this context, careful land observation using satellite data is crucial for understanding the long-term usage patterns of natural resources and facilitating their sustainable management to monitor and evaluate the potential degradation. Given the environmental and political interest on this problem, there is urgent need for a centralized repository and mechanism to share geospatial data, information and maps of land change. Geospatial data collecting is one of the most important task for many users because there are significant barriers in accessing and using data. This limit could be overcome by implementing a WebGIS through a combination of existing free and open source software for geographic information systems (FOSS4G). In this paper we preliminary discuss methods for collecting raster data in a geodatabase by processing open multi-temporal and multi-scale satellite data aimed at retrieving indicators for land degradation phenomenon (i.e. land cover/land use analysis, vegetation indices, trend analysis, etc.). Then we describe a methodology for designing a WebGIS framework in order to disseminate information through maps for territory monitoring. Basic WebGIS functions were extended with the help of POSTGIS database and OpenLayers libraries. Geoserver was customized to set up and enhance the website functions developing various advanced queries using PostgreSQL and innovative tools to carry out efficiently multi-layer overlay analysis. The end-product is a simple system that provides the opportunity not only to consult interactively but also download processed remote sensing data.

Opis:
A significant problem of the current land management in Slovakia is the long-term separation of usage and property rights. More than 91% of agricultural land is leased and used by larger agricultural enterprises (9%). Current common agricultural policies of the EU have been the subject of criticism for a long time, as inappropriate settings force farmers to manage unsustainably with a negative impact on biodiversity. Substantial, reliable and beneficial mutual information sharing between those who do business on the land, who own the land and who use the surrounding landscape, either as a living space for housing or relaxation and recreation might help to mitigate some issues. In this paper, the authors present an implemented proposal for multi-layer map and analytical support for land and soil use assessment. The model area includes the land units managed by the Agricultural Cooperative of Horná Nitra. The approach includes the identification of undesirable combinations according to criteria (degree of protection, area, type of use, erosion risk, and ecological stability) on each land block. This concept enabled the visualization and quantification of risks in the area in question through an online GIS application with a web interface.

Opis:
Tourism is one of the most important factors in economic growth in Vietnam. However, it requires the balance between economics, social-cultures, and ecology because of their big impacts. In this paper, we propose a platform with mobile and web-based applications that can support smart and sustainable tourism in Vietnam for both local governments and visitors. The mobile application allows visitors to access location-based services to explore the visiting area, such as finding nearby natural attractions, as well as information to minimize the negative effects of tourism on the environment and the local community. It also enables users to report negative impacts to local government. The web application allows local authorities to monitor the status and trends of the habitant, natural environment, tourism infrastructure and activities in the area. The system uses geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing techniques to collect, analye and visualize various indicators of sustainability. The platform is developed with open-source technologies such as NodeJS, PostgreSQL, and Flutter. The paper demonstrates the feasibility and usefulness of the proposed platform through case studies in Hoa Binh and BacKan, two provinces have many attractive natural sites.

Opis:
Due to the need for further expansion of a gas pipeline network and more efficient maintenance of available spatial data on the gas pipeline infrastructure, the management of gas transportation system operator has decided to extend the existing information system for the management of gas infrastructure by introducing location intelligence, i.e. its upgrading with the functional WebGIS solution. This paper describes the approach for developing the solution by using open source software components. The implemented WebGIS solution enables environmental monitoring in relation to safe natural gas transport, helps in planning and maintaining the gas pipeline network, and provides location-conscious decisionmaking on various aspects of the gas infrastructure management.
