Opis:
Increasing the energy efficiency has become a key concern in manufacturing companies due to the increased energy costs and the environmental impacts. More efficient energy saving can make the most economic contribution towards solving these problems in the short run. Companies’ governments are striving to identify the most effective measures to improve energy efficiency in manufacturing processes. The specific energy consumption (SEC) is a key performance indicator used to measure the energy consumed per product. Therefore, an improvement of this value contributes to decouple of economic growth from related increase of energy consumption. This paper highlights the needs of manufacturing companies for integrating energy performance in production management. This work focuses on studying the impact of implementing lean production concepts on decreasing the SEC in a food processing organization. The reduction of SEC can be achieved by increasing the total efficiency of the production line. Implementing the lean production methodology by using energy management model achieve an increase in the production output. The lean production used to eliminate all kinds of waste in production, while using the same input resources such as raw material and energy. The main source of waste found on the production line is the defective product and time waste during changeover and manual process. The achieved results showed that the SEC improved by 15.1% by reducing the lean wastes in the production line. Implementation of lean methodology has a great impact on improving the energy saving by reducing the specific energy consumption in the organization. The SEC is a key performance indicator used to measure the efficiency of a production line or a machine in relation to its production. Energy management model is useful in identifying the area of improvement and the energy saving measure.

Seven-transmembrane (7TM) receptors are one of the most important proteins involved in perception of extracellular stimuli and regulation of variety of intracellular signaling pathways. Divergence of receptor types, their ligands and signaling pathways makes 7TM receptors important factors in pathology of many diseases. This review focused on the main diseases in which involvement of 7TM receptors was established e.g., retinitis pigmentosa, severe obesity, and dwarfism. Recent findings of aberrant expression of 7TM receptors in development of cancer were also summarized.

Opis:
A compact temperature measuring device using a weakly coupled multi-core fibre in the Michelson interferometer structure is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The device is manufactured by an easy and simple splicing approach which consists of a multi-core fibre segment and an in-fibre coupler. In-fibre coupler is made of a cascaded single-mode fibre and multi-core fibre balls. It enhances the interference phenomenon of light nergy between the central core and the outer cores of a multi-core fibre. The sensor shows a high quality fringe visibility of about 14–18 dB in the wavelength spectrum. Multi-core structure presents multi-path interferences and exhibits a maximum temperature sensitivity of 70.6 pm/°C in the range of 20–90°C with an insensitive response to the refractive index in the range of 1.334 to 1.354. The device has the advantages of compact size, easy manufacturing, and it solves cross-sensitivity between temperature and refractive index making it an authentic real-time temperature monitoring solution.

One of education's defining features is that it exists to a large extent in a constant state of tension between stasis and change. Education is an inherently conservative institution in many ways, for instance regarding its function of transmitting preserved societal knowledge and its legendary ability to resist rapid change. At the same time, educational institutions are one of society's main ways of creating change through a variety of means such as groundbreaking research, discoveries, and ideas. Higher educational institutions are highly complex institutions which fulfill a multitude of purposes: employment preparation, social 'rite of passage,' knowledge generation, entertainment, economic mainstay, business partner, global outreach agent, and social change agent to name a few. Higher education has become the main vehicle for individual economic change, particularly in the U.S. where a college degree has become practically the sole remaining path to a middle-class lifestyle, although many observers argue that this reality is fading due to the shrinking of the middle class and the sharp rise in student debt in the U.S. As the Education for All movement illustrates, the ideal of education as a universal right which is essential to participating in the world's new knowledge economy and having the „individual power to reflect, make choices, and steer for a better life” is a global phenomenon, even though it is not an evenly distributed one.

ObjectivesPhysical activity (PA) is important for the prevention and management of numerous diseases and may have a positive effect on ability to work. The study aimed to assess the level of occupational and leisure time PA of soldiers during the COVID-19 pandemic and to explore whether there was a relationship between PA and perceived work ability.Material and MethodsThe study involved 305 men and 68 women who were territorial army soldiers aged 18–55 (M±SD 32.9±9.01). The Seven-Day Physical Activity Recall (SDPAR) and the Work Ability Index (WAI) were used.ResultsThe level of self-reported PA for the studied soldiers was relatively high; 80% of them met the recommendations of the WHO and were characterized by having a good (60%) or excellent (20%) WAI status. The level of occupational PA of male soldiers was higher than the level of leisure time PA, and they indicated higher levels of occupational PA and leisure time PA during the workweek than the weekend.ConclusionsCurrent work ability in comparison to the best in life and work ability related to the physical requirements of the work were positively correlated with leisure time PA. Work ability related to physical requirements was also positively correlated with occupational and total PA, and work ability related to mental requirements was positively correlated with total PA. The study supports the relationship between PA and several aspects of work ability.

The following contribution is based on the qualitative data of a seven-country comparative study on the situation of ‘non-traditional students’ at European universities. It focuses on two key findings of an extensive analysis: (1) deeper theoretical insights that emerge from the wealth of data and that are condensed into Axel Honneth’s ‘theory of recognition’; (2) a revealing comparison of the ‘university cultures’ of the seven countries studied. A brief conclusion for future university policies in Europe closes the contribution.

Companies of today must have their processes set in a way to fully use their capacities. It especially means efficient work, slimming of processes, reducing costs on quality but not at the expense of customer satisfaction. Within improving its processes they must carry out such improvements which allow them to eliminate unnecessary waste in the production process. Waste occurs in every enterprise, therefore workers should constantly search for it and eliminate it to increase productivity and reduce costs. In uncovering waste it is important to note the fact that we are searching for issues and not their cause and the guilty party to punish. The ability to identify waste and eliminate its causes may be the source of great improvements. When identifying waste we distinguish between seven types of waste and we use different methods and tools of industrial engineering to eliminate them. Based on many years of experience from organizations analyses conducted through student theses and based on the reconnaissance we carried out within resolving a research task we can state, that they include e.g. 5S, SMED etc.

In his treatise the City of God Augustine intended to show that the pagans anti-Christian charges blaming the Christians for the fall of Rome were unsubstantiated and that it was in Christianity that they could find the solution to many of their own moral and religious problems. The Bishop of Hippo wanted also to equip Christians with the appropriate arguments to refute pagan charges and to make them rejoice in the plan for the Salvation of humankind. In his assessment of the true value of philosophical principles it was essential for Augustine not to renounce the authority of Christ. Augustine claims that the human race is divided into two antagonistic communities, cities, in their pursuit of their respective ‘happiness’ (civitas Dei; civitas terrena). The two loves are mutually antithetical; the love of God, which is a social love and a love of justice, which is the very opposite of self-love, is an espousal of injustice.

On the inner north wall of the Southern Room of Amun in the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari there is a depiction of the so-called frieze of objects, arranged in two rows. In the upper one vessels with oils containing four out of the so-called seven sacred oils and ʿntjw were located. It can be observed that in the sequence of the oils from the ‘seven sacred oils’, the third one – sft – has been replaced by ʿntjw and the two last oils are not depicted at all. In this paper the possible reasons for such a replacement as well as the role of both aromatic substances in the temple ritual in the early Eighteenth Dynasty are examined.

This paper focuses on a newly identified Sanskrit manuscript of the Saptajinastotra (Praise of the Seven Buddhas) that was found at the Drepung Monastery in Tibet. By providing a critical edition and translation, as well as a comparison of the parallel Tibetan and Chinese texts, it presents the Sanskrit version of T 1682 Qi fo zan bai jia ta 七佛讚唄伽他 for the first time and corrects several mistakes, misspellings and misreadings of the manuscript, Tibetan and Chinese works.

The paper presents the Direct Torque Control with Space Vector Modulation (DTC-SVM) of seven-phase induction motor with Fuzzy Logic Speed Controller. The mathematical model of the seven-phase squirrel-cage induction motor and chosen methods of Space Vector Modulation have been presented. Simulation studies of the DTC-SVM with Fuzzy Logic speed controller have been carried out and the results of simulation studies have been presented and discussed. The author original contribution includes analysis and studies of considered control method of seven-phase induction motor.
W artykule przedstawiono metodę bezpośredniego sterowania momentem siedmiofazowego silnika indukcyjnego z zastosowaniem metod modulacji wektorowej i rozmytego regulatora prędkości. Przedstawiono model matematyczny siedmiofazowego silnika indukcyjnego klatkowego oraz wybrane metody modulacji wektorowej. Przeprowadzono badania symulacyjne sterowania silnikiem z zastosowaniem metody DTC-SVM i rozmytego regulatora prędkości. Przedstawiono i omówiono wyniki badań symulacyjnych. Oryginalny wkład autora dotyczy analizy i badań przedstawionej metody sterowania silnikiem siedmiofazowym.

The paper offers some preliminary considerations concerning the distribution, composition, and orientation of the elements comprising the decoration of the burial chamber of Meru, TT 240. The tomb, situated within the North Asasif slope, dates to the last phase of the reign of Mentuhotep II Nebhepetra. The repertoire of the decorative elements found in Meru’s burial chamber may be traced back to the Old Kingdom, while some peculiarities in their distribution and orientation seem to be a consequence of introduction of the Pyramid Texts, a post-Old Kingdom novelty in the decoration of a non-royal burial space.
