Opis:
This study experimentally evaluated Polish school students' competence at written communication, understood as one of the forms of social communication. The task, performed online, was designed to see if the students were able to select the most important information from a given base text and to compose new texts on this basis to comply with three different length requirements, and how they behaved under the pressure of the time allocated to complete the sub-tasks. Results from an overall pool of 500 secondary school students from a diverse sample of schools (in the city of Poznań and the surrounding Wielkopolska province) that differed in terms of type and ranking suggest an overall poor competence at various composite skills involved in written social communication: information selection, summarization, logical structuring, and cohesive embellishment. Participants clearly exhibited various problems with concisely formulating thoughts, properly complying with instructions, etc. Composing a short, written message (based on a provided base text) and/or freely embellishing and reformulating information clearly caused them considerable difficulty. The article closes with some suggestions for how the methods used could potentially be improved in future studies of this type.

Human life has two forms. The first one is the successful management of private, professional life, the second one is in certain moments inability to harmonize their states and processes with the environment. Here we can see the effect of the social worker and his client. Client - an individual who at some point cannot understand the meaning of his own actions, gets into situations that seem to be so difficult to manage and he is not able even think about possible strategies for solutions. Social worker - a person who has such a wide range of options to address the adverse situations that at one point he is capable to offer and apply several solutions. The social worker is, therefore a person who has theoretical knowledge and social skills, knows how to react and propose a solution. Career opportunities in practice are wide and necessary due to the increasing number of socio-pathological phenomena, problems and vulnerable groups. Social skills are trainable. It is, therefore necessary to appeal to the development of these skills, which influence the future direction of personality and career opportunities in the field of social work.

Technological progress on the battlefield and the evaluation of the tactics of soldiers' actions entail a change in the philosophy of human resource management in military institutions, and thus a reorientation in the preparation of commanders-leaders to perform this mission. The modern soldier represents a different level of psychophysical resources. The new, more precise and at the same time more complicated to use equipment forces a change in the concept of preparing a soldier to perform tasks. Directing the development of the contemporary battlefield forces the continuous expansion of the cognitive level, both in the general and specialist area. This new approach to soldier formation shifts the centre of gravity in leadership formation to the area of cognitive resource development. This changes the emphasis of training and education towards the theory of social communication underlying the creation of psychophysical resources and issues related to the contemporary psychology of management in the military environment.

Opis:
In 1978, in the Holy See, all communication took place thanks to the analogue technology of text, sound and image recording. In the following years, the progress in computer science, made it possible to save any kind of data in the form of digital recording, so that one could collect data and transfer it to any place in an instant. Digitalization also allowed the Vatican to create a new model of communication with the modern world. This model was first based on the capabilities of computer networks and then on the Internet. It was first tested by the Holy See in Latin America. The experience of the Latin American Church’s Computer Network (RIIAL) was transferred to the Vatican, and then developed and proposed by John Paul II to the entire Universal Church. This model of digital communication would not have been possible without collaborators such as John Patrick Foley, Judith Zoebelein, Joaquin Navarro-Valls and a group of lay Catholics and clergy from Latin America. It was thanks to them that the Holy See began to communicate digitally through the World Wide Web and to use e-mail in a relatively short time since their invention. The present analysis concerns the creation of a digital model of communication during the pontificate of John Paul II (1978–2005).The inclusion of social media in the communication model of the Vatican, took place during the successors of the Pope from Poland.

Opis:
Based on a literature analysis of the applicability of econometric and analytical models in the forecasting of social responses it was concluded that a dominating role is played by conditions and rules deriving from statistical physics. These models examine the straight behaviour and reactions of group members in a specific situation. There are no models where the behaviour of participants is related to phenomena occurring in their environment (closer and further) and dynamically changing states of this environment (in particular the information environment). A model for the study of the web information impact on social responses has been proposed to complement the identified research gap. The model has been evaluated on the basis of investment decisions made at the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The conducted analyzes show the usefulness of the model and the possibility of its further development in the wider context of social applications.

Opis:
Different significant features, which correlate with the word «fact», are actualized through the peculiarities of the notional system of different branches of scientific knowledge. There is no single common scientific interpretation of the term «fact». The purpose of the research is to investigate the semantic structure of the term «fact», to formulate and substantiate its definition. Definition wording of the social-communication term «fact» involves identifying its taxonomic relations: the place of the notion among other notions and semantic (hierarchical, causal-consequential) connections between them, realized through the logical systematic of the notion. To detect essence of the notion of «fact» should be investigated universal properties and relations of objective realization forms of this phenomenon– the general structures which build categorical scheme. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research consist of scientific theories and concepts which form the fundamental scientific positions in philosophy, social communication, mass media, terminology. The philosophical theory of cognition generates factual concepts by studying the processes of obtaining knowledge about the essence of things, natural and social phenomena. The basic platforms of philosophical generalizations concerning the epistemological nature of the facts include: correlation of objective reality and language; dependence of human cognitive activity and language creation; the relations of objective reality and judgments about it. The social and communication aspects of the factual concepts are focused on the investigation of the functional characteristics of the fact in mass media creativity and editing, correlation of the fact with the objective reality and human consciousness. Specificity of the study requires the use of basic notions of the theory of the term, application of methods for terminological analysis: analysis of the semantic structure of the term «fact»; detection of the term relevance to the requirements of uniqueness and accuracy; establishment of the term signifies; categorical analysis of the notion. By creating a system of knowledge about the essence of the fact it is possible to provide modeling of social-communication term «fact»: the establishment of significant properties, connections and relations, allocated in notions definitions which are related with notion of the fact by generic-species relations: genitive notion – fact, specific notions – phenomena, processes, events. The semantic structure of species notions includes the meaning of «changing a particular object». This changing is a factor of the cognitive process and their transference to the consumer of information by means of social communications is a component of the knowledge management system since it is conscious and purposeful. Comparison of the logical relations between notion of «fact» and notions, which are connected to it by causal-consequential relations, is relevant. Social-communication notion of «fact» has close causal-consequential relations with the notion of «information»: the fact is an origin of information in a diversity of interpretation versions. Changes in space and time lead to appearance as a consequence of, which is reproduced by sign equivalents of a particular sign system. Conducted research makes it possible to conclude that for the social communications sphere we consider the following scientific definition to be reasonable: the fact is an obvious change of the objective reality in space and time, objectified and interpreted by the system of social communications for human cognitive activity. The fact reveals a complex, systemic phenomenon, realized in space and time and manifests in the triad of interconnected and interdependent signs, which have epistemological, dialectic, social and communicative aspects.

The Polish version of the article was published in “Roczniki Humanistyczne,” vol. 61 (2013), issue 2. The article presents selected aspects of the functioning of the concept of poverty in the narrative of Old Polish Franciscan preaching of the Saxon era. The relationship between the context formed by Old Polish culture and the role of the idea of poverty in the Franciscan movement is presented. The author attempts to present the adaptation of the topica, drawing on the broadly conceived Christian tradition, to the realities of the Polish Republic. To do so, an analysis of the discourse of various types of sermons is presented. The object of the analysis is Sunday and holiday preaching. The article, though, focuses on funeral sermons, which apparently has great significance for the Sarmatian culture. The concluding section highlights the extreme importance of the issue of poverty as one of those cultural symbols that defined the place and meaning of caritas in Old Polish culture. It was also necessary to form various aspects of the social sensitivity of those times.

Research concerning social communication is important for analysing techniques of reinforcing power. In the article, press propaganda is regarded as one of key tools of social communication in the contemporary world. The purpose of the article was to outline the definition of propaganda, which seems neglected in our times, as well as the conditions and specificity of using it, based on the historical perspective. Information obtained, based on selected examples, contributes to the development of knowledge of tools and the role of social communication. Cited historical events allowed to draw conclusions on the influence of propaganda on the daily life of citizens, including those, who gather knowledge and build their opinions on the basis of press releases. Furthermore, the paper emphasizes the possibilities of conscious intensification of propaganda activity to spread the views aimed at the development of societies and regions. The article has five major parts, with introduction and conclusion: the first, which content is related to the definition of propaganda, the second presenting selected theoreticians and practitioners of propaganda, the third describing the beginnings of press propaganda within the territory of Poland, the fourth showing the possibilities of application of propaganda at the verge of the 19th and 20th century, and the last showing an example of actions of the Nazi occupants concerning the press propaganda in the territory of Poland during World War II. Publications of authors such as, in the theoretical part, S. Kuśmierski or H. Jabłoński, and, in the practical part, A. Bullock, E. Rudzki or S. Piotrowski were particularly helpful in studying the topic.

The authors describe a scientific substantiation of the concept “social and communicative engineering", outline the object and the purpose of study of a new type of engineering, which is being actively formed and is objectively demanded in today's information society. Social and communicative engineering forms rules of the correct construction of social groups, of the setting of internal relations in them and regulations of the building of relationships with the outside world. The methods of social and communicative engineering are specific techniques used for the designing and the construction of social and communicative technologies and systems, and also scientific, where the leading one is the system analysis. Social and communicative engineering, in the authors’ interpretation, is a set of methods, tools and means which, when is used systematically, allows to design and create the qualitative and effective social and communicative technologies and systems. In other words, social and communicative engineering is the science that investigates the processes of construction, projecting and creation of social and communicative technologies and systems. Social and communicative engineering, as the science that studies the processes of designing and creating of social and communicative systems, is in demand, particularly during the formation of the system of relations between members of different parties and political platforms, ideological beliefs of various communities through the establishing of communications, particularly with the engagement of possibilities of the information spreading through social networks.

Opis:
This study focuses on one of the basic questions of Luhmann’s social theory relating to the description of modernity, namely, on the characteristics of subsystems and, even more specifically, it is aimed at gaining new recognitions concerning the relationships between subsystems. To do this, the study starts with sporadic comments in Luhmann’s late work indicating historical and current inequalities between functional subsystems that are characterised in essence by a coordinating structure. Supplementing these recognitions by new arguments, the study concludes that besides the horizontal relationships, a variety of hierarchic (vertical) organisation forms also develop under the conditions ofmodernity. The dynamic of the subsystems is also affected by external irritations of unequal weights and frequencies of occurrence which, though not necessarily overwriting the autopoiesis of the various subsystems, definitely influences the importance of the various subsystems in the process of social communication. The other part of the study points out-by analysing the organisation’s system level among other aspects-that vertical segmentation is a characteristic of the entirety of sociality besides the horizontal structure. Consequently, the study concludes that the description of modernity in Luhmann’s social theory is in need of some adjustment.

Opis:
This article attempts to diagnose social communication in post-1989 Poland. It analyses the issue against the larger backdrop of the most familiar communication theories formulated by representatives of the contemporary humanities (Mikhail Bakhtin’s theory of creative discourse, Lyotard’s dialogue as the differentiation of rationality,Waldensfels’s category of understanding and communication,Charles Taylor’s communitarianism). Another important reference point in addition to these theoretical conceptualisations is the philosophy of Józef Tischner who devoted many of his essays to dialogue in Polish social life, both in communist times and after the fall of the communist regime. The author proposes a diagnosis of the crisis of social communication in Poland. This crisis is rooted in the weakening of community bonds and the resulting lack of foundations on which dialogic society, based on trust and receptiveness to new experiences and ideas, the prerequisites for civil activity, could be constructed. Two forms of communication have taken its place: individualistic communication (the individual’s world is constricted to personal experiences) and collectivistic communication (the individual unreflectively accepts the current social stereotypes and views them as obvious truths). Such an attitude leads to the development and fortification of the “culture of distrust” syndrome with its extremely significant social consequences. This is particularly visible in the context of the quality of public debate and the relations between the government and society. Such phenomena as poor voter turnout, negligible participation in voluntary associations, lack of confidence in the authorities and interpersonal relations are all symptoms of the crisis of social communication

Emotions have re-emerged as a central topic of sociological interest, especially today, in a complex social and political historical moment. Even politics and events narration is not exempt from the emotional compartment. New technologies and social media (including social networks) have changed communication, relationship processes, and social interaction, moving from a vertical to a horizontal narrative. We live in a “platform society” (Van Dijck, 2018) as online sites and social networks specialized for discussion were also come up with the organization of decision-making processes and the activation of democratic practices in their different “onlife” manifestations. However, one thing should be emphasized: platforms reproduce the social structures in which individuals live between participation, freedom of expression and the elaboration of public political debate. The article aims to synthetically reconstruct the sociological discourse on emotions in political discourse and social narrative and communication through traditional and new media.

This contribution focuses on analysing political communication in Italy during the 2022 national elections, with particular attention to the TikTok platform, where prominent Italian political leaders have appeared. To this end, we used a combination of social analysis tools, including Fanpage Karma and Blogmeter Live Insight. The collected data were scrutinized using a multidisciplinary approach that combines Political Communication Theory and Media Analysis. The aim is to explore the role of pop culture in political communication and understand how this phenomenon influences political participation and users’ choices. Furthermore, the possible consequences of the growing popularity of pop political communication on political representation are examined, as well as whether this is a momentary or long-lasting phenomenon.
