    Opis:
    The goal of the text is to summarise and analyse commemorative strategies and trends that were used in case of the Czechoslovak and Czech president Václav Havel (1936–2011; 1989–2003, in office) and that were especially expressed through proper names, mostly street names. The research is primarily based on selected archival sources and opinion journalism of the day. The research issue is presented against the broad background of place names commemorating Czechoslovak and Czech presidents over the course of the 20th century.

    Opis:
    The Helsinki process underwent significant transformations after the fall of the Iron Curtain. The early 1990s were marked by the institutionalisation of the CSCE and the enlargement of the participating states. The destabilisation of several regions and the outbreak of armed conflicts have led to a multiplication of the agenda and activities within the CSCE structures. In 2022 it was exactly 30 years since the CSCE chairmanship country was the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic. In our article, we provide an overview of how the Czechoslovak chairmanship took place in this specific context, what priorities it addressed and what significant events marked it.

    Стаття присвячена постаті видатного чеського культурного та політичного діяча Вацлава Гавела. Автор розкриває основні етапи біографії відомого політика від дитинства до доби президентства. Охарактеризовано літературну, просвітницьку, дисидентську, правозахисну та політичну діяльність В. Гавела. Автором здійснено узагальнення щодо ролі та впливу особистості чеського лідера посткомуністичної Чехословаччини та згодом Чеської республіки у справі повернення країни до сім’ї європейських держав. Сторінки біографії В. Гавела розкриваються на фоні основних процесів транзиту Чехії до демократії, а саме у зв’язку із успішними процесами євроатлантичної та європейської інтеграції. Підкреслюється значна роль постаті першого президента Чеської республіки у її міжнародному визнанні та налагодженні міжнародних відносин, проєвропейської зовнішньої політики. У статті також охарактеризовано налагодження українсько-чеського діалогу.
    The article is dedicated to the figure of the prominent Czech cultural and political figure Vaclav Havel. The author reveals the main stages of the biography of this famous personality from childhoodto the presidency. The literary, educational, dissident, human rights and political activities of V. Havel are characterized. The author summarizes the role and influence of the personality of the Czech leaderof post-communist Czechoslovakia and subsequently of the Czech Republic in the matter of returning the country to the community of European states. The pages of V. Havel’s biography are revealed onthe background of the main processes of Czech transit to democracy, namely in connection with the successful processes of Euro-Atlantic and European integration. The importance of the figure of thefirst President of the Czech Republic in its international recognition and the establishment of international relations and the pro-European foreign policy is emphasized. The article also describes the establishment of Ukrainian-Czech dialogue.
